Fighting climate change
We are committed to minimising the environmental impact we create from our service offering, across a range of areas including premises, energy usage, recycling, paper, and travel. We encourage associates delivering our services to suggest any additional areas where we could improve environmental performance.
Our Head Office is located within a shared modern energy-efficient building, with limited space to minimise the impact of heating, lighting etc, and use communal facilities. The office has sensor low energy lighting, and all IT equipment purchased within the last three years to incorporate energy improvements/efficiency.
We actively promote recycling across our services to avoid landfill waste. In conjunction with the building managers, we incorporate waste collection, all inclusive recycling, and general waste. When equipment reaches end-of-life, it is decommissioned/recycled in-line with WEEE regulations. Across our service offering we avoid unnecessary use of paper and printing, seeking to provide deliverables digitally, together with digital dashboard reporting, e-timesheets, e-invoicing, and e-payments.
All staff and associates are encouraged to use public transport to travel to our Head Office and, wherever practical, when working on Buyer sites. We utilise remote working and video conferencing to avoid any unnecessary travel and aim to deploy locally based candidates in-line with economic inequality goals, to reduce travel. We also seek to support any environmental initiatives operated by buyers. We seek to understand these and ensure that all our consultants are aware of and follow any local policies on buyer sites.
Finally, we seek to build environmental sustainability into deliverables, identifying how to make use of technology, shared services, and ecofriendly/reused equipment/data centres.Covid-19 recovery
The service offering seeks to work with organisations in progressing the recovery of Covid-19, through developing new ways of working, driving technology improvements that allow remote working, and global communication, and who are delivery critical services to the UK public that will reduce the impacts of Covid-19.
In-line with fighting climate change and wellbeing, we drive remote working, where appropriate, and therefore proactively work with associates and staff who have been impacted negatively by Covid and/or who are unable to travel into office due to related illness and shielding. We offer private medical benefits, to reduce the demand on public healthcare services, and deliver mental health schemes and collective initiatives to drive collaboration, physical activities, and mental wellbeing.Tackling economic inequality
Within our service offering we are committed to tackling economic inequality, both through changes to working practices and developing opportunities within local communities. Our staff and consultants working with client across the UK are drawn from the surrounding neighbourhoods and often have existing connections and relationships which the buyers, their engagements, and the impact they have on the public. We encourage both our staff and our associates to engage with local communities, including volunteering.
Our service offering is built to work with SME organisations to create new opportunities and open doors to learn new skills. Through show and tells, upskilling, training, and mentoring we create employment opportunities with our service, with a specific goal of working with local communities and residents. Our offering is to deliver a valued service that leaves our customer in a better place, therefore we collaborate with them to champion the creation of employment opportunities and to fill skills gaps in their teams.Equal opportunity
We promote equal opportunities to support people, particularly those from disadvantaged or minority backgrounds. Our approach to resourcing of assignments is an exemplar for promoting best practice in equality, diversity, and inclusion. We consider diversity and inclusion on every assignment, where we actively track this to ensure we continue to uphold our commitment to equality. We work closely with our partner organisations who share our commitment to equal opportunities, and Leadership Team includes a Diversity Champion to drive our values.
We work with the LGBTi+, BAME and disabled community to gain a strong understanding of the issues and challenges faced by in securing employment opportunities, but are never complacent and continue to learn. We have a dedicated Board Member responsible for diversity, and we run a diversity working group with LGBTi+ and BAME representatives, identifying any issues and disseminating these to the wider company. All staff are trained in diversity and receive regular update training in best practice. All our delivery specialists hold Level 2 qualifications in Diversity.
When fulfilling our service, we advertise across a broad range of portals to maximise reach, including specialist diversity job boards (diversity.io, even break) and diversity-focused LinkedIn groups.
We believe in a vision for a society where everyone is ambitious for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions and where people understand and act positively upon the important relationship between health, work, and disability. As a result, we seek to promote wherever possible the increased representation of disabled people in the workforce.Wellbeing
We seek proactive promotion of physical and mental wellbeing of staff. Through our Employee Assistance Programme, all staff have access to 24x7 mental health support through phone, email, and WhatsApp. We also encourage staff to use apps such as Unmind and Headspace for guided meditations and self-help support on reducing stress, supporting mental health and relaxation, and improving restful sleep; we fund subscriptions to these apps for staff on request. We also promote a sense of community across our associates, running events to allow them to socialise and share both best practice and any concerns.
When delivering our offering, our approach is to work as a team who are supported by us centrally and who support each other. As part of the management layer we put in place, all our teams are able to reach out to our experienced head office team. In many cases, our senior managers have worked on or led similar projects and programmes and can act as a source of support and guidance. Subject always to confidentiality, we can also share best practice and ideas across our wider portfolio of similar assignments, to provide additional support.
