Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
Kyndryl provides services covering the entire digital service development lifecycle, including Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live stages. Our user-centred approach enables us to build services focused on the needs of users, policy and organisation. Our teams work closely with stakeholders from the early phases of policy development through to the live deployment of a service. As standard, our teams follow and adopt the Government Design Standards, Service Manual and Technology Code of Practice.

We adopt a robust, best-practice process and methodology: Look, Understand, Make.

Look:
Discovering what motivates different stakeholders in the project, defining a clear and defensible problem statement, and creating a hypothesis that you can test, learn from and iterate, setting an overall direction for the project

Understand:
A focus on understanding the problem through observation and analysis. Turning observations into insights, understanding the ‘jobs to be done’, and analysing the problem through four lenses: desirability, feasibility, viability, and impact

Make:
Leverages the importance of making and testing, rapidly, to learn and develop technical solutions. This involves envisioning possible futures by analysing trends, creating an experience-based roadmap, and testing and iterating on solutions to refine and improve them.

Training

Training service provided
Yes
How the training service works
Our training is developed collaboratively with customers and will be scoped to meet the requirements of a specific call-off. Training planning typically starts with a Training Needs Analysis (TNA). The TNA assesses the target audience and their training requirements to identify what training is required and how it should be delivered.
The key features of our training approach are:
- Ease of use;
- A blended learning approach that combines a mix of online self-study, webinars and classroom training tailored to different groups, training needs, learning styles and geographical locations;
- A recognition of the need to deliver training at the key stages of the programme, whilst minimising time away from the business;
- A focus on providing users with the materials and ability to conduct training in their own time in their own location;
- A ‘train the trainer’ approach to enable the customer to train users who do require face to face training and feedback processes to measure the take-up and effectiveness of training, with fast and flexible mechanisms to update training materials and training delivery mechanisms.

How the setup or migration service works
Kyndryl excels in supporting public sector clients with migrating services, including both cloud-based solutions and legacy systems. Our Design thinking workshops identify the current-state data capabilities and possible benefits, in turn creating a more streamlined process. Collaboratively, we devise a comprehensive roadmap to seamlessly transition your service to the cloud.

Our solutions are technology-agnostic, meaning we provide objective and impartial recommendations suited to your specific requirements and organisational objectives. Our teams work alongside you to select the most appropriate, sustainable solutions and collaborate to define requirements for managing, supporting, and continuously enhancing and evolving your service.

We assemble teams with a balanced blend of experience and skills, encompassing advisory expertise as well as deep technical proficiency in the cloud domain.
Our proven method for migration ensures data is moved successfully and efficiently transitioned to the cloud. With our trusted partnership with market leading migration solutions ensure we can help you make the most of the transition, creating a bespoke solution based on your specific requirements.

Support response times
Kyndryl will define and agree appropriate service levels and response times for each particular implementation based on business need. Service levels are defined by categorising incident types according to severity, with response times per category of severity, for example Severity 1, 2 and 3.
We would typically monitor e-Mail/Ticketing/Telephone 24/7, categorising the incident, and invoking the appropriate SLA. Severity 1/2 incidents can be prioritised for weekend responses whereas Severity 3 would typically attract a response during office hours (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5).

Fighting climate change

From committing to reach net zero greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions to educating our people on sustainability, Kyndryl is dedicated to ensuring a culture to drive positive environmental impact at scale. Our commitment to fight climate change, ensure a sustainable business model and achieve net zero is fully detailed in our Corporate Citizenship Report (CCR)
(https://www.kyndryl.com/content/dam/kyndrylprogram/cs_ar_as/kyndryl-fiscal-year-2023-corporate-citizenship-report.pdf).

Kyndryl’s net zero commitment includes absolute reductions across scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. We have set our targets to align with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our 2030 targets are 75% reduction in scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions, 50% reduction in overall GHG emissions, including scope 3, across our global enterprise and 100% of purchased electricity to be obtained from renewable sources.

To understand Kyndryl’s climate risk, we conducted a physical risk assessment by analysing asset-specific current and emerging climate hazards across key business-critical facilities that align with our organisational boundaries and footprint. We also conducted a transitional risk assessment to identify potential policy, regulatory, market and reputational impacts across our business and operations. For more on these assessments, please refer to Kyndryl’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report in the CCR. To address our operational climate risk, Kyndryl developed a GHG inventory management plan using software to track, measure and manage our program and outline roles and responsibilities across the enterprise. We also worked with key functional areas to address climate risks in our supply chain. We continue to improve this process to reflect ongoing changes in standards, frameworks and regulations.

Kyndryl is working with Microsoft to provide sustainability thought leadership in our jointly commissioned Barometer Report (https://www.kyndryl.com/content/dam/kyndrylprogram/cs_ar_as/global-sustainability-barometer.pdf), the study not only delves into the pressing priorities impacting current global business practices but also provides valuable insight to empower organisations within the supply chain on their sustainability journeys.

Tackling economic inequality

Kyndryl aims to create employment and training opportunities that tackle inequality, particularly for those who face barriers to employment and/or who are in deprived areas and for people in industries with known skills shortages or in high growth sectors.

Kyndryl’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) function develops programmes that focus on inclusive workforce development and education, which raise the profile of this issue with employees and provide opportunities for them to make an impact through giving and/or volunteering. Kyndryl’s talent acquisition strategy includes a strand based on partnerships with charities and other 3rd sector organisations that will provide training and employment opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds. Where possible Kyndryl will look to transfer apprenticeship levy funds to organisations training people to meet demand in sectors with skills shortages or high growth.

We are members of the Responsible Business Alliance(RBA). The RBA is the world’s largest industry coalition dedicated to corporate social responsibility in global supply chains. For our SME supply chains, in particular the local supply chain in the UK, we have invested in our internal processes and teams to ensure we build and manage supply chains responsibly and are fully adopting the RBA Code of Conduct, implementing its set of social, environmental and ethical industry standards.

We work across a range of charitable partners to promote economic equality at a company level including The Prince’s Trust, Business in the Community and we use our Deed platform to facilitate our employees in providing volunteering time to charitable causes.

Equal opportunity

Kyndryl promotes equal opportunities and diversity within its staff and extensive supply chain. We embed diversity and inclusion principles at the very top of the organisation through the composition of our board, which exceeds the S&P 500 average for diversity.

We recruit, promote and compensate employees without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, pregnancy, disability, age and other characteristics. Managers and employees are expected to foster a work environment free of all forms of discrimination, harassment, bullying and retaliation. All employees are required to complete mandatory annual diversity and inclusion training.

Kyndryl's approach to diversity and inclusion promotes allyship, space for diverse voices and the provision of Kyndryl Inclusion Networks(Kins) to support employee communities, including BAME, LGBTQ+ and women in technology. Managers use the results of regular employee engagement surveys to track motivation and improve working practices. We provide our employees with opportunities to engage in online conversations about the company’s practices and purpose.

Our policy is to encourage diverse businesses within our supply chain by ensuring the opportunity to participate in all areas of Kyndryl's marketing, procurement and contracting activities. This policy applies to all firms or institutions regardless of the business owner's race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.

We have developed close working relationships with the WEConnect International NGO for the EMEA region. In doing so, we have assisted in the acceptance of Supplier Diversity as part of the business culture of the region, and thereby, we are advocating for a program that provides enhanced economic opportunities to traditionally disenfranchised diversity groups in each country in which we operate.
