Onboarding and offboarding
- Getting started
-
1Data Gateway’s main characteristic is ease of use by implementing a straightforward web interface.
Nevertheless, there is extensive online help documentation (including for all user workflows). This help documentation covers the use of the application for different types of users (for example data suppliers, data receivers, or system administrators)
Additionally, we provide online training courses for users who wish to take advantage of this. - Service documentation
- Yes
- Documentation formats
- HTML
- End-of-contract data extraction
-
Prior to the contract ending, users may download their data from the user-interface in JSON format (configuration and metadata) for import into another system.
The geospatial data uploaded to the system may be exported in the format in which it was originally uploaded, or in the format to which it was converted as part of a workflow. In both cases, this may be done from the UI. - End-of-contract process
-
Prior to the contract ending, we recommend that users download any data that they wish to retain (e.g. configuration, or details on data workflows).
At the end of the contract, access to the system will be withdrawn, and the instance will be spun down.
There are no fees nor costs associated with the contract ending. Once the contract has ended, payments for the service will also cease. - Documentation accessibility standard
- WCAG 2.2 AAA

1DataGateway has an extensive API that allows for all activity relating to submitting data.
In addition, management information regarding submission activity and data conformance can be access by API.
Users may not set up the service via the API, nor make changes to the configuration via the API. In general this is an activity undertaken fairly rarely in the majority of use cases. - API documentation

- Customisation available
- Yes
- Description of customisation
-
1Data Gateway is designed from the ground up to be customisable for a customer's given use case.
Users may setup and customise any number of projects. Projects consist in different standards for different types of data that the user wishes to receive. The standards can relate to geospatial data quality, data completeness, file format, and other requirements relating to data quality.
Workflows allow these data standards to be enforced in different ways, with different workflows data that fails validation passed (e.g. return a quality report to the supplier).
Data passing or failing validation can also be enhanced before sending onwards to its destination. These enhancements include positional accuracy corrections, addition of reference data, spike elimination and more.
Finally, there are various other kinds of customisation regarding user permissions and the overall system, such as email notifications and use of identity providers.
Scaling
- Independence of resources
-
We deploy separate instances of the application for each customer, with computing resources ring-fenced for that application instance.
Within a single instance, we offer differing levels of compute, and work with prospective customers (e.g. by offering a free trial where indicative data of the anticipated size is used) to ensure that their usage does cause service degradation.
Analytics

- 1DataGateway allows users to view metadata regarding data submissions. For example, submissions over time, or data regarding the levels of conformance of the data submitted. These assist entities who receive data to better manage their relationships with data suppliers.

Availability and resilience
- Guaranteed availability
-
Customers are given the option of how they wish the software to be deployed: in the cloud by 1Spatial, in the cloud by the customer, or on-premise by the customer.
For the first of these only (aka only where the software is deployed in the cloud by 1Spatial), we offer availability SLAs. For all three of these options (1Spatial cloud, customer cloud, on-prem) we have other SLAs relating to support, which you can find elsewhere in these application answers.
The SLAs for availability specify that the software will be accessible 24/7/365. The production environment will have guaranteed availability, with 99% uptime between the hours of 9 AM – 5.30 PM UK Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
If these guaranteed levels of availability are not met, we commit to refunding users for downtime in designated projects if the system is of critical business importance. Details are available on request. - Approach to resilience

As a modern, forward-looking business, 1Spatial Group Limited recognises at senior levels the need to ensure that its business operates smoothly and without interruption for the benefit of its customers, shareholders and other stakeholders.
In order to provide such a level of continuous operation, 1Spatial Group Limited has implemented an Information Security Management System (ISMS) in line with the International Standard for Information Security, ISO/IEC 27001. This standard defines the requirements for an ISMS based on internationally recognised best practice.
The operation of the ISMS has many benefits for the business, including:
Protection of revenue streams and company profitability
Ensuring the supply of goods and services to customers
Maintenance and enhancement of shareholder value
Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
1Spatial Group Limited has decided to maintain full certification to ISO/IEC 27001 in order that the effective adoption of information security best practice may be validated by an independent third party, a Registered Certification Body (RCB).
This policy applies to all systems, people and processes that constitute the organization’s information systems, including board members, directors, employees, suppliers and other third parties who have access to 1Spatial Group Limited systems. - Software Security Code of Practice

A change request must be assessed for impact (including information security implications) and resource requirements before being considered by the Change Advisory Board (CAB). To assist with impact assessment, the identification of related systems/components affected by the proposed change and input from other affected support groups may be required. - Vulnerability management type
