Fighting climate change
"PwC’s commitment to having a positive impact on society is an enduring one. We believe we have a responsibility to our communities, both those we work in and beyond, to help fight climate change.
We are determined to become a low carbon and circular business. Our two London offices have achieved the ‘Outstanding’ rating under BREEAM, the world’s foremost environmental rating system for buildings. We have made a worldwide, science-based commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, by decarbonising our operations and supply chain; embedding ESG-related factors across our work; championing non-financial reporting practices, and collaborating with businesses, policymakers and NGOs to accelerate the transition to net zero.
For this service, we will:
Reduce our business travel carbon emissions by 33% per FTE against our baseline. We continue to promote collaborative technologies and allow people to work together without needing to travel.
Ensure 80% of our key suppliers have carbon emission reduction targets. Our commitment to decarbonising our operations and supply chain includes reshaping how we serve clients, reductions in travel and increasing the use of zero carbon energy
Reduce our paper consumption by 80% from our baseline, and reuse/recycle 80% of our total waste. We’ve maintained our achievement of zero waste to landfill for all the food waste generated in our offices since 2012.
Encourage project teams to monitor their individual carbon footprints by using ‘’Count Us In’. Individuals can pledge to reduce their personal carbon footprint by 100kg CO2 per year, and we support them with such initiatives as plastic free July, cycle to work schemes and sustainable food drives.
Promote environmental volunteering opportunities with our many partner charities such as the Marine Conservation society, Trees for Cities, The Conservation Volunteers and Groundwork UK. Employees can also volunteer with environmental charities of their choice.
