Whatfix's Interface Testing with Assistive Technology Users

Whatfix has conducted comprehensive interface testing with users of assistive technology as part of its commitment to accessibility compliance. Here's an overview of testing approach and methodologies:

We engaged Deque, a recognized accessibility expert, to conduct a comprehensive audit of our platform. The audit was completed in January 2024 and focused on WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, resulting in a VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) certification.

Our accessibility assessment combines automated and manual testing techniques using real assistive technology users. The testing was conducted across multiple platforms: Accessibility in Whatfix

Windows 10 with JAWS and NVDA screen readers on Chrome
macOS with VoiceOver on Safari and Chrome browsers
Automated testing using Axe Pro
Screen Reader Compatibility Testing
We specifically tested compatibility with industry-leading screen reader tools including:

JAWS (Job Access With Speech)
NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access)
Apple VoiceOver

Our testing confirmed that Whatfix content (Flows, Smart Tips, Beacons, Self Help, Task List, Pop-ups, and Surveys) is fully screen reader accessible

Description of customisation
Whatfix offers extensive capabilities to customize the entire look and feel of your walkthroughs and widgets, including full control over color, font, and branding elements. Users can utilize a Rich Text Editor to incorporate digital media and tailor the "intro text" for their content.

We provide various themes predefined combinations of colors, fonts, and sizes that define the overall aesthetic. Account Managers and Content Managers can easily customize these elements. The Font Customization feature allows you to select a preferred font from a list, applying the chosen style globally across all end-user-facing content and widgets to ensure consistency with the host application.

The Icon Library allows for uploading and managing custom icons for widgets like Smart Tips, Beacons, and Launchers integrating Whatfix content into your application's design. Advanced users can also apply HTML/CSS styling for granular customization.

Scaling

Independence of resources
Whatfix integrates with the front end of the application, thus performance is not impacted as the application scales. The JS is asynchronous and therefore loads only after the entire application has loaded, and it doesn't impact performance in any way.
The application is load-balanced over multiple physical servers, and the Whatfix application runs on a load-balanced cluster. This enables Whatfix to scale seamlessly upward to handle increased volume without impacting performance. The Whatfix JavaScript execution during page load takes approximately 25 milliseconds.
Our CDN servers are capable of serving 100,000 concurrent requests per second.
