Getting started
Tidal provides structured customer success support to help users get started with the service. A named customer success representative works with the client to develop and implement an onboarding plan tailored to their requirements and use cases. Onboarding support includes guided setup, configuration assistance, and walkthroughs of key features to ensure users can begin using the service effectively.
This is supported by comprehensive user documentation, which provides guidance on service functionality, configuration options, and day-to-day use. Documentation is made available to users to support self-service learning and ongoing reference. Where required, onboarding sessions can be delivered remotely to accommodate user availability and locations. This approach ensures users are supported from initial setup

End-of-contract data extraction
Users can extract their data from their Tidal tenant prior to the end of the contract. Data can be exported using the standard export functionality within the service e.g. via user interface and/or API.
Exports allow users to retain their information in a portable format (.CSV, .PNG, .XLSX). Authorised users can initiate data extraction at any time during the contract term and prior to service termination.
Guidance is provided to support users in completing data extraction, with documentation and live online support available to explain the process. This ensures users can retrieve their data in a controlled and accessible manner at the end of the contract.
End-of-contract process
User data and the service tenant are securely deleted from the underlying
hosting environment (Amazon Web Services) 30 days after contract termination, or sooner upon user request.
Prior to deletion, users are responsible for exporting any data they wish to retain using the standard data extraction functionality in the UI and API provided by the service, and support will be provided to assist users in extracting their data.
The contract price includes standard end-of-contract activities including data extraction capability, and secure deletion of data and tenant environments in line with data protection requirements.
Additional costs may apply where users request non-standard support, such as extended access beyond the standard period, bespoke data extraction assistance, or alternative data handling arrangements
This approach ensures a controlled, transparent, and secure contract exit process aligned with public sector expectations.

aligned with organisational governance.

Scaling

Independence of resources
Each customer is provided with their own dedicated instance of the platform hosted in Amazon Web Services. There is no shared data storage or processing between customers. This architecture ensures full isolation of resources, meaning the performance, availability, and activities of one customer cannot impact another. Demand placed on the service by other users is therefore segregated at infrastructure level, guaranteeing consistent service delivery and protecting each customer from contention or degradation caused by external usage.

Data-in-transit protection

Data protection between buyer and supplier networks
  • TLS (version 1.2 or above)
  • Other
Other protection between networks
Data exchanged between the buyer’s network and their dedicated instance of the Tidal Cyber platform is protected through secure, encrypted connections. Communication is limited to the customer environment and their isolated instance hosted in Amazon Web
Services, with no shared connections to other customers.
All data in transit is protected using industry-standard encryption protocols TLS 1.2 or higher). Network access is restricted through controlled endpoints and authentication mechanisms, ensuring only authorised users and systems can connect. This approach
protects data confidentiality and integrity between the buyer’s network and the service.
Data protection within supplier network
  • TLS (version 1.2 or above)
  • Other
Other protection within supplier network
Data stored within the Tidal Cyber service is protected through encryption at rest. All persisted data is encrypted using industry-standard encryption mechanisms within the underlying hosting environment. Encryption keys are securely managed and access to encrypted data is restricted to authorised services and
users only. This ensures that data remains protected from unauthorised access while stored, supporting confidentiality and compliance with public sector security expectations.

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
Tidal Cyber guarantees a service availability target of 99.9% per calendar month, calculated excluding scheduled maintenance and circumstances outside of Tidal’s reasonable control (e.g. force majeure or upstream provider outages).
Availability commitments are set out in the service agreement and supported by monitoring of the underlying hosting infrastructure provided by Tidal’s cloud service provider. Scheduled maintenance is communicated to users in advance where possible to minimise disruption.
Approach to resilience
The service is designed for resilience using a highly available cloud infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services. AWS datacentres are built to operate across multiple, physically isolated Availability Zones within each region, reducing the risk of single points of failure.
The platform benefits from redundant power, networking, and cooling, alongside automated monitoring and recovery mechanisms. Data and services are replicated across Availability Zones to support continuity and minimise disruption in the event of infrastructure or component failure.
Resilience is further supported through continuous infrastructure monitoring and automated failover capabilities, enabling the service to maintain availability during adverse events. This approach aligns with the government’s cloud security principle of asset protection and resilience by ensuring services remain available, data is protected, and operational risks are mitigated.
Outage reporting
Service outages are communicated to users through email alerts. Where an outage or service disruption occurs, affected users are notified via email with details of the issue, its impact, and progress updates as remediation actions are undertaken. Follow-up communications are provided as required to confirm service restoration and closure.
The service does not rely on a public status dashboard or API for outage reporting; email communication is used as the primary and authoritative notification method to ensure users receive timely and direct updates.
