Fighting climate change

Sustainable travel policies to encourage the use of trains and electric car and cycle to work schemes to encourage low-carbon travel as well as reducing the amount of travel throughout the business by committing to use digital meetings wherever possible for both internal and external meetings.

Oxygen practices a Hybrid working model, therefore employees are only required in the office 2 days a week, because of this we not only reduce our carbon footprint via travel but also have reduced our office size and energy consumption.

Our clients told us they needed to be at the forefront of addressing the climate emergency; we developed Insights Carbon as a vital tool to help them do just that. Rolled out over the last year and built on top of our existing Insights product, Insights Carbon provides public bodies with free, real-time insights into the carbon footprint associated with their third-party spending.

Energy saving measures within our office such as double glazing, PIR lighting & LED lighting.

Covid-19 recovery

Through Oxygen’s FreePay service in 2023 we enabled our clients to pay invoices totalling in excess of £583m to over 15,000 SME suppliers to the public sector early to support better cashflow. The benefits extend beyond financial gains - FreePay enhances relationships between buyers and suppliers, promotes transparency in purchase-to-pay practices and, in doing so, ensures timely payments. As councils and public bodies embrace FreePay, they not only improve their own efficiency, but also empower the businesses that form the backbone of their supply chains. Since inception, FreePay has paid £2.0bn of invoices early.

Our Early Payment programmes have generated £11m of savings in 2023 for local authorities.

Within our office we have improved handwashing facilities by introducing anti-bacterial gels and soaps, have changed our office layout to improve social distancing, have continued with hybrid/ remote working policies introduced during Covid and have expanded our sustainable travel solutions through cycle to work and electric car schemes.

Tackling economic inequality

Oxygen’s Freepay service supports the growth of SME’s through early payment of invoices to support better cashflow management, business resilience and employment opportunities.

Insights enables organisations to benchmark themselves against other organisations so they can spend their budgets more effectively, and provide improved outcomes for their constituents / service users.

Equal opportunity

Oxygen has a regularly reviewed equal opportunities policy which applies to employees, contractors and job applicants and we hold regular employee training sessions to ensure compliance throughout the business.

Achieving inclusivity and gender balance at all levels across the company remain an important objective. In 2023, our workforce was 53% male and 47% female – significantly better than the sector norm. Furthermore, 52% of our line and senior manager positions are held by women.

We have measures in place to support employees with disabilities and hold an annual pay review board to ensure equal pay throughout the business.

All employees are given learning and development opportunities and are encouraged to apply for internal promotions, even if their current skillset is in need of development.

Oxygen commits to and operates as a Living Wage employer where all staff are paid a Living Wage.

Wellbeing

We offer comprehensive support to employees for both physical and mental health, we provide staff with health cover, including remote GP access and mental health support.

We hold annual mental health workshops, plan bi-annual team building events and have freely available fruit in our office for all staff. We have workplace champions who organise regular in-work events such as yoga, health walks & crafting sessions.

Every member of staff is afforded two paid volunteering days and we organise regular events to support this, including charity football tournaments, Christmas present drives & wrapping, STEM for girls and talks at local colleges.

Our recent annual employee satisfaction survey speaks volumes: more than 90% of our staff participated, of which 96% said they would recommend working at Oxygen to their friends. Most importantly, 95% said they understood how their individual contributions align with our company objectives. This alignment is not accidental; it follows deliberate efforts to foster employee engagement and ensure everyone feels connected to our shared mission.
