Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
Channel 3 have a mature and consistent approach to the planning of this service. The project management discipline ensures that timescales, costs, risks, personnel and physical resource requirements are all identified and agreed before the project is initiated. This entails a very close working relationship with both administrative and clinical staff from the client organisation. The outcomes of the workshops is reflected in a rigorously documented set of the current or “As Is “Business processes. A well tried and tested set of workshops will deliver a consensus driven set of desired “To Be” processes which are also fully documented. These are then reflected in the set up and configuration of the host system. Note is taken of any required ancillary systems that directly interface with the clinical system; examples of this would be: order comms, clinical decision tools and pathology. These are incorporated into the overall design. A full set of training packages and personnel are provided in order that the end users gain a full working and operational knowledge of the final system. This includes training and reference material. The overall training package is agreed with the customer and reflects the day-to-day working constraints of the recipients.

How the setup or migration service works
We have a tried and tested approach to assessing the risk and cost of migration of clinical data between systems. The team can supplement client teams and bring a degree of impartiality and product agnostic experience to complex problems.

The method is both pragmatic but also considers the mandatory aspects of patient safety. We fully engage with all stakeholders and present a consensual view of the risks and benefits.
We have many options in the use of toolsets and Extract, Transform and Load methodologies and will choose one that closely aligns with the specific requirement. We also have a deep knowledge of the setup and configuration of clinical systems that mirror the designed “to be” business processes.
These consider knowledge gleaned from the design process, any workshops and experience from other implementations. The design also reflects industry best practice and provides for integration with other toolsets and ancillary software.

The project management discipline manages these parts of the lifecycle and ensures that the project is designed to Time, Cost & Quality and fully meets the stated requirements of the customer.
