Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
The imperative to move into the Cloud is clear: it offers enterprises the opportunity to move on from the traditional development and deployment lifecycle and financial model that underpins their consumption of IT. The proliferation of end-user devices brings a ubiquity of connection for many businesses – website or app access for customers, local or mobile access to back-office systems for employees. The availability of SaaS and mobile apps has created an environment where applications can be anywhere, inside or outside your organisation.
The challenge for businesses is enabling and taking advantage of modern working styles to maximise company and employee performance while delivering a coherent and integrated application landscape designed for growth and serviceability while maintaining control of your data. Using our real-world experience, we will collaborate with you to plan, design, and implement the optimum cloud solution for your needs.

How the setup or migration service works
Customers’ growing needs in an always-on, access anywhere / anytime world put a strain on IT systems that were never designed for these demands. Adopting DevOps principles – improving environment management, managing infrastructure as code, and migrating to the Cloud allows customers to adapt – to dynamically build, maintain, and change your IT landscape. Orchestrating the entire build and run process – the creation and destruction of VMs, installing, patching, and upgrading of OS, and the installation and (re-)configuration of middleware and applications. We understand how to plan, design, and build a cloud infrastructure platform that will support your organisation's virtualisation, cloud, big data, and mobility vision. We can deliver Maturity / Capability Assessment, Strategy and Roadmap to DevOps, release and configuration process improvement, automation techniques and scripting across the entire Digital Transformation lifecycle. We can also advise on the assessment, sourcing, and procurement of cloud technologies to deliver capability.

How the quality assurance and performance testing works
Exception’s Cloud Testing and Quality Assurance services provide independent testing across a range of Cloud software and infrastructure to ensure comprehensive test coverage and drive improved product quality. Our services include Quality Assurance, Test Management, Test Delivery, Test Environment and Data Management, and Test Consultancy.
Founded on years of experience working with our customers and based on reliable, repeatable methods, our services are designed to help customers successfully deliver critical cloud solutions. We leverage Exception’s Deliver Quality framework to apply a consistent, proven approach to Quality Assurance and Testing, with key deliverables at each stage.
Our Quality Assurance framework and Cloud IT Assurance Service have been developed to provide our customers with an independent review of all aspects of their cloud technology.
Our Cloud Assurance Service can be integrated into the programme lifecycle (which we recommend) or alternatively can be initiated as a stand-alone engagement. Depending on the agreed assurance scope and your individual requirements, this flexible service will provide outputs which include a comprehensive assurance report. This report contains a set of formal findings and recommendations on how issues or risks identified can be remediated, together with options for resolution.

Fighting climate change

Exception fully embraces the goals of the Social Value Act and is dedicated to economic fairness, environmental responsibility, inclusivity, and stakeholder wellbeing. Our strategy is shaped around the five core Social Value themes, and our commitment to delivery and effectiveness transparency is upheld through independent assessments and verification. We pride ourselves on this significant ethical stance.
Specifically our key initiatives on Climate Action include: Our strategy targets net-zero emissions, incorporating sustainable facilities, renewable energy, waste reduction, and supply chain enhancements. Progress is tracked bi-annually at Board of Directors’ level, and independently assessed by EcoVadis every year. In the latest assessment cycle, EcoVadis awarded us a silver accreditation and placed us in the top 25% of companies.

Tackling economic inequality

Our strategy is shaped around the five core Social Value themes, and our commitment to delivery and effectiveness transparency is upheld through independent assessments and verification. We pride ourselves on this significant ethical stance.
Specifically our key initiatives on Economic Equality include: We procure 60% of our operational supplies from SME organisations. We will grow this to 70% by 2027. As an SME ourselves, we guarantee prompt payments, currently within a 14-day window. This significantly exceeds the UK Government's best payment practice of 30 to 60 days. We are signatories to the Prompt Payment Code, and our compliance is monitored by the Office of the Small Business Commissioner.

Specifically our key initiatives on Equal Opportunity include: We exceed standard equal opportunity practices. As a Disability Confident organisation, we offer proactive support, accessible facilities, and tailored accommodations. We value neurodiverse talent, encouraging disclosure for inclusive environments, and support ex-service members through our Armed Forces Covenant commitments. In all cases, we prioritise, and in some cases fast-track, our recruitment processes for individuals in these communities. Additionally, while as an SME, we are not legally mandated to produce a modern slavery statement, we adhere to best practice by producing one and robustly review it every year, ensuring complete compliance throughout our supply chain.
