Scaling
- Independence of resources
- ShareFile ensures that customer performance is not impacted by other tenants through a combination of architectural isolation and capacity controls. Customers may deploy customer-managed StorageZones, providing full control and physical separation from other workloads. For ShareFile-managed zones, logical isolation and multi-tenant safeguards ensure predictable service levels. Horizontal scaling—such as adding StorageZone Controllers—enables throughput expansion for high-volume operations. Network best practices, including endpoint whitelisting, prevent external throttling. These measures, supported by documented security architecture and SLA commitments, ensure consistent performance regardless of demand from other users.

- Approach to resilience
- ShareFile hosts separate management planes in the United States (for sharefile.com tenants) and the EuropeanUnion (for sharefile.eu tenants) to provide the ShareFile services. Both management planes are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using resiliency within the AWS region by using multiple locations to host the services. For each management plane, replication to a secondary region has been implemented, allowing to fail over to this region when the primary region becomes completely unavailable. This secondary region is also located in the United States (for sharefile.com tenants) and the European Union (for sharefile.eu tenants).
- Outage reporting
- ShareFile provides transparent, real-time outage reporting through its dedicated Status Page, powered by Atlassian Statuspage. This platform displays current service health, incident details, and historical performance data. Customers can subscribe to proactive notifications via email, SMS, or RSS feed to receive immediate alerts on new incidents, updates, and resolutions. Each incident update includes a clear description, affected components, current status (e.g., investigating, monitoring, resolved), and estimated next update time. Communication follows industry best practices for timeliness and clarity, ensuring customers remain informed throughout the incident lifecycle. Additionally, ShareFile’s SLA framework defines response and resolution targets, supported by structured escalation workflows and audit trails for compliance. These measures guarantee that customers receive accurate, consistent, and timely information during any service disruption, reinforcing ShareFile’s commitment to reliability and transparency.
