Edge Health can build the software to the specifications of the customer. This will be agreed in advance.

Independence of resources
Where possible, the software will be built with scalability in mind, using serverless and orchestration technologies to ensure services automatically scale to demand with no input from the customer or the supplier. For software that can’t be built with scalable infrastructure, agreements will be made on availability and concurrent users for the service. However, this will be unique to your service and will not be affected by other customers' workloads.

Operational security

Configuration and change management standard
Supplier-defined controls
Configuration and change management approach
Where possible, changes will be made utilising continuous integration/continuous deployment to ensure no downtime of the service while changes are made. This will also be undertaken out of hours. Where CI/CD is not feasible, changes will be made out of hours within a pre-agreed change window. Customers will also be notified of any changes made to running services in advance.
Vulnerability management type
Supplier-defined controls
Vulnerability management approach
Any resources used will undergo vulnerability scanning both before deployment and on a regular basis throughout the lifetime of the resource. Any vulnerabilities will be addressed swiftly, and where changes are required will be communicated and carried out according to our specifications in ‘Configuration and change management approach'. In addition to this, we monitor vulnerabilities published by any suppliers we use and assess the impact this has on our service and any changes required to mitigate.
Protective monitoring type
Supplier-defined controls
Protective monitoring approach
Security measures are in place to reduce the risk of breaches and compromises. These include deploying software to separate private networks with firewalls to limit access to the minimum required for the service to operate. Where appropriate, communication between the customer and the service will take place across the HSCN.
Incident management type
Supplier-defined controls
Incident management approach
Edge Health has a major incident process as part of its ISO 27001 and 9001 accreditations. All incidents are logged and assessed to understand the appropriate action to take. Fighting climate change

Fighting climate change

Edge Health has a corporate objective to be carbon-neutral within three years and carbon-negative within five years and is working towards ISO14001 for 2022 (the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system) to complement its ISO9001 (quality management) and 27001 (secure information management) accreditations. Edge Health are committed to continually improving our approach to contributing to net-zero carbon including: • In line with our sustainability targets, we propose to deliver this project remotely, with online meetings through Microsoft Teams and digital outputs to reduce our carbon footprint. • If workshops are face to face we will use venues close to public transport links to encourage participants to use the most resource-effective travel methods. • Setting up micro-website to avoid participants printing out paper-based materials. • In our offices using LED lighting, encouraging turning off lights, enabling energy-saving and battery-saving modules on all our PC and mobile work devices. • Recycling where possible and moving away from single-use items and encouraging staff not to print out any documents to reduce printing and paper use. • Using recycled resources such as second-hand office furniture. • As we are based in central London, we encourage all staff to use public transport, cycling, walking and limiting car use. • Taking a hybrid approach for attendance in our office, split home working and office attendance and maximise the use of online meetings. • Encouraging our office landlord to instal low-carbon heating technology and use renewable energy suppliers. • Offsetting Carbon emissions through funding solutions and we are planning to join a tree planting scheme.
Covid-19 recovery

Covid-19 recovery

Edge Health has provided leading analytics on COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Insights from this analysis have been widely reported in national and international media. Edge Health continues to provide leading analysis and support to organisations that are seeking to manage and recover from the impact of the COVID-19. This includes working with NHS organisations on their recovery and management of their backlog activity, such as for planned care.
Tackling economic inequality

Tackling economic inequality

Edge Health work across the NHS in England and Wales. Through this work, Edge Health help to identify variations in outcomes, or potential inequalities in the delivery of services. This work has and continues to help organisations to respond to the challenges of inequalities, which are often not visible due to poor recording or reporting.
Equal opportunity

Equal opportunity

Edge Health is an inclusive employer and has diversity and inclusion policies covering all aspects of employment, from vacancy advertising, interviewing, selection, and training to conditions of service and reasons for termination of employment. This is supported by a clear internal policy, which forms part of our ISO9001 accreditation. We are committed to opposing all forms of discrimination in the workplace and have diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies. These principles of non-discrimination and equality of opportunity apply to the way in which staff, visitors, clients, customers, suppliers and former employees are treated. Adherence to these principles will be monitored throughout the delivery of this service. Investing in local communities is key to our social value plans Edge Health provides extensive work experience and internship opportunities, which help young people gain relevant experience. These placements are funded to ensure that a diverse group of people apply. We would aim to include one individual in Edge Health’s Internship programme as part of the project team in order to offer them an opportunity to learn more about healthcare and the economics of data. While the direct aim of this project does not involve activities with the local community, benefits realised by using your organisation's data may have positive externalities on local communities across the country through improved access to, and quality of, health services.

Edge Health monitors pay and equality of opportunity. Everyone at Edge Health has a mentor and works together as a team to ensure everyone is treated the same. Edge Health provides team and grade training, which is open to everyone. This is annually audited as part of our independent (ISO9001) review, which includes identifying and addressing training needs. Edge Health offers flexible working to ensure members of our team can share childcare responsibilities equitably.
