- How the quality assurance and performance testing works
- We ensure quality through an integrated approach involving all team members, including Product Owners, Strategists, Designers, Developers, and Testers. Quality is maintained with high standards and attention to detail at each stage of delivery, utilizing various tools and techniques. Throughout our iterative development process, we apply diverse testing methods covering behavioural, functional, exploratory, regression, performance, security, usability, and accessibility. Both manual and automated testing are employed, with test automation being a shared capability across all engineering disciplines. This enables us to incorporate automated tests at appropriate levels (unit, integration, snapshot, API, UI, performance, and end to end) during software development. Our cloud-based solutions are designed for high observability, incorporating automated logging, reporting, and alerting based on defined KPIs. This approach ensures continuous monitoring and improvement of our systems.

Fighting climate change
Supercharge has pledged to become climate neutral and to stay that way forever. This means three things:
- We measure our CO2 equivalent emissions
- We create and commit to a reduction plan
- We offset what we can’t reduce
We offset our emissions using nature based solutions. Additionally, we planted around 20000 trees in Hungary (together with Siili group) to help local reforestation efforts and to capture carbon directly.
We have a strong positive bias towards working on projects that aim to tackle some of our most pressing challenges and have a positive contribution to the UN SDG Goals. At the same time, we refrain from working on projects that directly contribute to societal or environmental harm therefore regressing the above mentioned goals. Some examples of these are:
- Fossil fuel extraction
- Gambling
- Intrusive surveillance
Once we take on a project we strive to harmonize the product goals with sustainability initiatives. Our standard Digital Product Discovery Process includes the alignment of product goals with the UN SDGs in order to identify opportunities for positive impact. This may include
- Developing the business model
- Creating features or altering existing ones
- Optimising operation & impact
As a business we strive to decrease the negative impacts from our operation to zero. As a design & engineering consultancy our business activity mostly revolves around using computers and brain-power to create value for customers - so it’s a fairly low impact activity from the environmental point of view. However, there are areas of our business that have significant footprint so we set strong policies for them. These are:
- Business travel
- Procurement & Disposal
- Office operations
On top of that we have been tracking and offsetting our (for now) irreducible emissions with the help of Climate Neutral.Covid-19 recovery
Supercharge has supported Covid-19 recovery in a number of ways, including maintaining its workforce throughout the pandemic and growing our UK headcount. A number of applications we built had particular relevance during and after the pandemic, including remote learning tools, healthcare applications and even auto-insurance services to promote road safety by encouraging fewer non-essential journeys.
Creating positive and supportive working conditions, including good mental health and wellbeing, has always been a priority for us. During the pandemic, we made sure to support our clients and their teams by implementing flexible working arrangements and following social distancing rules. We also used collaborative tools to reduce physical contact when needed. Additionally, we supported the physical and mental wellbeing of our own staff by providing equipment to facilitate working from home or remotely.
During the pandemic, our company experienced significant growth, with a 20% increase in net growth. While some organisations implemented staff furloughs, we were fortunate to expand our workforce. As part of our response to the pandemic, our policies underwent substantial revisions. We revamped our entire home office policy, along with related guidelines such as VPN usage, designated software, online meeting protocols, and mental health support initiatives.
Additionally, as a company accustomed to working with clients globally, we already had a robust suite of apps and tools in place. However, to enhance collaboration, we introduced new tools specifically tailored for our design team. This proactive approach ensured that we could adapt swiftly to the challenges posed by the pandemic while continuing to support our employees and clients effectively.Tackling economic inequality
For every project and programme, we look at how best to add value to the communities which we are serving. This can mean basing our teams in geographic regions which will be engaged with. Our approach in this regard supports the government’s Levelling Up agenda, as we will always choose the most appropriate location for our teams rather than defaulting to traditional options.
We apply similar principles and standards across our supply chain, ensuring agreements are in place to align subcontractors to our working standards and values. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are fully committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking both in our operations and in our supply chains.
We encourage diversity in our supply chains, often favouring working with new start-ups and SMEs to encourage and broaden the technology marketplace.
We are committed to nurturing talent and giving back to the community. Through our apprenticeship scheme, we have established partnerships with various universities and student associations, providing opportunities for aspiring professionals to gain valuable hands-on experience and kickstart their careers.
We actively engage in volunteering initiatives to support social causes. Our offices participate in corporate social responsibility (CSR) events annually. For instance, our Netherlands office contributes to community cooking activities for the homeless, while our headquarters organises donation events during Christmas, supporting different charities. We also extend our support to animal shelters, reflecting our commitment to making a positive impact beyond the workplace.
We believe in repurposing resources for a greater good. We donate electronic devices that are no longer in use to schools in underprivileged areas, enhancing access to education and technology for students in need.
We remain dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion through various initiatives and continuous evaluation of our practices.Equal opportunity
Supercharge is deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion (ED&I) across our organisation, recognizing the immense value it brings to our culture and success. Spearheading this initiative is our People Operations department, led by our Head of People. We firmly believe that a diverse workforce enhances innovation, creativity, and problem-solving, reflecting the global nature of our business.
Our commitment to ED&I is evident from the outset, beginning with our recruitment process. We ensure that everyone involved in hiring undergoes unconscious bias training and is well-versed in our comprehensive ED&I policy. This ensures that our hiring practices are fair, unbiased, and focused on attracting talent from diverse backgrounds.
Our organisational statistics reflect our dedication to diversity. While our overall gender split stands at 35-65%, with 23% of our leaders being women, we continuously monitor and strive for improvement in other areas such as ethnicity, socio-economic background, sexual orientation, caring responsibilities, and disability representation. By regularly assessing our workforce demographics, we can identify areas for improvement and implement targeted strategies to promote inclusivity and diversity.
In addition to our internal efforts, we actively engage with external initiatives and groups to further promote diversity and inclusion. We participate in programs like the Tech Talent Charter, Women in Tech, Black Girl Tech, and others. Furthermore, we host events aimed at inspiring young girls to pursue careers in STEM fields, demonstrating our commitment to fostering diversity from an early age.
At Supercharge, our Diversity and Inclusion Policy serves as the foundation of our commitment to creating an inclusive culture. We believe in providing equal opportunities for all employees and applicants, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or cultural background. Through ongoing assessment, training, and a global perspective, we're dedicated to fostering an environment where diversity thrives, driving innovation and success across our organisation.Wellbeing
At Supercharge, we prioritise our employees' well-being and professional development, offering a range of unique benefits and support services tailored to their individual needs. To foster a culture of continuous learning and growth, our teams have access to learning budgets that empower them to invest in their personal and professional development. Whether it's enhancing their home office setup or attending sponsored conferences and training sessions, our employees have the resources they need to thrive.
In addition to learning opportunities, we place a strong emphasis on mental health and well-being. Our comprehensive mental health support includes access to counselling services and up to 10 coaching sessions to help employees maintain their well-being. We provide extra sick leave, fully covered, for both physical and mental health concerns, ensuring that our employees feel supported during challenging times. Furthermore, after five years of dedicated service, employees earn a fully paid one-month sabbatical to recharge and rejuvenate.
To monitor the uptake of well-being benefits and ensure that our employees' needs are met, we conduct regular sentiment surveys that cover various aspects of well-being. These surveys provide valuable insights into our team's overall engagement and satisfaction, allowing us to make informed decisions and adjustments as needed.
Feedback is integral to our culture of continuous improvement and professionalism. Through feedback talks, daily performance reviews, and quarterly surveys, we gather feedback from both employees and managers to identify areas for growth and development. This feedback-driven approach helps us address performance issues, nurture a supportive work environment, and empower our employees to constantly develop themselves.
Our commitment to supporting our employees' well-being and professional growth underscores our dedication to creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Through ongoing learning, support, and feedback, we empower our employees to thrive both personally and professionally, driving success and innovation across our organisation.
