[Create new businesses, new jobs and new skills] -
Huntsman solutions are designed to provide functionality that aids the role of the security analyst, enabling junior or less experienced staff to play an active role in cyber defence either in a first line role with a security operations centre (SOC) in alert triage (the Protective Monitoring solution) or in undertaking security posture management and threat exposure assessment/audit activities (the Security Scorecard). With cyber security being a segment that is in high demand for skills and growing fast this is often cited as a benefit.
[Increase supply chain resilience and capacity] -
Huntsman’s Security Scorecard solution allows the automatic and real-time monitoring of cyber security controls and risk posture. This can be focussed on the organisation itself or be used to track the delivery of IT partners or even extended to encompass supply chain partners that might be hosting systems or storing and processing data.
This allows the reporting on cyber security protection levels within the systems managed by third parties or in cloud-hosted environments that are at arm’s length from the users/customer organisation.
Most alternatives to this type of continuous threat exposure management (CTEM) revolve around supplier-completed survey/questionnaires – that have little rigour and are unreliable - or the use of in-person visits or audits that are expensive in resource costs (even more so when undertaken by consultants). The scalability that automated security measurement and risk management provides allows greater assurance across a greater portion of the extended IT estate, thus improving capacity within the security function and increasing resilience of the service delivery that the systems support.
