End-of-contract data extraction
"Tenable provides a crucial, limited-time window for customers to extract their data after a contract ends.

Data Extraction Timeline
Access Period: Customer data stored in the Tenable Cloud Platform is typically retained for up to 30 days following the subscription termination or expiration date. This 30-day window is the only period during which data access and extraction is guaranteed.

Deletion: All customer data will be deleted by Tenable after this 30-day grace period expires.

Extraction Methods
Users must proactively extract their data using the tools available within the platform:

API Exports: This is the most efficient and recommended method for large volumes of data. Users can leverage Tenable's REST APIs (primarily Tenable Vulnerability Management APIs) to programmatically export:

Asset and metadata lists

Vulnerability findings

Scan results and logs

User Interface (UI) Exports: Users can generate and download reports, asset lists, and finding details directly from the web interface in formats like CSV, JSON, and PDF.

Users are advised to initiate the data extraction process well in advance of the contract end date."
End-of-contract process
"Tenable does not offer migration services out of our software onto other platforms.

At the end of a Tenable contract, customers are required to cease using any software or hosted services purchased and certify to Tenable that all copies of the software have been returned or destroyed. Individual scan data can be exported on demand from the UI and via API, with bulk export options available. Data is accessible in .nessus, CSV, PDF, and HTML formats. The price of the contract includes access to all standard product capabilities under the unified Tenable.one pricing model, which covers features such as Agentless Assessment, Infrastructure as Code scanning, and container image scanning. There are no hidden costs for third-party integrations, API usage, data export, or reporting. Professional services are available. Customization, and integration efforts are available at standard rates and may incur additional costs based on scope and service type. Customers remain responsible for any outstanding payment obligations if terminated for cause or convenience."

WCAG 2.2 AA
Description of service interface
The Tenable One service interface is a unified, web-based platform designed for Exposure Management. Its core is the Global Exposure View and Centralized Asset Inventory, providing comprehensive visibility across IT, Cloud, OT, and Identity assets. The interface uses dashboards to visualize the Tenable Lumin Exposure Score (CES), a risk-based metric, with trend data and peer benchmarking. It features Attack Path Analysis to map likely threats and allows users to drill down into specific assets and vulnerabilities for prioritized remediation and reporting.

API
Yes
What users can and can't do using the API
Tenable One leverages APIs from its core components to offer extensive automation. see https://developer.tenable.com/

Service Setup via API: Users can perform initial configuration and deployment tasks, such as creating new user accounts, configuring access controls and user groups, and defining networks or asset groups. Key setup is done by generating Access Keys and Secret Keys in the UI, which are then used to authenticate all subsequent API requests. This allows for automated deployment of scanners and agents.

Making Changes via API: Users can programmatically manage most operational aspects. This includes scheduling and launching scans, creating and modifying scan policies, importing third-party data, and exporting asset and vulnerability data for integration with external systems (like ticketing or SIEM). Changes are typically executed using standard REST methods like POST, PUT, and PATCH.

Limitations: The primary limitations are Rate Limiting and Concurrency Limiting to ensure service stability for all customers.

Rate Limits restrict the number of API requests a single user can make per minute.

Concurrency Limits restrict the number of simultaneously running jobs, such as a maximum of 25 active scans and up to 10 concurrent export requests per customer container. Additionally, large tasks are often processed asynchronously via export endpoints.

Customisation available
Yes
Description of customisation
"Yes, users can extensively customize the Tenable One service to align the platform with their specific organizational needs and security priorities.

What Can Be Customized
Dashboards and Reporting: Users can create custom dashboards and reports from scratch or using templates, adding or modifying widgets to display specific risk metrics, vulnerability trends, and KPIs relevant to their role or business unit.

Asset Categorization (Tagging): Users can create custom rule based tags to logically group assets from different sources (IT, Cloud, Web Apps) for focused analysis and visualisation.

RBAC: Roles and permissions can be defined to control user access to specific data, actions or assets.

Asset Criticality Rating (ACR): ACR is automatically assigned but can be modified by the customer to reflect the true importance of individual assets to the organisation.

How Users Can Customize
Primarily through the platforms web-based User Interface.

Who Can Customize
Customization privileges are determined by the user's Role and Permissions:

Administrators – anything

Scan Managers and Standard Users - create, edit, and export their own dashboards and reports, and assign tags to in-scope assets.

Custom Roles can be created by Administrators to precisely define user rights such as the ability to create but not delete dashboards."

Scaling

Independence of resources
"Tenable One runs on a multi-tenant cloud architecture, which employs mechanisms to guarantee resource availability and isolation.

The platform achieves this by enforcing Rate and Concurrency Limits on resource-intensive activities like API requests and concurrent scan exports. If heavy customer activity negatively impacts the platform, these limits activate to prevent a ""noisy neighbor"" effect. Furthermore, data is logically segregated into unique customer containers or cells using technologies like Elasticsearch clusters, ensuring that one customer's high demand does not degrade the performance or stability experienced by other tenants."

Data importing and exporting

Data export approach
"Users primarily extract data from Tenable One using two methods:

API Endpoints: The most robust way for large or automated data exports. Users utilize the Tenable Vulnerability Management APIs to request and download raw vulnerability findings, asset inventory, and logs in JSON or CSV formats, often in chunks.

User Interface (UI): For smaller, ad-hoc exports, users generate reports or export data directly from dashboards, the Findings page, or Scan Results pages. Available formats include CSV, JSON, PDF, and native .nessus files.

These methods allow for customization of data fields and filtering before export."

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
Tenable commits to provide 99.95% average uptime with respect to the Cloud Services during each calendar month of the subscription term. If in any calendar month this uptime commitment is not met by Tenable and Customer was negatively impacted, Tenable shall provide, as the sole and exclusive remedy for unavailability or performance degradation of the specific Tenable Cloud Services, a service credit.
Approach to resilience
Tenable uses health and status data to detect and address potential issues in a timely manner, thereby maintaining SLA commitments. Tenable Cloud services are replicated both within and across Azureregions. Should both instances in a region fail (or the region suffers an outage in general), the regional-failover layer (usually using dynamic DNS) will instead direct traffic to the other three regions. Failover is closest-path to the traffic origin.
Outage reporting
Tenable One disaster recovery procedures have several levels and are designed to react to situations that may occur from anywhere between once in five years to once in 50 years. Depending on the scope of the disaster, the recovery procedures vary in time from 60 minutes to 24 hours.

Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels
Tenable restricts access to management interfaces and support channels by enforcing the principles of least privilege and need-to-know. Only authorized personnel receive the minimum access required for their job and only for the necessary duration. All privileged access is approved, monitored, logged, and revoked immediately after session termination. Activities are continuously audited, and suspected misuse is promptly investigated. Customers control access to their data, and Tenable support engineers are granted temporary access only with explicit customer authorization during support cases. Technical and organizational controls ensure robust protection and accountability for all access events.
