Scaling

Independence of resources
Our offering is a Power BI custom visual that customers install directly into their own Power BI environment. Because it runs entirely within the customer’s tenant, all data processing, rendering, and resource consumption remain isolated by Microsoft’s built‑in tenant‑level separation. Each organisation’s datasets, reports, refresh operations, and capacity usage are fully segregated from every other tenant. The visual does not transmit data outside the customer’s environment; it simply displays data already handled by Power BI. As a result, each customer operates on independent compute, storage, and network resources, ensuring no cross‑tenant performance, security, or reliability impact.

Other protection between networks
As a Power BI custom visual installed directly into the customer’s own Power BI environment, all communication occurs solely within Microsoft’s secured cloud boundary. Beyond TLS 1.2 and IPsec/TLS VPN options already referenced, Microsoft provides strict network segregation through identity‑based access controls, private backbone routing, and isolation of traffic entering the Power BI Service. Data never traverses our infrastructure; it remains fully contained within the customer’s tenant and Microsoft’s protected network perimeter. Microsoft’s layered defenses—secure edge filtering, segmentation, threat detection, and continuous monitoring—ensure all customer‑to‑cloud traffic remains secure, isolated, and protected end‑to‑end.

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
Because our offering is a Power BI custom visual installed directly into the customer’s own Microsoft 365 tenant, availability is governed by the Power BI Service and Microsoft’s underlying cloud platform. The visual itself has no independent infrastructure, processing component, or external service that could fail or interrupt the customer experience. As long as the Power BI Service is available, the visual remains available. Microsoft provides high‑availability, fault‑tolerant architecture across its global cloud, ensuring continuity of service. We therefore align our availability with the Power BI Service SLA and guarantee that our visual imposes no additional availability dependencies or risks
Approach to resilience
Approach to resilience is deferred to MSFT, & Outage reporting is related to the PBI service overall

Configuration and change management approach
Development and test copies of the solution will be held on our network. Bug fixes and enhancements will be logged in our ticketing system. Those tickets approved for implementation will be implemented on our development environment and then promoted to test where unit and integration testing will take place. Changes will be promoted to our production environment though a formal and documented change control process. Full version control of all parts of the solution will provide roll back options should they be required. Bug fixes will be implemented on an ad-hoc basis, enhancements will be released on a monthly cycle.

Our incident management focuses on issues related to the behaviour, performance, or compatibility of our Power BI custom visual. We maintain predefined processes for common events such as installation problems, rendering issues, and post‑update incompatibilities. Users report incidents through our support portal or dedicated email, providing tenant details, visual version, and reproduction steps. We categorise incidents by severity and respond accordingly, with rapid response for critical issues. For significant incidents, we provide a post‑incident report outlining the cause, impact, and corrective actions. Throughout the process, we offer clear updates, ensuring transparency while Microsoft handles any underlying platform‑level incidents.
