Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
We would start with a discovery phase where our focus would be to understand the client’s requirements, what they want to achieve, what they intend to use it for and their strategic intent for the solution.

We would want to understand of all aspects of the requirement, from: Compute, Storage, and Network – depending on the cloud service to be used. Further questions about what the cloud solution will be used for (ie. Machine learning), what the cloud solution will be interfacing with, and whether it was an internal / external solution will allow a more considered implementation plan to be developed.

We would then offer guidance around different solutions, designing the architecture, security and accreditation requirements around the chosen solution. We would draft a proposal for the Delivery phase with comprehensive design around budget, timeframes, project goals, development priorities, size, scale and capability of the project team. A PM would then manage the delivery and establish reporting rhythm with the client to ensure proper communication of risks, resourcing, dependencies and project progress were tracking and on time. We would also offer guidance around maintenance throughout the lifecycle and how to develop the solution when it needs to scale.

Training

Training service provided
Yes
How the training service works
We offer both bespoke and off-the-shelf training, specific to customer requirements. Our specialism is in offering recruit, train, and deploy solutions that focus on service leavers, re-skilling, return to work, and skills transition from similar industries.

With critical skills shortages across UK Cloud infrastructure exacerbated by a shortage of appropriate security-cleared resources who can operate in mission-critical environments, our skill is in identifying appropriate resources who can achieve the required clearance and training them in the skills that you need.

Setup and migration

Setup or migration service available
Yes
How the setup or migration service works
Migration is about understanding the client’s current situation, what the current solution was built for and why it needs to be changed now. It is key to help the client understand whether they want to shift the problem elsewhere or address the problem to save money and effort in the future.

We will educate the client around the likely issues that will occur moving from a hardware solution to a cloud-based solution to ensure proper consideration has gone in the decision to migrate, such as connection, IDAM, auditing (because now all your data is off site), data security and security policies (as now a third party hold all your data). We would also advise on cost as the rent of a cloud solution will always be more expensive. A mindset shift from the client is also required as many operational practices and procedures will have to change as a result of the migration.

The migration path is less about what do you need, it’s more about what do you have, what your current solution cannot do and what do you want the cloud solution to deliver.

Quality assurance and performance testing

Quality assurance and performance testing service
Yes
How the quality assurance and performance testing works
Our Team of Test specialists enables Sanderson to provide and develop a bespoke Test Service incorporating all Test requirements with solutions offering a unique fit. Sanderson offer a strategic alignment to any Testing challenges within your team/department structure. They’ll provide a bespoke solution, collaborating with wider Government departments, ensuring requirements are shared across multiple platforms; covering all facets of Data&Digital Testing; Automation, Quality assurance, Performance, Manual and regression Testing.

It starts with understanding the client and their requirement, in both immediate and long term, well enough to develop a solution. We’d advise and guide the client to test frequently and slowly, with checkpoints and milestones to guide progress.

Testing activity should be focused and conducted slowly, ensuring it is done to a high standard before progressing, keeping control of speed, cost, security and developing a better solution. We’d seek to test the system at 100% and 150% capacity to demonstrate it’s fit for purpose, scalable and will meet the future demands on the system. With metrics upfront, we design the performance testing service to meet current expectations, with an ability to scale.

With ongoing support, we’d analyse and develop the system to ensure it remains operational as it’s scaled up.

Fighting climate change

As part of the wider Sanderson Solutions group, we take our corporate responsibility as a global business to fight climate change of paramount importance. We are committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050. To ensure we meet this target we have invested in a global programme to monitor and reduce our carbon footprint. Since 2019, we have partnered with Green Element to establish our current global footprint and review the impactful actions we can take.
Our first milestone in our carbon pledge was to have our targets certified and join the community of business’s taking part in the Science Based Targets Initiative which we achieved in June 2022. We are one of the first recruitment businesses in the UK to join the SBTi, leading the way in environmentally conscious companies.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next ten years with a reduction of 42%, and In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:
• Employee Commuting - Encouraging alternative transport forms
• Business Travel - Introducing a travel policy, avoiding travelling where possible, using alternative transport forms & choosing airlines with lower emissions
• Electricity Usage - Switching to 100% renewables and encouraging energy efficiency at all Sanderson offices
• Food and Drink - Purchasing sustainable and plant-based food.

We have combined our reduction strategy with proactive support for reforestation through our partnership agreement with Ecologi (ecologi.com) in which we commit to plant a tree for every hire that we make for our clients. As a result of our performance since January 2022, Sanderson have funded and planted over 17,000 trees.

Tackling economic inequality

Through the framework, we will:

Create employment opportunities for underrepresented groups, this includes partnering with businesses, initiatives and promoting of jobs

Create employment and training opportunities for people in industries with known skills shortages or in high-growth sectors. We actively support initiatives aimed at increasing diversity in the workforce, such as promoting equal opportunities for all candidates regardless of their background, ethnicity, gender, or disability status.

We are dedicated to creating local job opportunities. We actively collaborate with community organisations, local employment agencies, and government initiatives to identify and recruit skilled professionals within the vicinity of our operations.

Support Educational attainment, including training schemes that address skills gaps and result in recognised qualifications. We actively engage with Member Institutions to enhance their employability skills and opportunities for their students. This includes participating in workshops aimed at supporting students, providing insights into industry trends, and offering guidance on CV writing, interview preparation, and career planning.

Our extensive network of industry experts allows us to arrange engaging and informative lectures by professionals in relevant fields. We currently partner with University of West of England to deliver:
• Lectures on employer branding and strategic resourcing for HR students
• Employability skills lectures across the business school

Influence staff, suppliers, customers and communities through the delivery of the contract to support employment and skills opportunities in high-growth sectors.

We place a strong emphasis on supporting local businesses. We actively seek partnerships with local suppliers, fostering a collaborative ecosystem that stimulates economic growth within the community.

Equal opportunity

We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all individuals, particularly those from underrepresented groups. Our recruitment practices are guided by ED&I principles, and we actively seek to attract and engage candidates from diverse backgrounds. We review our practices to promote inclusivity, and our staff undergo continuous training to remain fully informed and up to date about EDI issues, ensuring that they can effectively support candidates and employees alike.
