- How the planning service works
- Arke Ltd provides bespoke planning and business support analysis to enable stakeholders to understand the costs, benefits and achievability issues associated with a cloud based transition. For example, alternative cloud based options can be compared and assessed and critical path analysis can be undertaken in order to inform decision makers as to the optimal solutions for their specific needs in order to aid planning. Arke specialises in novel and innovative technology, such as cloud based hardware and software, and has experience in designing bespoke analysis across Government. Artefacts such as benefit maps, risk registers, Cost-Benefit plots, statistical models, realisation plans, and cost profiles can be generated by Arke to support in support of business cases, as required. All Arke staff (all SC cleared) hail from Science & Technology backgrounds including computer science, mathematics, physics, and engineering, enabling us to approach challenges with a clear, logical and structured mind-set.

Arke is helping the UK work towards Net Zero by the development and delivery of new methods to help our customers achieve their net zero targets. This includes helping the UK MoD understand how best to invest in NZ interventions at some of the sites, and the development of an embodied carbon estimating tool. Within Arke, through the implementation of our social value policy, and whilst working towards B-Corp certification, we have committed to creating more value for society than we take. Within this policy, the Environmental theme concerns the development and implementation of the Arke Carbon Reduction Plan.
As an ISO 14001 certified, medium sized enterprise, with ~50 employees conducting knowledge-based work, we have a comparatively small footprint. The primary drivers of our footprint include power and heating for our small office in Westbury and business travel. In FY22/23, Arke conducted an analysis of our carbon footprint, led by the Arke Social Value Lead, which estimated our total organisational footprint at 13.24tCO2e per annum. [We are currently in the process of calculating our FY23/24 emissions].
For FY23/24, any residual carbon footprint will be offset through a residual offset scheme, which will reduce our footprint to zero. We understand that offsetting is a shortcut to Net Zero, and we hence commit to reducing our reliance on offsetting to 50% by 2030. Our reliance on this mechanism is largely due to our dependence on our landlord’s use of fuel oil to heat our office space.
Interventions delivered to date include a Working from Home policy to reduce travel to work / customer premises and LED bulb replacement. Interventions currently in the pipeline include printing policies for office IT, energy efficient IT equipment, a Cycle to Work Scheme and a repeatable, in house, sustainability training package for all staff.Tackling economic inequality
Tackling economic inequality
In FY22/23 we created over £1.3M Social Value as measured using the National TOMs social value model. As an organisation that promotes equal gender opportunities and currently employs 45% females and whose management board is 1/3rd female, we contribute time and resources to Skirting for Science, which aims to encourage females into pursuing STEM careers.
Arke recognises the need to develop and grow new talent alongside more experienced staff members, so a significant proportion of our new recruits are through year in industry, interns and student placements from local schools and universities, in addition to recruiting and developing new graduates with a tailored development package.
It is Arke’s policy to support the operations of the UK Armed Forces and to enable employees who are, or who wish to become, Reservists to support their respective Armed Forces Unit without prejudice to their employment. We are Silver members of the Armed Forces Covenant and focus our recruitment on service leavers through the use of specific jobs portals such as the official Armed Forces resettlement provider CTP.Equal opportunity
Equal opportunity
Arke is a committed equal opportunities employer who recruit, retain, and motivate staff from all sections of society. Our HR practices comply with the Governments Good Work Plan and its 5 principles to care for the wellbeing of our employees, minimise staff turnover and improve productivity and delivery. With headquarters situated within Westbury, which is noted as a deprived income and employment LSOA, Arke actively supports and recruits locally. Within the local community, we conduct numerous activities yearly in support of schools including STEM classes, career guidance sessions and mock interviews. This engagement has encouraged school pupils to actively think and challenge their expectations of the working environment and consider their career path in more detail.Wellbeing
Wellbeing
Arke’s vision is to build a strong Arke community, promoting and supporting our employee’s wellbeing. Arke has made a Mental Health At Work commitment and we are actively working to ensure better mental health outcomes for our staff. A key part of our commitment is creating an environment that enables promoting and supporting the Mental Health of each other, illustrated by Arke’s provision of Mental Health Awareness training for all employees and the provision of five trained Mental Health First Aiders (including two thirds of the management board). Arke also provides all employees with a mentor to support everyone’s wellbeing, and professional growth.
Arke provides access to the 24 hour helpline Employee Assistance Programme through Health Assured. This helpline provides support to both the pressures of work and home life with access to 24/7 confidential support with therapists or advisors, webinars, nutritional advice, health checks and fitness advice. In addition, Arke undertake (minimum) quarterly dedicated personal wellbeing check-ins with all employees to ensure they are happy, well and supported.
Arke encourages an inclusive approach from all employees to get involved in the company growth. Arke provides quarterly company reviews to communicate current and future plans and take feedback. Arke provides an ad hoc anonymous feedback system that is available for any and all feedback. Arke also provides an annual satisfaction survey encompassing all aspects of professional life. Arke proactively review and address all feedback through dedicated internal function leads, the commissioning of internal tasks and multiple themed workshops. This ensures that everyone at Arke has a voice and the opportunity to contribute to the development of the company from a professional and personal perspective.
