Fighting climate change

Fighting climate change

We are committed to the reduction of our energy usage and carbon emissions. Our carbon reduction plan identified that our emissions are mainly from home energy consumption (remote working, 160 tCO2e); 10 tCO2e from our London office and a much lower 1.5 tCO2e from commuting to work. We have already identified opportunities to remove/reduce negative environmental impacts of the contract including: Moving staff home energy consumption to renewable electricity and phasing out fossil fuel for heating using government grants. Minimising unnecessary business travel and where needed prioritising the use of public transport, promoting ‘cycle to work’ and introducing a company electric vehicle leasing scheme to allow staff to phase out petrol and diesel. Promote these actions through our Sustainability Employee Resource Group and throughout our supply chain.
Covid-19 recovery

Covid-19 recovery

"We will support employment, retraining and return to work by recruiting from the widest possible talent pool.
We partner with Tech Talent, AWS Restart and Tech Vets to ensure that our employment and training opportunities are available to those that face barriers. This has included employing prison leavers, people from deprived areas, disabled people, veterans and refugees.
We are growing our own talent by rolling out an innovative Technical Architect training programme. Targeting restarters, the programme will accelerate talent development and reduce delivery cost and improve productivity for our clients.
We will continue to focus on the health and well-being of our people thereby reducing the demand on health and public services. For example our employees benefit from a £600 per year wellbeing allowance. Delivered through the Heka platform, it provides a wide range of physical and mental health wellbeing options that can be accessed anywhere.

We will maintain working conditions that support the COVID-19 recovery effort.
We have embedded remote and hybrid working environments which support social distancing when necessary and we are planning to open an office outside of London.
We will continue to measure conditions of the contract workforce through formal channels like our people survey and town halls as well as more informal grass roots methods such as our employee led Well-being Champions group."
Tackling economic inequality

Tackling economic inequality

"As a sector with skills shortages, we will attract, retain and develop people from the widest possible talent pool.
We partner with Tech Talent, AWS Restart and Tech Vets to ensure that our employment and training opportunities are available to those that face barriers. This has included employing prison leavers, people from deprived areas, disabled people, veterans and refugees.
Cloud first, we onboard staff remotely - we have onboarded 168 new staff though the pandemic.
Our six employee resource groups (ERGs) lead many activities from grassroots up, including Wellbeing Champions, Women in Tech, Green team and Diversity and Inclusion champions. Our Giving Back employee network undertakes careers outreach in schools for example.
We will pay particular attention to driving greater gender diversity by raising awareness, attracting more women candidates and making 6point6 a great place to work for women.
We will create training opportunities that lead to recognised qualifications for the digital sector.
We will increase your supply chain’s resilience and capacity
As an SME, 100% of the work we do will positively impact your supply chain diversity.
Our specialist talent acquisition companies include one startup, 55 Exec Search, and one VCSE, Tech Vets, who help us recruit service leavers.
In terms of supply chain selection and management, we share all procurement details for transparency and select partners based on quality, value for money and capacity, underpinned by our ISO9001 processes.
We will innovate. For example through our Technical Architect training programme to accelerate talent development and reduce cost of delivery and improve productivity for our clients.
We are an accredited ISO27001, ISO9001 and Cyber Essentials Plus business and are committed to NCSC best practice standards, including the 10 Steps to Cyber security and the NCSC Cloud Security guidance."
Equal opportunity

Equal opportunity

"We will promote equal opportunity by further developing our open and inclusive culture where employees are motivated to drive change because they have voice, autonomy and understand the importance of diversity for high performing teams. We are a Disability Confident Committed employer able to offer guaranteed interviews, job shadowing and work placements.
We monitor our performance and take action to improve, supporting our staff in Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Gender. Our Code of Conduct training raises awareness of diversity and inclusion while the ERGs support the development of staff and motivate teams to accept and promote diversity. Currently circa 40% of staff are BAME but we are under-represented at 20% women. Improving the proportion of women is a key corporate objective which is backed and monitored at board level.

Examples of how we are living the principles set out in the Good Work Plan include:
- In Feb 2022 we appointed an independent specialist to review our compensation and benefits policy and practice which included an equal pay audit. We have implemented the findings in April 2022
- We give employees voice through round tables, Town Halls and employee surveys. We use digital tools like Slido and WorkTango to improve employee participation
- Our six employee resource groups (ERGs) lead many activities from grassroots up, including Wellbeing Champions, Women in Tech, Green team and Diversity and Inclusion champions
- Our Giving Back employee network undertakes careers outreach in schools for example"
Wellbeing

Wellbeing

As a high growth, high human capital business, our people are paramount so we bring a deep understanding of and commitment to their health and wellbeing. We support both the physical and mental health of our employees through an annual wellness allowance of up to £600. We have introduced the Heka platform to drive an increase in take up which last year was at 65%. Our in-house psychologist and life coach provides one-to-one support which we turned into an on demand service during the pandemic. We also deploy other tools and initiatives such as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs), an independent Employee Assistance provider, Wellbeing month, counselling and crisis support services provided by our corporate health insurance policy. All of this is backed by a robust set of policies and procedures such as our grievance mechanisms and our timesheet and resource planning system which looks at employee work life balance on a weekly basis.
