Web chat accessibility testing
We routinely conduct comprehensive web chat testing with native assistive technology users to ensure our services deliver an inclusive experience. This testing assesses core user journeys, such as initiating a chat, interacting with agents, and accessing history, using technologies like JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Our approach follows GDS guidelines, utilizing a diverse panel of testers with visual, motor, and cognitive impairments to identify real-world barriers that automated tools may miss. We validate that chat elements—including input fields, buttons, and live updates—are fully perceivable, operable, and robust in accordance with WCAG 2.1 AA or 2.2 AA standards.

Testing includes verifying that screen readers correctly announce incoming messages and that users can navigate the interface entirely via keyboard without becoming trapped in focus loops. By analysing this qualitative feedback from native users, we continuously refine our web chat software to ensure it remains accessible to all public sector staff and citizens, regardless of their access needs.

API
Yes
What users can and can't do using the API
What users can do: Users can fully automate the service lifecycle via our RESTful API. This includes setting up new environments, provisioning AI workspaces, and configuring MLOps pipelines programmatically. Through the API, users can make real-time changes to security configurations, trigger automated DevOps deployments across AWS/Azure, and ingest datasets for AI training. It supports integration with existing CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to synchronize metadata and audit logs.

What users cannot do (Limitations): To maintain SaaS platform integrity and security, users cannot use the API to modify the underlying multi-tenant infrastructure or bypass organizational IAM policies. Bulk data exports are subject to rate-limiting to prevent service degradation. Users cannot programmatically alter global security encryption keys managed by the platform provider. Additionally, certain high-level account deletions or contract-level subscription changes must be performed through the secure web UI with multi-factor authentication for safety.

Customisation available
Yes
Description of customisation
What can be customised: Users can customise the SaaS environment to align with specific departmental workflows. This includes brandable dashboard themes, custom alert thresholds for cloud security, and tailored MLOps pipeline templates. Users can also configure bespoke data labelling schemas and define unique tagging structures for AWS/Azure resource management.

How users can customise: Customisation is performed through the secure administrative settings menu within the web UI or via configuration scripts uploaded through the API. Users can select from a library of pre-configured AI modules or create custom "recipes" for automated anomaly detection and forecasting.

Who can customise: Access to customisation features is governed by Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). While all users can customise personal dashboard views, "Administrator" or "Power User" roles are required for service-wide configurations, security policy adjustments, and shared pipeline templates. This ensures that customisations remain compliant with the organization’s overarching governance and security standards.

Scaling

Independence of resources
Independence of resources: To guarantee users are not affected by others' demand, the platform utilizes a multi-tenant architecture with logical resource isolation. High-demand tasks, such as AI model training, are processed in dedicated, auto-scaling containers to prevent performance degradation for other users. Integrated rate-limiting and "noisy neighbor" protections ensure equitable resource distribution across the entire SaaS environment. Continuous monitoring and elastic cloud hosting allow the platform to scale dynamically, maintaining consistent service levels during peak demand periods.
