Our core application runs on AWS Lambda serverless functions that automatically scale and distribute across multiple availability zones. Lambda's inherent design provides fault tolerance by automatically replacing failed function instances without service disruption.

Multi-Region Failover:
We maintain a complete replica environment in AWS US East 1 (Virginia) that mirrors our primary US East 2 (Ohio) infrastructure. This includes:

- Standby database instances with synchronous replication
- Identical security configurations and IAM policies
- Automatic failover capability via DNS or origin configuration updates
- Regular disaster recovery testing (annually)

Database Resilience:
Our RDS databases use multi-availability zone configuration with automatic failover. Hourly snapshots with 30-day retention are replicated to our secondary region, ensuring data protection and rapid recovery.
