Fighting climate change

Marra is fully committed to supporting and promoting a sustainable environment.

In our first year of operating, we have actively operated in such a way so as to support the environment, including encouraging all
Marra employees to travel to work using public transport (where reasonably possible), supporting our clients remotely thus minimising any air time client travel and opting to use trains.

Marra consciously opted to reside in the town of Gateshead in the North East of England specifically the Technology Business Park (Northern Design Centre) where there is an active strategy to strive to be net zero by 2030 and a strong focus on use of renewable energy.

Covid-19 recovery

As a growing consultancy enterprise founded post Covid-19, Marra is built on a strong sense of social value and supported by a B Corp-certified sister organisation that provides many of our core services (such as IT/Finance etc).

Despite being founded post Covid-19, building social value across our business is essential for maintaining our culture and community. Our approach to social value spans across all elements of the Marra business, including actively supporting our community wellbeing whilst creating a strong sense of human connection and belonging.

Our inclusive approach to growth, builds resilience and adaptability in our team, whilst ensuring an equitable culture for everyone that supports individual wellbeing and fairness.

Tackling economic inequality

Within the Marra business our strong sense of social responsibility, means that driving economic equality is important to us. Our Marra employees are paid fairly for their work alongside regular cost of living reviews. In addition to their renumeration packages, they are able to take advantage of other key financial benefits such as retirement savings plans. Our headquarters are in Gateshead so we can tap into a diverse range of talent including left behind communities.

Outside of financial support, Marra fosters an inclusive workplace that values diversity and actively seeks to provide opportunities for individuals from diverse or disadvantaged backgrounds. Our education and training approach supports each of our employees to acquire new skills and advance their careers thereby creating a platform for them to increase their earning potential.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives allow us to engage in activities that support community development, often partnering with organisations to help promote career development and job opportunities. Marra sponsors and partners with a number of organisations across the North East region to support such initiatives.

By living by these strategies and initiatives, this allows Marra to play a role in addressing economic inequality and thus promoting greater economic opportunities for all.

Equal opportunity

Marra was founded with a strong sense of purpose and ambition to support equal opportunities for all. This is possible through the use of the low code technology, specifically Microsoft’s Power Platform, which provides an entry point for people from diverse backgrounds into a tech career. We are committed to reskilling and providing careers for women and men from diverse backgrounds, creating a new generation of low-code technologists, people who bring their life and previous career experiences to build technology that meets the needs of everyone in society.

In order to support our approach to equal opportunities we actively adopt diverse hiring practices, ensuring that we recruit from diverse talent pools with a strong focus on ensuring unconscious bias is reduced and any external job adverts are inclusive and accessible to all. Our job offers come with renumeration packages that are fair and equal for the work or role being offered regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or other characteristics.

The Marra culture provides an inclusive workplace with policies that foster respect, fairness and equality. This spans across a number of initiatives include flexible and hybrid working arrangements, promotion of work life balance and providing support for employees with caregiving responsibilities. Part of everyday life at Marra is the strong supportive community through active mentorship programmes, networking opportunities and a collaborative ‘open door’ approach.

Here at Marra we remain steadfast at driving equality across all aspects of the business and delivering on our contribution to address barriers to entry into the tech industry and ensuring fairness across all approaches and in our culture.

Wellbeing

Here at Marra our employees are an essential part of our business, therefore supporting individuals well being is part of our DNA. We focus on fostering a healthy and positive environment for all – including employees, our customers and communities we engage with.

As a starting point our workplace culture promotes a supportive and inclusive environment where employees and others that we interact with feel valued, respected and heard.

We offer flexible working to all our employees and every role can be performed full or part-time. We run a synchronised hybrid model, everyone works together in the office Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and works from home Thursday and Friday. This allows us to create meaningful workplace engagement, helps our culture, client engagement and most importantly our employee wellbeing.

Outside of our ways of working, we ensure our employees have access to employee assistance programmes, wellness initiatives and mental health support. Our external community engagement allows our employees to ‘give back’ and sign up to volunteer and support opportunities which contribute to their sense of fulfilment and wellbeing.

Marra’s approach to continuous personal development in conjunction with recognition and reward supports individual contributions which naturally boosts morale and reinforces a positive working environment.
Prioritising the wellbeing of Marra employees and stakeholders we create an environment for not only individual health and happiness but improved overall productivity for the business.
