Fighting climate change
Infrastar shows our commitment to fighting climate change by having several policies such as Waste Management and Environmental and Sustainability. Infrastar actively fights climate change and executes several measures to deliver environmental benefits, prioritising local suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint, partnering with Microteam to recycle hardware, and 100% waste recycling and encouraging our staff, suppliers, customers and communities to support environment protection and improvement. We were awarded a Silver CSR Accreditation in 2021 with the judge stating we have “…adopted innovative approaches in a number of areas particularly on environment”. We chose Avionics House as our head office location due to it being part of a sustainable development comprising the redevelopment of a brown field site, with excellent public transport links and in close proximity to an electric car charging station and park and ride. Infrastar encourages staff and visitor car sharing and 75% of employees live locally to the office thus substantially reducing travel mileage. Staff are actively encouraged to participate in the Cycle to Work Scheme. Infrastar also has a flexible working approach and encourage home working. Our clients and suppliers use our office as a hub to work from to cut down on their own travel/mileage. When travelling for work, Infrastar uses hotel companies that share the same ethos, such as Premier Inn and their Force for Good policy. We have a TerraCycle recycling point for office TerraCycle packaging (crisp packets and chocolate wrappers), which is taken to KC Recycling Glos Longlevens to raise money for charity. Through our G-Cloud service provision, we will continue to improve the fight for climate change by sharing learnings from our initiatives with customers, suppliers and communities, and learning from others’ initiatives to help us formalise our pledge for NetZero. - Covid-19 recovery
-
Covid-19 recovery
Infrastar proactively supports and manages the recovery from COVID-19 for existing and new employees and our clients and suppliers, including recently creating a new role and employing an individual left unemployed by the impacts of COVID-19. Our improved workplace conditions mean our staff, clients and suppliers can work from the Infrastar office in a socially distanced environment with sustainable travel, free parking and refreshments. Infrastar installed a Temperature Pass Screening Kiosk to conduct contactless temperature checks to identify abnormal body temperatures with an antibacterial/mask station and COVID-19 office signage. Our new ways of working include encouraging staff to work from home rather than the office (or vice versa) to support their mental and physical health. To support the health of staff affected by COVID-19 and reduce the demand on health and care services, we provide: - private medical insurance covering routine/GP referred services to complement the NHS, including 45 days mental health treatment from day 1 of employment; - a Health Cash Plan, including up to 8 face-to-face sessions with the Employee Assistance Programme and access to MyWellness with: o My Counselling (24/7 counselling support helpline for stress/anxiety, financial concerns, etc.); o My GP Anytime (phone/video direct line to a doctor and prescriptions sent directly to work/home); o My Health Assessments (online health/lifestyle analysis supported by nutrition diaries, stress and fitness programmes plus video guides). Infrastar is invested in our staff, suppliers, clients, customers and the contract workforce’s physical and mental health and wellbeing and have signed up to the Mental Health at Work Commitment. Our G-Cloud service provision will support our Action Plan under that commitment to raise awareness of mask anxiety, loneliness and isolation whilst shielding or isolating, integrating the 'new normal' in the workplace, and relationships and support with engagement and adapting as COVID-19 rules change. - Tackling economic inequality

Tackling economic inequality
Infrastar is actively engaged in creating diverse contract supply chains. Through our experience, we know what does/doesn't work and share our knowledge and contacts with our suppliers, customers and clients. We have provided many contacts with our bankers, suppliers, and electronic signing package provider to help them to grow and create new business opportunities. We advertise on social media and attend exhibitions and workshops, the most recent being the Remote Working Expo 2022 at London Excel, where we formed many new partnerships and relationships with customers and suppliers. We are Cyber Essentials and IASME certified, abide by NCSC Guidelines and are GDPR certified to action, identify and manage cyber security risks. We are a Prompt Payment Code signatory and believe that cashflow is a significant barrier to business sustainment and growth, particularly with young businesses. We are a strong supporter of educational attainment and opportunities for those facing employment barriers and/or located in deprived areas. For example, we are a NCSC Cyber First member, giving diverse young people the support, skills and experience in cyber security and offer work/student placements and work experience. We work with Laptops for Learning NCLB, Cheltenham Education Partnership and ITSchools Africa to arrange funding and equipment supply. Infrastar is an advocate of apprenticeships, employing 2 apprentices so far, working with local colleges in career advancement. We are proud to be in the top 50 companies in the Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Champions List in The Apprenticeship Guide (Gloucestershire Business News). Infrastar is proactive in helping ex-military and their families transition into civilian life, working with Career Transition Partnership and consistently working towards the Armed Forces Covenant. Half our employees and many of our contractors/suppliers are veterans or spouses/family members of veterans. Our G-Cloud service provision will enable us to share our initiatives with a wider customer/supplier base. - Equal opportunity
-
Equal opportunity
Through G-Cloud, Infrastar will share our commitment to reducing the disability employment gap in the contract supply chain and in the workplace generally, helping us as we work towards becoming a Disability Confident Employer. Infrastar supports disabled employees through our flexible working policy, supporting staff to work from an environment that suits their specific needs and requirements. During our recruitment process, Infrastar provides the option to interview via a video call. We have a number of clients and customers with physical disabilities (e.g. requiring a seeing eye dog) that use our offices and we work with them to overcome any obstacles they encounter. We have disabled parking and easy access entry doors and, once our offices are reached, everything is on the same level and easily accessible. Many of our employees and contractors work at secure sites with Disability Confident Leaders who have workplace adjustment processes for people with disabilities, conditions, and cognitive processing differences. The sites have Disabled Employee Networks providing guidance and support to individuals, managers, and leadership on how to create inclusive working environments and offer/host social and educational events. Their Disability and Neurodiversity Teams offer assessments and workplace adjustments for all people with disabilities, health conditions, and cognitive processing differences to minimise barriers to work. Infrastar works with a recruitment company that shares our equality values, implementing strategies such as ‘Women in Technology’ and using diverse interview panels of men and women. The recruitment is not solely CV based, which is evident in our current workforce, where a large percentage were employed through referrals and recommendations from current employees and family members. Although we are not required to, we have a Modern Slavery Policy which emphasises Infrastar’s commitment to preventing modern slavery in the workplace and with our suppliers and customers. - Wellbeing
-
Wellbeing
Infrastar has signed the Mental Health at Work Commitment and is implementing its strategies. Through our G-Cloud provision, we will strongly encourage our suppliers and customers to also sign up. Infrastar places huge importance on mental health days, taking staff, suppliers and customers on team meals, private Cineworld screenings and outdoor pursuits. For example, we arrange team visits to one of our favourite charities, Corey’s Farm in Bude, to visit the alpacas and sheep we purchased for the charity, with a hotel stay and evening meal with Corey’s Farm staff. To support our staff’s physical and mental health, we provide: - private medical insurance, including 45 days mental health treatment from day 1 of employment, - a Health Cash Plan (up to 8 face-to-face Employee Assistance Programme sessions) and MyWellness with: o My Counselling (a 24/7 counselling support helpline for stress/anxiety, financial concerns, etc.); o My GP Anytime (a direct line to a doctor via phone/video and prescriptions sent directly to work/home); o My Health Assessments (online health/lifestyle analysis supported by nutrition diaries, stress and fitness programmes plus video guides). Infrastar conducts wellbeing/work satisfaction surveys through our HR package and prioritise and promote an open culture around mental health. Infrastar actively encourages staff living locally to the office to participate in the Cycle to Work scheme and also provide unlimited free healthy snacks and drinks to staff, suppliers and customers working from the office to promote a healthier lifestyle. We conduct regular welfare checks for staff working from home. Staff, contractors and suppliers are actively encouraged through social media and communications to support staff charities and community-led initiatives such as Digibus Gloucestershire. Infrastar explored purchasing a staff defibrillator for emergencies, but the Landlord agreed this was an essential requirement and purchased one for the whole of Avionics House.
