WCAG 2.2 AA
Description of service interface
"Auth0 provides a versatile service interface centered on Universal Login, a centralized, hosted authentication gateway that secures access across web, mobile, and IoT applications. It offers a fully customizable UI that supports passwordless, biometric, and social logins without altering application code.

For developers and administrators, the interface includes:
Management APIs and SDKs (supporting 30+ languages) for seamless integration.
A Management Dashboard for configuration and analytics.
Actions and Forms, enabling custom logic implementation via no-code visual editors or serverless Node.js code within the identity pipeline."

API
Yes
What users can and can't do using the API
"Setting Up the Service
Auth0 follows an ""API-first"" architecture, allowing developers to instantiate infrastructure programmatically using the Management API v2. For example, you can automate the onboarding of B2B customers using Organizations APIs or establish security perimeters by creating Tenant Access Control rules to block malicious IPs at the edge.

Making Changes
Users can manage configurations dynamically without the visual dashboard. This includes configuring multiple custom domains or updating permissions and collaboration features in real-time via the Fine-Grained Authorization (FGA) API. Additionally, Actions allow you to inject custom Node.js code directly into the authentication pipeline to modify behavior.

Limitations
Rate Limits: The Public Cloud tier is capped at 100 RPS (Requests Per Second) for standard authentication. Handling massive traffic spikes requires upgrading to the Private Cloud, which supports up to 10,000 RPS.
Complexity: Extensive API usage requires developer expertise. Non-technical teams may need to rely on ""No-code"" visual editors like Forms instead."

Customisation available
Yes
Description of customisation
"Based on the Money Slides and Pitchbook, here is a consolidated overview of Auth0 customization:

What Can Be Customized
You can tailor the entire identity lifecycle, from the visual Universal Login experience (logos, fonts, custom domains) to complex backend logic. This includes modifying authentication pipelines, defining Fine-Grained Authorization (FGA) models, and configuring security behaviors like Adaptive MFA triggers and Tenant Access Control rules.

How to Customize
Auth0 provides a ""No-code to Pro-code"" spectrum:
No-Code:Use the visual Forms editor to drag-and-drop sign-up flows or the Dashboard to configure standard security policies.
Pro-Code: Use Actions to inject serverless Node.js code directly into specific identity triggers (e.g., Post-Login, Pre-User Registration). You can also utilize Management APIs and SDKs for infrastructure-as-code implementations.

Who Can Customize
Developers: Execute deep integrations using Actions, APIs, and SDKs.
UX Designers:Craft pixel-perfect login experiences using Advanced Customization for Universal Login.
Security Administrators: Manage threat protection policies and session timeouts.
B2B Customers: Self-manage their own SSO connections and branding via Organizations."

Scaling

Independence of resources
"Being able to scale is only one part of the equation. Today’s users expect a seamless experience while IT adapts to an increasing demand. Interruptions and downtime can severely hurt organization’s productivity. Auth0 is built to handle this challenge with a guaranteed 99.9% uptime, and zero planned downtime. Furthermore, Auth0 has maintained a 100% global uptime in the last 2 years, with no major service disruption, as it scaled 640% in the amount of authentications per month it needed to handle. Auth0 is never taken offline for updates or maintenance.
"

Service usage metrics

Metrics types
"Auth0 provides comprehensive visibility into service usage through its Management Dashboard and Log Streaming capabilities.

Key metrics include detailed Event Logs that track every system interaction, such as successful logins, failed authentication attempts, and API operations for troubleshooting. The Security Center visualizes real-time threat data, displaying metrics on blocked bot attacks, credential stuffing attempts, and suspicious IP throttling.

For compliance and deeper analytics, users can stream these logs to third-party tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog). Additionally, the platform monitors high-availability performance backed by a 99.99% uptime SLA."

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
"Auth0 guarantees a 99.99% Availability Service Level. Should the platform fail to meet this threshold in any given month, Okta provides tiered Service Level Credits based on the actual uptime achieved. These credits scale with the severity of the downtime: a 5% credit for availability below 99.99%, 10% for below 99.9%, 20% for below 99.0%, and a maximum of 50% for availability falling below 95%.

Uniquely, these credits offer genuine financial protection. They are applied to the next invoice or any outstanding fees."
Approach to resilience
Auth0 has a multi data center failover approach using at least one additional availability zone in an alternate geographic location, and multiple regions where available. The main data store is continuously replicated to secondary data center(s), while other less critical data stores are replicated periodically. Replication lag, Recovery Point Objective, and Recovery Time Objective are designed to meet Auth0's Service Level description. Auth0 services are load balanced across active data centers within the deployment region(s). Services are designed to continue to operate in the event of a data center outage. Scaling is implemented and maintained on critical layers such that resources and capacity can be added as needed. Additionally, in many cases, services are designed to degrade gracefully if a dependent service fails. Auth0 reserves the right to alter and supplement all HA and DR strategies with the intention of maintaining existing recovery objectives.
Outage reporting
The service is designed to be highly available with zero down time. When outages are experienced, customer are notified and updated via email and through help desk announcements until the service is back up and running. If there is a workaround available to reduce the outage risk, Okta's Customer Support team will proactively inform customers about such options.
