Service constraints
Scanning effectiveness depends on asset visibility, network access, and an agreed scope approved by the buyer. Authenticated scans require valid credentials. Remediation remains the buyer’s responsibility unless separately contracted. On-premises scanning requires deployment of a lightweight scanner. Legacy or unsupported systems may have limited coverage. Scan frequency may be constrained by operational change windows. Planned platform maintenance may cause short, pre-notified interruptions. Integration with PSA tools depends on supported platforms and customer configuration.
System requirements
  • Network connectivity allowing scanners to reach scoped assets
  • Buyer-approved scope defining IP ranges, domains, cloud services, and endpoints
  • Lightweight on-premises scanner host for internal vulnerability scanning activities
  • Valid credentials for authenticated operating system and application scanning
  • Supported operating systems within vendor-supported lifecycle periods
  • Outbound internet access for updates, reporting, and dashboard connectivity
  • Asset discovery or inventory data to improve scanning accuracy

Scaling

Independence of resources
Secure Nexus operates the service using a multi-tenant architecture designed to ensure customer workloads are logically isolated. Scanning schedules, data storage, and reporting are segregated per customer, preventing demand from one user impacting another. Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
Secure Nexus targets 99.9% availability for the vulnerability management portal, excluding planned maintenance. Availability covers access to dashboards, reporting, and data exports. Planned maintenance is scheduled outside business hours where possible and communicated in advance.

If availability falls below the agreed level due to a service-related issue within Secure Nexus’ control, service credits may be applied in line with the contract terms. Credits are calculated proportionally based on the duration and impact of the outage and are applied against future service charges. SLAs and service credit arrangements are defined within the customer contract.
Approach to resilience
Secure Nexus designs its vulnerability scanning service with resilience and asset protection aligned to the UK Government’s Asset Protection and Resilience principles. The service operates on a robust, redundant platform with multiple layers of fault tolerance. Core components, including scanning orchestration, data storage, and portal access, are deployed across resilient infrastructure with failover capabilities to ensure continuity in the event of individual component or network failures.

Data is stored securely with regular backups and logical separation per customer to protect against data loss or corruption. Monitoring systems continually assess service health, triggering alerts and automated remediation actions to maintain stability.

Detailed resilience architecture and datacentre configurations are available on request under appropriate confidentiality arrangements.
Outage reporting
Secure Nexus reports service outages through clear, timely, and transparent communication channels.

When an outage or service degradation is detected, Secure Nexus raises an incident through its monitoring and alerting systems. Affected customers are notified promptly via agreed communication channels, including the Secure Nexus service portal and dedicated Microsoft Teams channels.

Status updates are provided at regular intervals, detailing the nature of the issue, affected services, current impact, and remediation progress. Where relevant, estimated restoration timelines are shared.

Following resolution, Secure Nexus provides a post-incident summary outlining root cause, actions taken, and any preventative measures implemented. Availability metrics and SLA impact are reviewed as part of regular service reporting.
