Fighting climate change
Akeso&Co is an SME with contribution to social value at the heart of the delivery of all its services. We are and have always been committed to contributing to the aims of all social value themes and are making changes continuously to drive improvements.
With respect to Fighting Climate Change, we are committed to the NHS’s Net Zero and sustainability targets/initiatives and to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040. We have a robust plan in place to manage our environmental impact and to reduce our carbon footprint, and have already achieved a reduction against target emissions. We project that our carbon emissions will decrease to 77.11 tCO2e by 2025. We have ambitious emissions reduction targets to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero as shown by the following:
• Changes to travel policy to include only necessary travel, encouraging digital meeting software and work from home flexibility. We have also significantly reduced our single-occupant car use within the Consulting and Data Science service line.
• Internal recycling and waste reduction initiatives, encouraging staff to only print where absolutely necessary, purchasing recycled paper, discouraging single-use plastic and educating staff on recycling.
• Energy efficiency initiatives such as automatic lighting, a well-insulated office to reduce energy requirements, renewable energy sources and IT equipment upgrade towards higher efficiency products.Covid-19 recovery
Akeso&Co is an SME with contribution to social value at the heart of the delivery of all our services. We are and have always been committed to contributing to the aims of all social value themes and are making changes continuously to drive improvements.
In terms of Covid-19 Recovery, we promote and champion hybrid working, using technology as our standard solution for our staff and when working with all stakeholders as a standard. This supports in removing geographical barriers to recruitment particularly for more junior staff. In addition, we provide governance and structure in a standardised way across programmes and organisations to support progress tracking, awareness of goals achieved and lessons learnt. Finally, we provide our staff with access to private healthcare, including GP services as a way to reduce the burden on the NHS.Tackling economic inequality
Akeso&Co is an SME with contribution to social value at the heart of the delivery of all our services. We are and have always been committed to contributing to the aims of all social value themes and are making changes continuously to drive improvements.
Through the delivery of our services, we ensure that our staff and clients are able to understand the steps that they can take to remove barriers for growth of new businesses and for individuals, towards Tackling Economic Inequality. This includes the adoption of hybrid working arrangements meaning that we now employ people over a wider geographical area. We have provided our staff with the tools, support and infrastructure to be able to effectively work anywhere, within the constraints of our Information Security Policy.Equal opportunity
Akeso&Co is an SME with contribution to social value at the heart of the delivery of all our services. We are and have always been committed to contributing to the aims of all social value themes and are making changes continuously to drive improvements.
Equal Opportunity is at the core of our Code of Conduct, in which the key principles are championing diversity, acting with integrity, working diligently and being accountable. These ensure that we consistently demonstrate ethical behaviour and foster a diverse environment when working with clients, partners, employees, and other third-party stakeholders. We pride ourselves in ensuring that priority groups, such as people with disabilities or BAME, are supported and encouraged to take opportunities to develop their skills.Wellbeing
Akeso&Co is an SME with contribution to social value at the heart of the delivery of all our services. We are and have always been committed to contributing to the aims of all social value themes and are making changes continuously to drive improvements.
With respect to Wellbeing, there are a few examples of how we are demonstrating action to support this theme, including physical and mental health, in our workforce:
• In 2021 we introduced an Employee Engagement Group to ensure that all our staff have a voice and influence in how we run our business as well as the environment that we work in. A number of changes and schemes have been adopted as a result of the recommendations this group.
• In 2022 wellbeing days were introduced into the leave policy allowing all staff to take time off at short notice.
• Wellbeing awareness sessions regularly run for all staff.
