- How the planning service works
-
A core part of our service is establishing the operating model for your organisation, creating the associated standards and then implementing it.
The approach we take will be data-driven, incremental and tailored – i.e. focused on understanding where each team is at and then helping them to improve their performance in a continuous improvement mode. We establish clear and consistent metrics (e.g. DORA metrics) and use proven product management and engineering standards and assessment frameworks to ensure the most optimal operating model. - Planning service works with specific services

- How the quality assurance and performance testing works
-
We take a data-driven, standards-based approach to measuring team performance. In engineering, this is typically based upon an engineering maturity assessment against the target engineering standards, as well as understanding performance against industry standard metrics (e.g. DORA metrics). These are then turned into ‘scorecards’ that are visible to engineering teams and teams are supported in determining the right mechanisms to improve performance.
Engineering maturity assessment and DORA metrics scores are then used as the baseline for measuring performance improvements over time, with scores reviewed at regular intervals.

Fighting climate change
We are committed to minimising our carbon footprint, evidenced by our intention shown in our Carbon Reduction Plan to become carbon negative by offsetting more emissions than we create by 2030. This plan includes promoting a cycle to work scheme, having a fully electric vehicle fleet, moving to hybrid working with staff working from home so not to create emissions by commuting to our offices.
We have a strategy to reduce our overall office energy consumption from fossil fuels and non-renewable sources by 15% by 2025. To achieve this, we have outsourced our IT infrastructure to a local provider for cloud hosting and source all energy requirements for our office from renewable sources.
We also hold a strategy to reduce resource consumption wherever possible. We will measure our success here by achieving a paper-free office by 2023. This will be further augmented by measuring water usage, waste levels, and recycling levels.
We also work with our specialist carbon offsetting partners, such as the Future Forest Company, to achieve this goal and become a Climate Positive Business. Our commitment is to exceed the carbon reduction goals of the Government.Covid-19 recovery
As a fast-growing organisation, Axiologik are actively creating employment within our target employment areas of Leeds and London. Within the last 2 years, we have recruited over 50 personnel, helping to drive employment within these areas and stimulate the demand for people to learn new skills.
We are also passionate advocates for sustainability in technology, promoting equality of access and local community investment. In that regard, we are engaged with organisations who are transforming education to employment systems and supporting disadvantaged groups. These organisations prepare, place, and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible due to socio economic factors that may limit their ability to access conventional education pathways. The methods developed serve people who are unemployed, underemployed, or need to learn new skills, many of which will not have the digital skills in demand following COVID-19 and are therefore displaced. One of these organisations is Leeds Community Foundation, in which we are a partner.
Few technology organisations have played a role as significant as Axiologik in the UK’s fight against COVID-19.For NHS Digital, Axiologik led the establishment of the digital services for the national COVID Testing service and the national COVID vaccination service and are now leading the transformation of the tracing and outbreak management services for the UK Health Security Agency. Sarah Wilkinson, ex-CEO of NHS Digital said of Axiologik’s role:
“We work with a large number of third parties who bring a rich set of skills and expertise to our work, but among them it is rare to find organisations able to take on very senior leadership of programs of the scale and complexity of those we have entrusted to Axiologik. They are highly competent and absolutely reliable. Our ability to respond to the pandemic would have been greatly diminished without their support”Tackling economic inequality
Axiologik is committed to continuously investing in growing our workforce including an opportunity for those transitioning to the IT sector based on a belief in hiring on mindset and culture rather than currently held skills. Recently, for example, we have engaged personnel transitioning from roles within the Armed Forces.
We are committed to working with small, diverse, high-quality suppliers. We are a signatory to the Prompt Payment Code, committed to paying suppliers on time, giving clear guidance to suppliers, and encouraging good payment practice. Our records show suppliers are paid on average 30 days following receipt of invoice.
We are also engaged with organisations that are working to transform education to employment systems. These organisations prepare, place, and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible due to socio economic factors that may limit their ability to access conventional education pathways. The methods developed serve people who are unemployed, underemployed, or need to learn new skills and the programs creates real business value for employers and lasting career impact for participants.
Axiologik is passionate about supporting local charities that deliver to the most disadvantaged members of our community. We have partnered with and fund Leeds Community Foundation, who work alongside Community Organisations to address digital inclusion, inequalities and create opportunities that drive meaningful social impact for thousands of local people every year. We have also committed to supporting Simon on the Streets who are an independent charity in West Yorkshire helping the homeless and vulnerable.Equal opportunity
Diversity and inclusion is one of Axiologik’s key values. We are committed to our making our workforce fully representative of our environment and believe different lived experiences are critical to creating digital services that are truly accessible to all and a workplace that reflects our society.
Our action to increase the representation of disabled people in the workforce by encouraging an open culture where people share experiences to encourage diversity and inclusion. Provide diversity and inclusion training to all employees. Provide a mentoring programme to pair disabled employees with a senior leader for mentoring, advocacy, and sponsorship. All employees can request and attend training depending on business need, their role and developmental needs. We ensure all employees are included in training opportunities relevant to their role and development and able to attend training.
Our action to identify and tackle inequality in employment, skills and pay by ensuring onboarding process is inclusive and monitoring diversity at work by asking questions about age, sex race, ethnic origin and whether they suffer from any disabilities. This form is used to monitor how effective the equality and inclusions policy is. Adapting training to accommodate the needs of different workers. For example, consider training for employees who lack some skills but could otherwise be good employees.
Our action we take to identify and manage the risks of modern slavery is to ensure all employees and workers are legally able to work in the UK. Regularly review our wages to ensure we are paying minimum wage or more. Any casual workers are paid fairly and at least the minimum wage. Remove opportunities for exploitation of any self-employed or “gig – workers” who supply us with services. Work with any contractors who supply us to help ensure their workers and employees are treated fairly and not exploited.Wellbeing
All permanent employees and their families are given access to private medical care via Vitality. The Vitality health plan covers mental health treatments such as psychiatry and counselling, and full cover for talking therapies.
The online Vitality members zone includes a healthy living section with tips and advice on how to get healthier by moving more, eating better, reduce stress, manage weight and quitting smoking. You can also earn activity points, the more active you are the more points you earn and the more benefits and rewards you then have access to.
Permanent employees also benefit from a life insurance plan via Unum. Unum again offer access to medical advice and mental health support. Of particular value is the Employee Assistance Programme powered via LifeWorks that free advice and assistance on life, money and wellbeing issues. There is also access to lots of online resources and support.
The company runs various Slack channels bringing together permanent team members, contractors, and associates. This creates a sense of belonging to a wider team and a place to feel supported whether this be work related on a more personal level.
We have 6 qualified mental health first aiders to empower the workforce to identify and tackle mental health issues. Our intention to roll this out to all permanent team members to encourage people to reach out and provide all with an ability to support others.
We offer a cycle to work scheme and support keeping active with other activities such as a weekly running club.
We run an inclusive and open social calendar. This includes and mix of activities such as countryside walks, family open days and office town hall meetings which include employee recognition awards.
