Onboarding and offboarding
- Getting started
- Users are supported in getting started through a combination of documentation, guided setup, and optional training and onboarding support. The service provides online documentation and knowledge‑base guides covering initial setup, configuration, backup scope selection, restore procedures, and ongoing administration. These materials are available online and are designed to support self‑service onboarding for administrators and authorised users. Initial implementation is supported through a guided onboarding process, which includes authorising access to the Microsoft 365 tenant, auto‑discovery of workloads and users, and default backup configuration. This requires minimal manual setup and no local software installation. For buyers using a service provider, remote onboarding assistance and administrator walkthroughs can be provided to help with configuration, permissions, and best‑practice setup. Ongoing assistance is available through email, online ticketing, and support documentation, enabling users to become familiar with the service and operate it independently after initial setup.

- End-of-contract data extraction
- On the termination date, the customer’s tenant ID is removed from the ConnectwiseCB configuration, the account is deleted, and all backed-up data is permanently deleted by ConnectwiseCB. While the contract is still active, users (or Transputec support acting on their behalf) can extract data by: Restoring data back into Microsoft 365 using ConnectwiseCB’s one‑click or granular restore features (emails, files, mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, EntraID, etc.) Performing full mailbox, site, or account restores to ensure all historical versions are returned to the tenant before cancellation. Using the ConnectwiseCB Self‑Service Portal (if enabled) or raising a support request with Transputec to complete restores prior to offboarding. Once the contract ends, data cannot be retrieved. Customers are responsible for ensuring all required restores are completed before termination.
- End-of-contract process
- At the termination date, Transputec removes the customer’s Microsoft 365 tenant ID from the ConnectwiseCB configuration and the ConnectwiseCB account is deleted. Following this, all backed‑up customer data held within ConnectwiseCB is permanently deleted. There is no data retention, escrow, or post‑termination access. Customers are therefore responsible for restoring all required data back into Microsoft 365 before the contract ends. After termination, data recovery is not possible. Included in the Contract Price The standard Connectwse Cloud Backup price through Transputec includes: Unlimited backup and retention for supported Microsoft 365 workloads (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams) Up to six automated backups per day Granular and full restores, including point‑in‑time recovery Secure storage with encryption Initial onboarding and standard configuration using the tenant ID Access to documentation and standard support in line with the agreed service level These features are bundled into the per‑user annual price and do not attract additional fees during normal operation. Additional Costs Enhanced or bespoke support services (e.g. advanced managed services, extended support levels) Web chat support, where required, as it is listed as an extra‑cost option Custom service scopes beyond the standard backup offering (pricing based on agreed scope)
- Documentation accessibility standard
- None or don’t know
- How the documentation is accessible
- Onboarding and offboarding documentation is provided in accessible digital formats and is designed to be usable by a wide range of users and devices. Documentation is primarily delivered as HTML web pages, allowing access through standard web browsers and compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, and browser zoom functions. Content follows clear structure, headings, and plain language to support readability. Where documentation is provided in PDF format, it is made available as downloadable files that can be viewed using standard PDF readers and accessibility features such as text selection, zoom, and screen‑reader support where enabled. All documentation is available online, with no requirement for specialist software or local installation. Users can access onboarding and offboarding guidance on desktop, tablet, or mobile devices. There is no offline or paper‑based documentation.

- Differences between the mobile and desktop service
- The service is accessed through the same web interface on both mobile and desktop devices. On desktop browsers, users have access to the full feature set, including detailed configuration, administration, and full restore capabilities. On mobile devices, the interface is usable but not optimised for smaller screens, and functionality is limited in practice. Mobile access is suitable for viewing status information, checking alerts, and interacting with support features, but complex administrative tasks and large‑scale restore operations are best performed on a desktop or laptop.
- Service interface
- Yes
- User support accessibility
- None or don’t know
- Description of service interface
- Connectwise Cloud Backup provides a web‑based service interface that allows authorised users and administrators to manage the service. The interface is accessed through a secure web portal and does not require any locally installed software. Through the interface, users can configure backups, monitor backup status, perform search and restore operations, and access support features. A self‑service restore interface is also available, enabling authorised users to locate and restore data without direct administrator involvement.
- Accessibility standards
- None or don’t know
- Description of accessibility
- Accessed through a modern browser on desktop or mobile devices. Users can navigate the interface using standard browser controls, keyboard input, and screen‑reader software. Authorised users can manage backups, view service status, search for backed‑up data, restore items, and access support features. The interface is usable but not formally certified against specific accessibility standards. Users may experience limitations when using assistive technologies for complex administrative tasks or detailed configuration screens. The service does not provide a dedicated mobile app or offline access, and full administrative functionality is best performed on a desktop or laptop browser.
- Accessibility testing
- General usability testing has been carried out as part of routine service development, but this did not specifically include accessibility‑focused testing or validation against assistive technology use cases. As a result, while some assistive technologies may work with the service due to its web‑based nature, compatibility and user experience are not formally assured.
- API
- No
- Customisation available
- Yes
- Description of customisation
- What can be customised Users can customise the service through configuration options within the platform. This includes selecting which Microsoft 365 workloads are backed up (such as Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams), managing backup scope and retention settings, configuring alerts and notifications, assigning restore permissions, enabling or restricting self‑service restores, and selecting data residency regions (where available). Support arrangements and service levels can also be tailored through separate contractual agreements with the service provider. How users can customise Customisation is carried out using the web‑based administration interface. Settings are adjusted through menus and configuration screens, with changes applied at tenant or user level. No coding, scripting, or software installation is required, and all changes take effect within the constraints of the standard service. Who can customise Customisation can be performed by authorised administrators within the buyer’s organisation, typically Microsoft 365 Global Administrators or users with delegated administrative roles. End users may have limited configuration options (such as self‑service restores) if explicitly enabled by administrators.
Scaling
- Independence of resources
- Connectwise Cloud Backup protects users from the impact of other customers’ demand through a multi‑tenant architecture built on Microsoft Azure, which provides elastic scaling, workload isolation, and throttling controls. Backups and restores use Microsoft 365 and Azure APIs that enforce per‑tenant limits, ensuring one customer’s activity cannot monopolise resources. ConnectwiseCB also applies job scheduling, queue management, and automated retries to smooth peak demand and avoid contention. Data is logically segregated by tenant, and performance is continuously monitored so capacity can scale proactively. This design helps ensure consistent performance and service availability for all users, even during high usage periods.
Analytics
- Service usage metrics
- Yes
- Metrics types
- Connectwise Cloud Backup provides operational service metrics via its management portal to support monitoring and assurance. Metrics include backup status and health, last successful backup time, backup frequency (up to six snapshots per day), and coverage of protected Microsoft 365 objects (mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams). Users can also view restore job status, restore history, and receive alerts/notifications for backup failures or issues. These metrics focus on service reliability and data protection visibility, rather than detailed capacity or usage analytics.

Data importing and exporting
- Data export approach
- Users export their data by restoring it back into Microsoft 365 before the contract ends. Connectwise Cloud Backup does not support direct data downloads or file exports. Instead, users (or Transputec support) use the ConnectwiseCB portal to restore individual items or entire mailboxes, OneDrive accounts, SharePoint sites, or Teams data back into the live Microsoft 365 tenant. Once restored, data can be exported using native Microsoft 365 tools (for example, eDiscovery or file downloads). After contract termination, the ConnectwiseCB account is deleted and all backup data is permanently removed, so exports must be completed in advance.

- Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels
- Access is controlled through a defence-in-depth approach, applying least privilege principles and role-based access controls (RBAC). Management interfaces require Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and conditional access policies, ensuring only compliant or hybrid-joined devices can connect. Privileged roles are managed via Just-in-Time (JIT) access using Privileged Identity Management (PIM), with break-glass accounts for emergencies. Support channels enforce strict governance through tiered administration, scheduled access reviews, and automated expiry for external identities. Sensitive operations are logged centrally for audit, and group management features are restricted to prevent unauthorised changes. These measures ensure secure, monitored, and compliant access across all management and support environments.

Operational security
- Configuration and change management standard
- Complies with a recognised standard, for example CSA CCM v4.0 or SSAE-18 / ISAE 3402
- Configuration and change management approach
- Our configuration and change management framework ensures all service components are tracked throughout their lifecycle via accurate configuration records and application matrices. Changes follow a formal Request for Change (RFC) process, submitted through our ITSM and reviewed by the Change Advisory Board (CAB) before implementation. Security impact is assessed at CAB evaluation, aligning with ISO 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus standards. Baseline configurations are reviewed quarterly, and all adjustments comply with SLAs and security policies. Governance mechanisms, including risk controls and transparent reporting, maintain compliance and minimise vulnerabilities, ensuring stability and continuous improvement across services.
- Vulnerability management type
- Complies with a recognised standard, for example CSA CCM v4.0 or SSAE-18 / ISAE 3402
- Vulnerability management approach
- Transputec proactively assess potential threats through continuous vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and risk analysis aligned with ISO 27001:2022 and CyberEssentials NIST standards. Threat intelligence is sourced from trusted feeds such as vendor advisories, CVE databases, and security partners, supplemented by automated tools like Qualys and Microsoft Defender. Identified vulnerabilities are prioritised based on severity and business impact, with critical patches deployed within 24–48 hours and standard updates scheduled according to our change management process. Regular monitoring, monthly reports, and governance reviews ensure compliance and rapid response, minimising exposure and maintaining the integrity and resilience of our services.
- Protective monitoring type
- Complies with a recognised standard, for example CSA CCM v4.0 or SSAE-18 / ISAE 3402
- Protective monitoring approach
- Transputec identify potential compromises through 24/7 monitoring by our Network Operations Centre (NOC) and Security Operations Centre (SOC), leveraging tools like Huntress, Threatspike and Servicely boards for alerts and investigations. Indicators include intrusion detection, file integrity monitoring, and credential anomaly analysis. When a compromise is suspected, incidents are triaged immediately, escalated to the SOC team, and containment actions begin within minutes. The process follows six phases: detection, analysis, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review. Critical incidents trigger rapid escalation to 3rd-line teams and senior management, ensuring response within SLA targets—typically immediate acknowledgement and resolution within hours for high-severity cases.
- Incident management type
- Complies with a recognised standard, for example, CSA CCM v4.0 or ISO/IEC 27035:2011 or SSAE-18 / ISAE 3402
- Incident management approach
- Transputec operate a structured Incident Management framework with pre-defined workflows for common events such as service outages, security breaches, and access issues. Users report incidents via the Service Desk portal, email, or phone, ensuring immediate logging and categorisation. Each incident is prioritised based on impact and urgency, then assigned to the appropriate resolver group. Communication is maintained throughout, and major incidents trigger escalation to senior management. Incident reports, including root cause analysis and corrective actions, are provided through formal post-incident reviews and documented in Servicely for audit and compliance. This approach ensures rapid resolution and continuous service improvement.
