Fighting climate change
As a small business, we have decided to release our carbon reduction plan with regular reviews. Our permanent shift to exclusive work-from-home arrangements has successfully eliminated out-of-scope 1 & 2 emissions. Furthermore, our proactive adoption of public transport has completely eradicated work-related private car emissions.
The Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
To achieve our plan, we undertake carbon-saving activities such as Working from home rather than commuting and maintaining a fully staffed office, using public transport rather than private, having a fully electric company fleet, using sustainable suppliers, and extensively using online meetings and events.Covid-19 recovery
At the onset of the pandemic, Catapult closed its office and transitioned to remote work for all employees. This adjustment enabled us to retain our existing staff and facilitated the expansion of our workforce as our business flourished amidst the pandemic. Throughout and following this period, we have remained committed to supporting our teams' physical and mental well-being through regular online and in-person training sessions, social activities, and health coaching services. Additionally, Catapult has provided digital equipment to employees specifically for their children's use, aiming to bridge the 'digital divide' for younger members of society both during and after the pandemic.
Catapult has highly flexible working conditions. We offer employment to people who do not require an office to work in, as we utilise the latest online technology that enables us to prefer and encourage home and remote working over working from an office.
Remote working allows us to hire those left unemployed by COVID-19 from anywhere in the country; it also enables us to employ people who need to socially distance or are highly vulnerable and for them to fully participate. We find that remote working democratises our company.
As a growing technology consultancy, we are in a high growth sector, so the employment we offer is of high value for our employees. We are leaders in the use of cutting edge online tools that enable us to work remotely much more effectively.
The flexible working practices and tooling are a vital support to those people who are suffering from the physical and mental health of people affected by the covid-19 pandemic, as well as providing great opportunities for knowledge sharing and cross-company training to happen.Tackling economic inequality
As a burgeoning small business, Catapult perfectly fits the profile for which economic inequality policies are intended to assist. Catapult boasts a diverse supply chain comprising an increasing number of micro-businesses with whom it collaborates and supports. Our micro-company supply chain provides specialist technical, security and engineering skills and is located all over the United Kingdom.
We also partner with large enterprises to achieve scale and geographic diversity. Widening our supply chain and hiring further staff allows us to bring in more skills and cross-populate these skills between our combined team, thereby providing future-proofed commercial growth while bringing vital services to the public sector.
Our exclusive use of innovative and disruptive technologies and tools enables us to effectively manage and collaborate within our supply chain, thereby promoting behaviours that align with those we advocate for our customers. By employing innovative processes to handle and address cybersecurity risks and obtaining certification in all major cybersecurity and infosec standards, we can demonstrate our unwavering commitment to security within the supply chain through third-party validation.
We regularly hire young or disadvantaged people and provide them with formal and on-the-job training so that we foster untapped innovation that might otherwise be lost.
One example of an integrated supply chain that brings benefits is cyber. During the initial months of the Ukraine invasion, cyber attacks increased on one of our public sector customers. We utilised various micro and small businesses combined with two large enterprises (AWS and OKTA) to achieve a response time of less than one hour and mitigate cyber-attacks. By doing this, we have influenced our public sector customers and our complete supply chain, providing both support resistance and capacity in a full end-to-end service wrap.Equal opportunity
Our organisation is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment. We prioritise gender representation, with 40% of our employees identifying as female and 30% of our interns being female. Additionally, we collaborate with STEM Women to enhance our recruitment pipeline.
Furthermore, 45% of our workforce identifies with Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic origins while 9% have disclosed that they have a disability. We provide full remote working arrangements, flexible working hours, and comprehensive ergonomic workstation assessments to support their well-being and work-life balance needs. As a result, 100% of our people work remotely, with flexible working hours and advanced ergonomic workstation assessments; this encourages people who cannot travel, leave their homes, or have home care obligations to work with us, and many do.
We also prioritise team motivation through training initiatives and awareness sessions while appointing a diversity ambassador to champion inclusivity within the organisation. We ensure equitable compensation for all employees by consistently offering wages above the 'Real Living Wage' set by the Living Wage Foundation – an organisation of which we are proud paid-up members who actively support its mission.Wellbeing
At Catapult, the well-being of our staff is a top priority. We are dedicated to ensuring that our employees maintain reasonable working hours, take full lunch breaks, rest after busy periods, avoid weekend work (especially from home), and utilize their full annual leave entitlement.
We provide flexible working options, including 100% remote work. Flexible arrangements have a positive impact on employee well-being and productivity by allowing adjustments to working hours, location, or work patterns. This benefits employers through improved morale, commitment, and productivity while reducing absenteeism. For employees, it facilitates better integration of personal lives with work commitments, promoting balance and supporting mental health.
We engage with our customers in adaptable ways and often operate in locations suitable for all parties using technologies that foster collaboration and inclusivity.
