Standard Support (9x5) is included as part of the core managed service. It provides support during UK business hours, covering incident management, fault investigation, service requests, and operational queries. Incidents are prioritised by severity with defined response targets. This level is suitable for non-critical or development and test environments and is included in the monthly service charge.
Enhanced Support (24x7) is available as an optional add-on for production or business-critical services. This provides round-the-clock incident response, including out-of-hours support for high-severity incidents, accelerated response times, and proactive operational assistance. Enhanced support is typically priced between £1,500 and £4,000 per month, depending on service scale and complexity.
For customers requiring closer engagement, Millersoft can provide a named Technical Account Manager (TAM) or senior Cloud Support Engineer. This role acts as a primary technical point of contact, providing service oversight, coordination of changes, capacity planning, and regular service reviews. TAM support is offered as an optional service and priced separately, usually on a monthly or retained basis.

Getting started
Millersoft helps users start using the managed RabbitMQ service through a structured onboarding and enablement process designed to minimise time to value. The process begins with an onboarding and discovery phase to understand messaging use cases, integration requirements, security needs, and operational constraints. Based on this, Millersoft designs and deploys a RabbitMQ environment tailored to the customer’s platform and workload requirements.
Users are provided with clear onboarding documentation, including service overviews, architecture diagrams, access instructions, and guidance on creating queues, exchanges, and routing rules. Documentation is written in plain English and supports both application developers and operational teams.
Millersoft delivers remote onboarding sessions to introduce users to RabbitMQ concepts, APIs, and management tools, and to explain support and operational processes. Optional training workshops can be delivered remotely or onsite, covering topics such as messaging patterns, reliability and durability settings, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

End-of-contract data extraction
When the contract for the Millersoft managed RabbitMQ service ends, users are supported through a clear and controlled data extraction and service exit process. RabbitMQ is a messaging platform rather than a long-term data store, and messages are typically transient. However, Millersoft ensures customers can retain control of any data and configuration required for transition.
Users can extract data by draining queues and consuming remaining messages using standard RabbitMQ protocols and client libraries. Where message persistence is enabled, messages can be consumed and transferred to customer-managed systems or successor platforms before service termination. Configuration data, including queue definitions, exchanges, bindings, virtual hosts, users, and permissions, can be exported using RabbitMQ management APIs and tooling.
Millersoft provides off-boarding documentation describing supported export methods and assists customers in planning message draining and configuration export activities. Where required, Millersoft can support coordinated shutdown, message replay strategies, or migration to another messaging platform, subject to agreed scope.
All data extraction is performed over secure, authenticated connections. Once the customer confirms extraction is complete, Millersoft removes access and securely decommissions the service in accordance with agreed retention and security policies, ensuring an orderly and secure exit.
End-of-contract process
Millersoft follows a defined and transparent end-of-contract process for the managed RabbitMQ service to ensure an orderly and secure exit. The process begins with an agreed off-boarding plan that sets out timelines, responsibilities, and exit activities. Millersoft supports customers in safely draining queues, consuming remaining messages, and exporting configuration information such as exchanges, queues, bindings, virtual hosts, users, and permissions using standard RabbitMQ tools and APIs. Exit documentation is provided to guide customers through this process and support transition to a successor service or internal platform.
Once the customer confirms that message draining and configuration export are complete, Millersoft removes user access, decommissions the RabbitMQ environment, and securely deletes any remaining service data in line with agreed retention and security policies. Knowledge transfer and configuration handover are provided to support continuity.
The contract price includes standard off-boarding support, access to exit documentation, guidance on message draining and configuration export, and reasonable assistance during service termination within the agreed contract term.
Additional costs may apply for activities outside the standard scope, such as large-scale migration support, bespoke export tooling, extended exit support beyond agreed timescales, onsite assistance, or accelerated termination requests. Any additional costs are agreed in advance with the customer.

Users can use standard RabbitMQ protocols and management APIs to publish and consume messages, create and manage queues, exchanges, bindings, and define routing rules. These APIs enable applications to integrate RabbitMQ into asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures.
Users cannot use the API to provision the underlying RabbitMQ service itself. Initial service setup, including cluster creation, core broker configuration, networking, storage, and security baselines, is performed by Millersoft as part of the managed service to ensure consistency, resilience, and compliance.
Authorised users can make changes through the API within agreed boundaries and role-based permissions. Users cannot use the API to change platform-wide settings, underlying infrastructure, cluster topology, or security architecture. Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
Millersoft guarantees service availability for the managed RabbitMQ service through defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) agreed with customers. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the service has a target availability of 99.5% per calendar month, excluding planned maintenance, customer-caused outages, and failures of customer-provided infrastructure. Availability applies to the core RabbitMQ broker service and agreed supporting components and is measured using service monitoring and health checks.
The service is designed to minimise unplanned downtime through high-availability configurations, clustering, monitoring, and controlled operational processes. Planned maintenance activities, such as upgrades and security patching, are scheduled in advance and communicated to customers and are excluded from availability calculations.
If availability falls below the agreed SLA in a given month, customers may be entitled to service credits. Service credits are calculated as a percentage of the monthly service charge based on the level of availability achieved. Credits are applied as an adjustment to a future invoice and are not paid as cash refunds. Total service credits are capped to ensure they remain proportionate.
Service credits are the customer’s sole and exclusive remedy for availability SLA breaches. Repeated or significant SLA failures trigger a service review and corrective action plan to improve service reliability.
Approach to resilience
Millersoft designs the managed RabbitMQ service to be resilient in line with Government’s Cloud Security Principle on asset protection and resilience. The service is deployed on resilient, government-aligned cloud or on-premise infrastructure designed to tolerate component failure and support rapid recovery. Detailed information about physical data centre design, redundancy, and geographic resilience is available on request to support customer assurance activities.
At the platform level, RabbitMQ is deployed using clustered configurations to avoid single points of failure. Queues and exchanges can be mirrored or quorum-based to ensure message durability and continuity if individual nodes fail. Automatic leader election and node failover allow messaging workloads to continue operating during component outages.
Where Kubernetes or virtualised environments are used, resilience is enhanced through pod or node replication, health checks, and automated restarts. Underlying compute, storage, and networking services benefit from the cloud provider’s built-in redundancy and isolation controls.
Continuous monitoring of broker health, queue status, message rates, and cluster state enables early detection of issues and rapid operational response. Regular backups of configuration data support recovery from misconfiguration or operational error. Controlled change management and planned maintenance processes further reduce the risk of service disruption, ensuring reliable and consistent messaging for users.
Outage reporting
Millersoft reports service outages and significant incidents through clear, timely, and transparent communication channels agreed with customers. When an outage or service degradation is detected through monitoring or customer reports, the incident is logged and assessed to determine severity and potential impact. For high-severity incidents, customers are notified promptly using agreed notification methods, such as email, secure messaging, or a customer support portal.
Initial notifications provide a summary of the issue, affected services, and immediate actions being taken. During an ongoing outage, Millersoft provides regular status updates at defined intervals, particularly for critical incidents, to keep customers informed of progress toward restoration. Updates include changes in impact, mitigation steps, and estimated time to resolution where available.
Once the incident is resolved, a closure notification is issued confirming service restoration. For significant outages, Millersoft can provide a post-incident report outlining the root cause, resolution steps, and any corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Outage information may also be reviewed as part of regular service management meetings. This approach ensures customers are kept informed throughout incidents and have clear visibility of service health and reliability.
