Tensing provides FME training at various proficiency levels, including introductory and advanced courses. The training is offered in flexible formats, such as web-based live tutor-led courses, as well as in-person private and bespoke courses. The various courses offered cover FME Form, FME Flow and FME Flow Hosted focusing on data integration, building data ETL pipelines, creating translation models and automating and orchestrating processes.
The training aims to equip delegates with the skills to build efficient workspaces, manipulate data attributes, and apply best practices. The duration of the training is flexible, with options for two full days, four concurrent half-days or bespoke durations, suitable for online or in-person delivery.
Tensing offers FME training at any level. So whether a delegate is new to FME or a seasoned FME expert, we have a training course that supports personal and professional growth in data integration with the FME Platform.
Our trainers are all 'Certified FME Trainers' having delivered training each for more than 10 years. Courses are designed to be interactive, with data examples taken from real-world UK and European scenarios. You won’t catch our trainers delivering from a script; we want the flexibility to customise each course to the delegates that attend. - Training is tied to specific services

Tensing leverages the FME Platform to facilitate migrations from on-premise to hybrid and full cloud environments. The FME Platform can be deployed across diverse IT landscapes, offering a robust solution for transferring data across services.
At Tensing, we prioritise clarity in our solutions and processes. The no-code/low-code FME Platform democratises data migration workflows, making the solutions clearer and more accessible to a broader audience. This approach not only simplifies the migration process but also ensures that post-migration maintenance and further developments can be managed by clients’ in-house teams. To support this, Tensing offers comprehensive training, coaching and support packages to upskill key team members whilst maintaining our relationship as our client's trusted advisor.
Tensing has particular expertise with migration to the Esri Utility Network and has earned the Esri Utility Network Specialty recognition. A recognition of our proven expertise in the field of utilities, the new Utility Network data model, and the implementation of services using the ArcGIS Utility Network Management Extension.
Tensing partners with VertiGIS, with consultants able to leverage their deep knowledge of VertiGIS Studio to help customers understand where it fits in the Esri technology stack, support migrations and enhance business workflows. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

Quality Assurance - At Tensing, we specialise in assisting customers to ensure their geospatial data meets rigorous quality standards. Through systematic processes and a broad range of tools in the FME Platform we implement procedures to prevent errors and deficiencies in data outputs and alert data owners to potential problems. Our comprehensive approach involves assessment, planning, implementation and continuous improvement. By leveraging our expertise, clients can confidently rely on their geospatial data's accuracy, completeness, and reliability for informed data-driven decision-making.
Performance Testing - At Tensing, we recognise that data volumes rarely decrease. Therefore, our focus lies in understanding the data, its structure, flow and integration with core applications. Performance testing and optimisation are integral aspects of our service. In new projects, our approach starts with a thorough understanding of system and data components and their interactions. For existing solutions, we prioritise evaluating the performance of current workflows through benchmarking. We emphasise the importance of managing data volumes; adjusting structure and content to enhance performance. These techniques are central to our FME Advanced training, where we refine your Workspace design skills. Day to day we practice what we preach putting data quality and performance at the heart of our solutions.

-
Functionality of our services may be affected by IT environment, security and access controls.
FME Flow Hosted (formerly FME Cloud) runs on Amazon Web Services, therefore any constraints mirror those of AWS. FME Flow Hosted instances are Linux based, Windows-exclusive formats are unavailable e.g. MS Access, Esri Personal Geodatabase. Annual plans have a credit allocation that suits most scenarios for transactional data storage and data transfer. Exceptional requirements may incur additional costs. At least 1 license of FME Form (formerly FME Desktop) is required to author the data pipeline jobs, known as workspaces running on the FME Flow Hosted platform.

- Support levels
- Technical support at Tensing covers a range of issues including guidance on "how to" questions, FME transformer selection, and troubleshooting workspaces that are no longer functioning. The consultant assesses each support ticket and will inform the client in advance whether the issue can be addressed within the inclusive package or if it requires additional consultancy hours. Tensing is committed to ensuring a positive experience for customers using the FME Platform, aiming to assist them in achieving their data management goals. Technical support is designed to help customers effectively use the FME technology, whereas consultancy involves Tensing taking a more active role in executing tasks, which may entail additional costs. For issues that involve software or documentation updates on the FME Platform, Tensing logs these with Safe Software, the vendor, and tracks their resolution. While Tensing supports clients with potential workarounds, they are unable to independently resolve issues that require vendor intervention. For advanced support beyond technical support, Tensing offers advanced support/consultancy time that can be used for installing, configuring, or upgrading FME Flow, workspace authoring, optimising processes, integrating FME with tools like Esri, and configuring network settings. Additionally, it covers security advice, implementing new technologies, and providing best practice guidance.

Fighting climate change
As an organisation, we are dedicated to supporting environmental stewardship, concentrating on initiatives that are in line with the UK Government's 25-year Environment Plan and Net Zero emissions targets. This dedication includes tackling greenhouse gas emissions and waste. As part of our FME Flow Hosted provisioning we will implementing sustainable data management practices, such as energy-efficient data storage and geoprocessing methods, optimising database management, and leveraging energy-efficient cloud infrastructures. We will also employ eco-friendly development practices to ensure the software is as energy-efficient as possible, reducing the overall environmental impact of the portal. This includes optimising algorithms and database queries to minimise computational load and energy usage, as well as integrating tracking features to monitor usage activities and ensure that the infrastructure scales to the demands of the user, avoiding over-provisioning. Collaborating with our supply chain, we will engage to ensure environmentally sustainable practices are followed, including the use of cloud-based services which offer a sustainable supply chain. As part of our company's Carbon Reduction Plan, we are committed to using train travel wherever feasible, and encouraging the use of electric or hybrid taxis when necessary. We aim to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050, with a projected reduction in carbon emissions of 26% by 2028. To achieve this, we are implementing measures such as tracking and reviewing cloud computing metrics, reducing our office footprint, relocating to office spaces that source power from renewable energy resources, and encouraging virtual meetings with clients and prospective clients where possible.Covid-19 recovery
