Fighting climate change

We are evaluated by Super Critical, an organisation specialising in getting businesses to Carbon Neutrality, currently we are on track to hit nett zero by 2025.

Our current emission level is 1.63 tCO2e per employee.

Specific Project Actions to Reduce Emissions;
Our project teams work with customers to:

- Minimise power consumption by auditing and managing our use of server assets during the build process
- Build solutions that optimise power consumption and compute resources
- Reduce consumable consumption to absolute minimums
- Reduce reporting to an effective minimum
- Eliminate avoidable duplication in communications, e.g., email proliferation
- Offset emissions by contributing to GLC’s offset plan
- Eliminate rework by achieving excellence in design and development

Covid-19 recovery

We have adopted a hybrid model that allows all GLC staffers to enjoy the same remote working, four-day delivery, one-day optimisation package giving immense flexibility for work-life balance and well-being from day one of employment. The team operates on a rota for the 5th day to ensure that no lapse in support is perceivable externally and thus our ability to meet SLAs is unaffected.

The MyLife scheme was introduced in 2020 to provide all staff with the opportunity to create their own life-work balance, protecting their mental health and encouraging performance optimisation during the Covid crisis. Under MyLife everyone gets to design their own working patterns, project schedule and training/development path.

GLC pay scales are applied as role-based remunerations which trigger automatically on certifications, upgrades to skills sets etc. There is no pay gap at GLC between genders or any other non-skill-based criteria.

Wellbeing

The SODA Scheme (Support, Opportunity, Develop, Award) was introduced in 2019 and provides a funded scheme to recognise and support our staff. 

In addition to personal development, we have invested in a well-being scheme delivered by an external consultant supported by access to online learning.

Under the scheme every member of staff has a budget of £1,500 per annum which is theirs to spend on personal development (online courses, books, etc). 

The scheme also provides coaching and opportunities to contribute to local communities.

Green Lemon Company operates an internal appraisal system, under which everyone gets two structured and two optional appraisals per year.  These appraisals offer opportunity to assess progress, set development goals and agree training requirements and ensure individuals achieve growth and experience.
