Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
Our approach to cloud planning supports all stages of the buyer, delivery and transition to cloud support life cycle.

Our business, digital and cloud application and service alignment planning capability, ensures business capabilities are identified and cloud enabling options established.

Our business case and mobilisation planning capabilities, ensure the selection of the most appropriate cloud options; defining costs; capabilities; cloud solution/service contracting with vendors and implementation partners; cloud implementation roadmap and transition to a cloud operating support model.

Our Implementation planning capability, focuses on planning both the delivery of the cloud solution/service, while also designing and establishing the transition from an on-premise to cloud business and IT operating model.

Our cloud people capability planning service focuses on managing the knowledge acquisition and skills transfer for internal teams to manage the ongoing cloud delivery road map and provide cloud support to the business operation.

Setup and migration

How the setup or migration service works
Our services help buyers migrate to the cloud and between cloud services as outlined in the following 4 areas.

Capability Definition: establishing a view of the cloud-enabled organisational capabilities, prioritisation and dependencies of capabilities desired by the buyers.

Transition Roadmap: establishing a roadmap to deliver the desired capabilities, including the introduction of cloud-based business applications, enabling technologies (integration platforms) or enabling delivery capabilities (ePPM, automated solution management/data migration/testing/learning) to support both cloud migration and establishing ongoing cloud operating models to be realised.

Planning for Optimal Architecture Transition Steps: enabling faster speed to benefit, while balancing risk and technical debt. Ensuring the overall architecture delivery roadmap progresses through logical steps, to achieve desired pace of benefit delivery. Our approaches manage the removal of any ‘enabling’ technical debt, while balancing overall costs, risks and ensuring maximum benefit realisation.

Planning for People Change and Capability Development: ensuring the adoption of cloud, and/or new cloud solutions/services is embedded, by helping business and IT teams to be ready, willing and able to adopt new business cloud solutions.

Fighting climate change

We work hard to ensure that all our staff, suppliers and clients support environmental protection and improvement in the work that we do. We promote increased remote working and reduced travel and ensure that appropriate processes and systems are in place to secure this effectively. The work we do enables more effective use of technology to reduce our impact on the environment. Specifically:

• Hybrid working: we promote the use of hybrid working with our clients, arranging periodic face to face activity together, at a location to minimise travel.
• Travel: where travel is required, we seek to use public transport wherever possible and look to schedule activity, to maximise face to face time on a day, hence reduce the instances of travel.
• Sustainable accommodation: we would follow our client’s accommodation guidelines, however typically utilising hotel chains, where environment policies for use of facilities are often in place.
• Paperless office: we operate a paperless office first principle, wherever possible using electronic means of information capture.
• Recycling: we follow our clients recycling policies when on site or seek to recycle at our business locations.

Tackling economic inequality

Searchlights Creed that underpins how we operate our business and collaborate with our clients is at the heart of our proposition - We exist to increase the standard of living of society, by helping companies to be as well run as possible and help our clients create new business opportunities.
When delivering our services we guide our clients through the process of how to uplift client team skills and roles. Our approach is to work fairly, responsibly and with respect to internal and supply chain talent, to ensure knowledge and skills have a plan for uplift and to identify opportunities to engage talent and provide opportunities throughout our clients supply chains.

Equal opportunity

We do not allow any form of inequality within the workplace. We engage consultants based on their specific skill sets and are happy to help them to achieve new skills and career progression. We utilise consultants from a vast array of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds which we believe gives our team a much more representative outlook. This, in turn, enables us to achieve strong outcomes in the workplace.

Key to mobilisation of a new contract would be to:

• Verify working practices: to agree how the contract team would operate in terms of location, travel, communication, and environment to ensure a delivery environment is conducive for all team member’s needs. This may include – facility access or communication aides. A recent example, a Searchlight Consultant supporting a client assignment in Germany, having hearing impairments – buddy support was provided to help with English to German translation and use of supporting tools – including teams recording and transcript output.
• Understand any workforce dependencies: to agree how the combined team collaborate, considering knowledge, learning, social and health considerations to ensure all team members can actively collaborate.
Key to delivery of a contract would be to:
• Periodic Reviews: while periodic reviews often focus on deliverables and commercials, our relationship management reviews throughout the contract would also focus on the ways or working and practices being employed to:
o Maximise participation and inclusion from all parties.
o Ensure a balanced focus remains on consulting intervention and co-piloting to drive knowledge acquisition and capability uplift where appropriate and required

Wellbeing

Searchlights Creed that underpins how we operate our business and collaborate with our clients is at the heart of our proposition and is summarised as outlined below: “We exist to Increase the standard of living of society, by helping companies to be as well run as possible and help our clients create new business opportunities”

To achieve this, embedded into the way we operate is to
- Provide consultants, clients and supply chain partners with opportunities to participate and engage in service delivery and create an inclusive and open environment to work in
- This ensures a balance between service outcomes, personal goals and ensuring all people engaged have the support they need to ensure they know they are valued
- Our approach to forming service delivery teams ensures we understand how individuals need to be engaged, taking into account different cultures, learning, communication styles, while understanding key considerations that need to be accommodated outside of the working environment

After launching our service delivery, we then have both formal and informal means of checking collective teams well being, using face to face meetings, informal events, and specifically ensuring hybrid remote working team members are engaged over and above the work content both within and outside of the work place
