- How the planning service works
-
Our service includes detailed planning for transitioning from legacy hosted and on-premise IT services to Cloud-based technologies by following a proven and structured approach to ensure service impact is minimised and all aspects of running applications in the cloud are considered.
Our application-centric approach enables us to work with your IT support & delivery and application teams to:
• Capture in detail the current application and infrastructure landscape with dependencies establishing a platinum source of IT configuration management data. This is key to reduce risk of service impact during migration.
• Identify the optimal migration approaches per application and supporting test strategies.
• Calculate the risk profile for each application.
• Identify remediation activities required prior to migration.
• Create a migration plan that is interwoven with existing planned business change activities and all identified resource requirements (people and financial).
• Define the affinity grouping for migration waves taking into consideration application risk profiles.
• Identify changes required to processes and procedures within current IT Operating model.
• Select and engage the optimal suppliers.
Throughout planning we ensure that all activities are aligned to the defined strategy and optimised to achieve the benefits defined in the business case. - Planning service works with specific services

- How the setup or migration service works
-
Following detailed planning, we orchestrate all dependent parties and workstreams, providing direction and control to ensure risks, issues and dependencies are closely managed thus ensuring migration activities can take place as scheduled and without impact to service. We achieve this by:
• Establishing a governance and assurance framework to ensure all remediation activities are completed and that testing is aligned to defined test strategy and acceptance criteria.
• Working closely with change management teams to ensure that impact to the schedule is not adversely impacted by other BAU activities and any re-planning of migration waves can be accommodated within the change schedule.
• Ensure all supporting operating model changes are on track to support changes to technology architecture and use of new suppliers.
Following the migration we ensure:
• Remaining assets are decommissioned
• Legacy hosting requirements are concluded
• Legacy contracts are terminated
• CMDB is updated and cleansed. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

Fighting climate change
Moving to cloud can help fight climate change through moving to more sustainable facilities. The process of moving to cloud can also identify opportunities to streamline technology needs and reduce the overall hardware requirements, also positively impacting sustainabilityCovid-19 recovery
Moving to cloud often enables improved ways of working for employees or improved contact points for customers, both of which are in support of different working styles and improved mental and physical healthTackling economic inequality
Moving to cloud can create new requirements for the organisation based on a shift in the IT operating model, leading to opportunities for skills change and possible new roles. It also supports development of new services and capabilities from cloud providers which can lead to new jobs and skillsEqual opportunity
In support of our equal opportunities policy all of our projects make use of our diverse community of employees. We always look for opportunities to engage with our customers around multiple topics, including where we can share learning and good practice in areas such as equality and equal opportunitiesWellbeing
Moving to cloud can enable improved ways of working for employees, supporting different working styles which help with both physical and mental health. In addition, the ability of cloud to enable remote working helps to build more diverse project and organisational communities through equal access to services and communications
