- End-of-contract data extraction
-
At the end of the contract, users can extract their data from xWatts using standard export tools and agreed data extraction processes. Data can be exported in open, commonly used formats suitable for reuse in other systems or for archiving.
Where required, xWatts will support customers with structured data extraction to ensure completeness and continuity, including asset data, energy data, reports, and configuration information relevant to the customer. Data extraction can be completed prior to service termination to allow validation by the customer.
After confirmation that data extraction is complete, customer data is securely deleted in line with agreed retention and data sanitisation policies. - End-of-contract process
-
At the end of the contract, customers retain access to xWatts for an agreed notice period to allow orderly service exit and data extraction. During this period, users can export their data using standard export tools, supported by xWatts where required to ensure completeness and accuracy.
The contract price includes standard data export in open, commonly used formats, access to documentation, and reasonable support to assist with offboarding. Customer data remains accessible until the agreed termination date to allow validation of exported information.
Once the contract ends and data extraction is confirmed, customer access is disabled and data is securely deleted in line with xWatts data retention and sanitisation policies, unless otherwise agreed for regulatory or legal reasons.
Additional costs may apply where customers request non-standard exit support, such as bespoke data transformations, extended access periods, additional consultancy, or on-site assistance. Any additional costs are agreed in advance through a defined change control process to ensure transparency.

Availability and resilience
- Guaranteed availability
-
XWatts is designed to deliver high availability through a resilient, cloud-hosted architecture. The service targets 99.5% availability measured on a monthly basis, excluding scheduled maintenance periods that are communicated to customers in advance.
Availability is supported through monitored infrastructure, redundancy, automated recovery mechanisms, and proactive incident management. Service performance and uptime are continuously monitored to identify and address issues quickly, minimising disruption to users.
Planned maintenance is scheduled outside of core business hours where possible and customers are notified in advance. Emergency maintenance may be carried out where required to protect service security or stability.
Where guaranteed availability levels are not met, service credits may be applied in line with the terms agreed in the customer contract. Refunds or service credits are calculated proportionately based on the duration and impact of the outage and are applied against future service charges rather than provided as cash refunds.
Detailed SLA terms, including definitions of availability, exclusions, reporting, and remedies, are documented within the contract and made available to customers prior to service commencement. - Approach to resilience
-
XWatts is designed for resilience using a cloud-hosted architecture that prioritises availability, fault tolerance, and rapid recovery. The service is hosted on resilient third-party cloud infrastructure with built-in redundancy across critical components, reducing the risk of single points of failure.
The platform uses monitored services, automated health checks, and alerting to detect issues early and trigger recovery actions where required. Core services are designed to restart automatically in the event of failure, minimising service disruption. Data is stored on resilient storage systems with regular backups to protect against data loss.
Datacentre resilience, including physical security, power redundancy, cooling, and hardware lifecycle management, is provided by the underlying cloud service provider and aligned to recognised industry standards. Further details on datacentre resilience and certifications are available on request.
xWatts applies controlled change management and planned maintenance processes to reduce operational risk. Maintenance activities are scheduled to minimise impact on users and are communicated in advance wherever possible.
Regular monitoring, incident management processes, and capacity planning ensure the service can continue to operate effectively during periods of increased demand or unexpected events. Together, these measures ensure xWatts delivers a resilient service suitable for business-critical use. - Outage reporting
-
XWatts reports service outages and incidents through direct customer communications rather than a public status dashboard. When an outage or service degradation is identified, affected customers are notified via email alerts with details of the issue, expected impact, and progress updates.
Outage information can also be shared through agreed support channels, including the service desk or ticketing system, allowing customers to track status and resolution activity. Where required, incident summaries and post-incident reports are provided to explain root cause, remediation actions, and any preventative measures implemented.
xWatts does not currently provide a public outage dashboard or automated outage reporting via API. Communication is targeted to impacted customers to ensure clarity, relevance, and appropriate handling of operational or security-related information.
Planned maintenance activities are communicated in advance via email, including timing and expected impact, to minimise disruption and allow customers to plan accordingly.
This approach ensures timely, accurate, and controlled communication while maintaining service security and operational transparency.

- Security governance certified
- No
- Security governance approach
- XWatts operates a proportionate security governance framework aligned to the UK Government’s Software Security Code of Practice. Security responsibilities are clearly defined, with senior leadership oversight and regular review of risks, controls and policies. We maintain documented information security, data protection and incident management policies, which are reviewed and updated periodically. Secure development, access control, supplier assurance and staff security awareness are embedded into day-to-day operations. Risks are assessed throughout the service lifecycle, and security considerations form part of design, change and deployment decisions. While not formally certified, our governance approach follows recognised industry best practice and government guidance.
- Information security policies and processes
-
XWatts follows documented information security policies and operational processes designed to protect data, systems and users. These include information security, access control, data protection, incident management, acceptable use, supplier management and business continuity policies. Policies are approved by senior management and communicated to staff as part of onboarding and ongoing awareness activity.
Roles and responsibilities for information security are clearly defined, with escalation routes in place for incidents, risks or non-compliance. Security incidents or weaknesses are reported internally, investigated, and remediated in line with our incident management process, with lessons learned captured where appropriate.
Compliance with policies is supported through least-privilege access controls, logging, change management and periodic reviews of user access and system configurations. Third-party suppliers are assessed to ensure they meet appropriate security expectations.
Policies and processes are reviewed regularly and updated in response to changes in risk, service scope, or relevant guidance. This approach ensures information security controls remain proportionate, effective and aligned with recognised industry and UK government best practice. - Software Security Code of Practice

Operational security
- Configuration and change management standard
- Supplier-defined controls
- Configuration and change management approach
- XWatts uses a controlled configuration and change management process across its service lifecycle. Service components, including application code, infrastructure and integrations, are version-controlled and tracked from development through deployment and retirement. Proposed changes are logged, assessed for technical and security impact, and approved before implementation. Security considerations include access control, data handling and service availability. Changes are tested where appropriate and deployed in a controlled manner, with rollback procedures available for material changes. Change records are retained to support auditability and operational assurance.
- Vulnerability management type
- Supplier-defined controls
- Vulnerability management approach
- We operate a risk-based vulnerability management process covering infrastructure, applications and third-party components. Potential threats are identified through regular vulnerability scanning, dependency monitoring, secure configuration reviews and penetration testing findings. We track threat intelligence from vendor advisories, cloud service providers, NCSC guidance and industry sources. Vulnerabilities are risk-assessed based on severity, exploitability and service impact. Critical and high-risk issues are prioritised and patched as soon as practicable, with emergency fixes applied outside standard release cycles where required. All remediation actions are tracked and reviewed to confirm resolution.
- Protective monitoring type
- Supplier-defined controls
- Protective monitoring approach
- We operate continuous protective monitoring across our services using automated logging, alerting and manual review. We identify potential compromises through monitoring of authentication activity, access logs, system events, configuration changes and anomalous behaviour patterns. Alerts are generated for suspicious or unexpected activity and reviewed by authorised personnel. Where a potential compromise is identified, access is restricted where necessary, affected systems are investigated, and corrective actions are taken promptly. Incidents are handled in line with our incident management process, with severity-based prioritisation. High-risk incidents are responded to immediately, with initial investigation commenced within hours.
- Incident management type
- Supplier-defined controls
- Incident management approach
- We operate pre-defined incident management processes for common events, including service outages, security incidents and data issues. Incidents are logged, prioritised and managed using a documented workflow with clear ownership and escalation paths. Users report incidents via email or an online support/ticketing channel. All incidents are acknowledged promptly and tracked through to resolution. We provide incident reports to users following resolution, including root cause, impact assessment, remediation actions and preventative measures where applicable. For significant incidents, regular progress updates are provided until service is restored and the incident is formally closed.
