- End-of-contract data extraction
- When a Chrome Enterprise Upgrade licence contract ends, user data is primarily stored within the associated Google Workspace or Cloud Identity account, not directly on the device. To extract data before the license expires or the service terminates, users and administrators can use several methods depending on whether they are exporting individual user data or organisational device data.
- End-of-contract process
- When a Chrome Enterprise Upgrade license expires, the management service for the affected devices is suspended, leading to a loss of control over device policies and security settings. While the physical devices will continue to function, they become ‘unmanaged,’ meaning administrators cannot apply new policies, enroll new devices, or use features like remote wiping.

- Description of service interface
- Managed via the cloud-native Google Admin Console, the service interface acts as a single pane of glass for all managed devices. Administrators centrally configure Zero Trust access, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and threat protections across devices. The console features a robust Security Insights dashboard for real-time monitoring of data exfiltration risks and malware events. It integrates seamlessly with major Identity Providers (e.g. Okta, Entra ID) to enforce context-aware policies. This intuitive web-based portal simplifies operations, enabling teams to secure the modern workspace efficiently.

- Getech delivers comprehensive insights into your Chrome Enterprise environment through regular product usage reviews. By harnessing Enterprise Upgrade capabilities, we employ reporting APIs to create a customised visual dashboard and review deck. These reports provide detailed analyses of Chrome device and browser usage trends across your organisation—tracking adoption of security features, policy compliance, and managed device activity. During scheduled review sessions, we use these metrics to benchmark performance, demonstrate return on investment (ROI), and pinpoint areas where additional training may be required to optimise the value and adoption of Chrome Enterprise Upgrade.

Availability and resilience
- Guaranteed availability
-
The Chrome Enterprise Upgrade (CEU) license is backed by Google’s underlying Service Level Agreement (SLA), which guarantees a Monthly Uptime Percentage of at least 99.9% for the management services provided via the Google Admin Console.
If the Service fails to meet this availability metric in any calendar month, customers are eligible for Service Credits calculated as a percentage of the monthly bill:
< 99.9% – ≥ 99.0% Availability: 3 days of service credit.
< 99.0% – ≥ 95.0% Availability: 7 days of service credit.
< 95.0% Availability: 15 days of service credit.
Availability is defined by the operational status of the web interface for the Covered Services (Google Admin Console) and is measured based on the server-side error rate. - Approach to resilience
- The service inherits GCP’s Tier-4 data centre capabilities, featuring redundant power, cooling, and networking across physically separated availability zones. This ensures that hardware failures in one zone do not impact overall service availability.
- Outage reporting
-
Service Outage Reporting
Chrome Enterprise Premium ensures transparent, multi-channel outage reporting through Google’s unified Service Health infrastructure.
Public Status Dashboard: Real-time visibility into service health is provided via the Google Workspace Status Dashboard. This public board tracks incidents, provides detailed descriptions, and offers estimated resolution times. It supports RSS feeds for automated integration into your own monitoring tools.
Proactive Admin Alerts: Administrators receive immediate notifications directly within the Google Admin Console via prominent banner alerts. Additionally, "System Defined Rules" can be configured to automatically trigger email notifications to your support team whenever a relevant service disruption is confirmed.
Support Escalation: For critical issues not yet public, your Service Authorised Partner (Getech) can escalate P1 tickets directly to Google Engineering to verify outages and expedite public reporting.
This multi-layered approach ensures your team is never blind to critical service disruptions, whether global or specific to your tenancy.

- Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels
- Management Interfaces (Admin Console): Access can be strictly controlled via Context-Aware Access policies, which can restrict administrator login based on IP address, geographic location, and device health (e.g., encrypted company devices only). Additionally, Google enforces mandatory 2-Step Verification (MFA) and role-based privileges to ensure only authorised personnel can make changes. Support Channels: Direct access to Google support is restricted to designated "Support Administrators." Identity is verified via a dynamic Support PIN generated within the Admin Console, which expires every 60 minutes to prevent unauthorised use.

- Google Enterprise operates under a security-first model that goes beyond standard enterprise compliance to specifically safeguard users. 1. Compliance & Certifications Our platform is verified by independent third-party auditors against the most rigorous global standards, including: ISO/IEC 27001: Information Security Management. ISO/IEC 27017: Cloud Security Controls. ISO/IEC 27018: Protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in public clouds—critical for student privacy. SOC 2 & SOC 3: Service Organisation Controls for security, availability, and confidentiality. GDPR: Fully compliant via our Data Processing Amendment and Model Contract Clauses. 2. Operational Security Encryption: All data is encrypted by default, both in transit (using TLS) and at rest on our servers. Threat Defense: As an Enterprise user, you benefit from the Security Center, which uses AI to block 99.9% of spam/malware and allows IT teams to instantly remediate threats (e.g., deleting phishing emails) across the domain.

- Configuration and change management approach
- Google software products, including Google ChromeOS, operate under a rigorous Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Component Tracking: All service components are tracked from inception to deprecation. Code changes must pass Binary Authorisation—a cryptographic check ensuring only reviewed, tested, and authorised code can run in production. Security Assessment: Every change undergoes a mandatory Security Design Review and internal audit before launch. Customer Control: Administrators manage the local impact of these changes using Release Tracks (Rapid or Scheduled) and assess their specific domain security posture via the Security Center dashboard.
- Vulnerability management type
- Supplier-defined controls
- Vulnerability management approach
- Google employs a rigorous, automated vulnerability management lifecycle to secure ChromeOS. Threat Assessment: We utilise automated scanners (e.g., Security Health Analytics) alongside manual "Red Team" penetration testing to continuously identify risks across our infrastructure. Patch Deployment: As a cloud-native SaaS solution, security patches are deployed centrally and automatically without user intervention. Critical vulnerabilities are often remediated within hours of discovery, with routine updates released continuously. Threat Intelligence: Our intelligence is sourced from Google Project Zero (our elite zero-day research team), Mandiant frontline intelligence, and a global bug bounty program.
