Fighting climate change

In line with the PPN 0621 on carbon reduction plans, we use a consultancy (https://www.greenelement.co.uk/) to advise us. As detailed on our website, we take our corporate responsibility as a global business to fight climate change of paramount importance. We are committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050. To ensure we meet this target we have begun investing in a global programme to monitor and reduce our carbon footprint. The first stage in this programme began in 2021, with the first key milestone being for us to have our targets set with Science Based Targets by July 2022 https://sciencebasedtargets.org/.

As an office-based organisation, we heavily rely on communication to carry out our work. Our major policy is centred around the use of digital instead of paper. We actively promote digital communications and have a “think, don’t print” ethos. We will send all documentation and contracts to the client and our candidates via email and DocuSign, so as to promote sustainability and safeguard the environment. As a result of our digital focus, we have continued to target the reduction in the use of paper in all of our offices and continue to deliver 20% year on year reductions. When meeting with the client, we will use a combination of Microsoft Teams and in person meetings, taking public transport to travel to your sites.
We recycle our food waste, packaging and printer cartridges. Our electrical appliances are placed on power save mode with all office lighting motion sensored.

Tackling economic inequality

With respect to tackling economic inequality we can exhibit, but are not limited to, the following measures that are currently in place:

Creation of employment opportunities - We are currently working with an Academy Trust who specialize in delivering education in deprived areas and the MPTC (The Military Preparation Training College) who deliver education to those children who have fallen out of the education system and wish to pursue a career in the military.

We complete an enterprise workshop to increase aspirations and introduce employability skills for their pupils across the UK. We conduct CV writing workshops for those in their final years. We conduct peer mentoring for the children that face barriers to employment and educate/coach on skills as they don’t have access to these at home. Our focus is on making them aware of UK skills shortages so they can plan their future based on data led knowledge. More recently we have conducted some Dragons Den style team exercises focused on developing ideas around STEM subjects.

Understanding of employment skills and issues – we utilise several AI based analytics tools (e.g Horsefly Analytics) to enable us to map out where skills gaps exist in the UK across professions. This enables active targeting of skills rich areas, and skills development in areas where skills are absent, reskilling and providing training where needed.

Implementation of good recruitment practices and employment conditions –we adopt all the principles of the Good Work Plan for our own employees, with particular focus on lower earners, ensuring that all staff are paid above the minimum wage, and support is given to ensure that their ability to progress is clearly outlined and they are well supported in training, personal and employment wellbeing development.

Equal opportunity

We have made a significant commitment internally to ensure that all our staff, our practices, colleague behaviour and our culture are operating to a higher standard of fairness, awareness, equity and equality across all groups. This is through the hiring of an ED&I consultant who is working with us to implement organisation wide improvements, and through the roll out of monthly training on a wide range of ED&I topics which is mandatory for all staff, and is focused on ensuring all staff can work together without discrimination, and also represent our customers recruitment processes with no discrimination and a level of awareness and safety to be able to identify and call out bad practice.

When we are attracting people with protected characteristics, we ensure that the materials and processes are in accordance with all accessibility criteria that the Government dictates. Including Auto analysis of Job adverts to ensure gender neutrality and build and host microsites/careers sites that are WCAG1.2AA compliant.

We are wholly committed to a fully inclusive and diverse workplace. We are a diverse organisation including neurodiverse, gender, disabled. We are a disability confident employer and have a specific EDI advisor to the business who not only trains our staff but advises on diversity strategies. Additionally, our senior leadership team has representation on the techUK Skills and Diversity council, allowing us to demonstrate our ability and credentials accessing diversity. We have Partnerships with The Return Hub, Remploy, Code First Girls, Seidea and Colorintech.

Wellbeing

Pigment Consulting believes in investing in our people and being proactive in the monitoring and management of their physical and mental wellbeing. Across our programmes we are proud to have wellbeing champions representing all clients, across all Programmes.
At Pigment Consulting our approach to workforce development is all about ensuring individuals thrive in the new post-Covid landscape.
With more people working remotely post-Covid the feeling of inclusion is ever more important. We've honed a strategy that's agile and robust, ready to adapt to evolving needs now and in the future, so not just reacting to change; we're proactively shaping it to each individual’s advantage.
Our team ensures a smooth onboarding process by serving as primary points of contact, from confirming initial details for the first day to ensuring each associate has the necessary equipment ready and operational for a successful embedding into their project.
Our relationship managers are there every step of the way, providing personalised support and guidance to every associate. After landing each resource we have a dedicated Relationship Manager providing support and guidance throughout their delivery of projects.
