Fighting climate change

Our Environmental Working Group (EWG), set up in 2018 to oversee sustainability and environmental issues, have developed our Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP). Our first Plan was published in 2022, followed by annual reports showing progress in our promise to limit and offset carbon emissions. We have pledged Getech to Carbon Neutrality by 2030 and Net-Zero by 2040, however, we’re exploring the possibility to become carbon negative and environmentally positive before this target, by storing more carbon than we emit, and actively tackling carbon levels beyond those caused by our business.
The EWG are currently looking into Gold-standard projects that help local and national communities, especially focusing on restoring natural habitats, planting trees, and researching sustainability technologies and solutions. We can support carbon storage projects in the regions of our customers, offsetting any business operations related to service delivery, and any Scope3 emissions from the production and operation of the computing hardware provided to that customer. Our current preferred partner is the Woodland Trust’s Woodland Carbon For Businesses programme.
Getech can fully consider the carbon footprint of any services or solutions put forward. For example, we can report on and offset the carbon footprints for the production and full life use of the any devices proposed, providing this detail on pre-dispatch reports and as part of MI provided to each customer. We use this detail to identify carbon savings across models, generations and services and show the offset services used to reduce a devices Carbon Footprint. For any services we supply, including those for Google services, we calculate the Scope3 emissions of delivering that service and can provide an offset, including transport, resource, and other service that may be required.
This year Getech has been independently awarded Ecologi’s highest Gold award for our Carbon Reduction Plan.

Covid-19 recovery

Getech is committed to creating and nurturing new talent. We currently have two apprentices in our team and we plan to increase this number as we grow our existing and future partnerships. We work closely with many educational institutions both locally and across the UK, looking for candidates and skillsets that would benefit the apprentice, the institution, and our company. We make sure that all apprentices are treated fairly, with the same benefits, and with the goal of full-time employment at the end of their apprenticeship. Getech evaluates student placements on a regular basis, and we are ready to work with members/customers placement teams to find suitable placements, internships, work-based projects or graduate experience programme opportunities. These will be designed to provide career-relevant work experience to enhance subject understanding, develop skills and improve the students’ career prospects as well as benefit the teams they will be working with. Many of our large partners, such as Lenovo, run UKI company-wide student work placement and graduate programmes, and they work with Getech to promote this to students of customer. These programmes usually last 12-months, open to degree level students and offers successful students the chance to apply their knowledge, experience, and learning, to make a positive difference in this fast-moving market. A variety of student placement roles are available, with potential candidates being interviewed with the possibility of becoming a valued member to that organisation. Getech identifies partners with significant social value commitments are assessed. For example, where end-of-life hardware is no longer reusable, we have partnered with the award winning RecyclingLives for recycling of non-reusable equipment to bare metals, supporting the circular economy. They have a comprehensive Social support programme including residential and employment programmes for the homeless, food redistribution services supporting charities, and HMP Academes to create employment opportunities.

Tackling economic inequality

Getech believe in nurturing new talent and building a bespoke plan of action to expand upon their skills to benefit the business but also to maximise the positivity and experience gained by the individual. We are already recognised as one of the top employers in our region, and we look to take on new employees as part of our growth focus, either experienced, related experience and/or apprenticeship/placements. These will cover account management/sales, accounting and administration and technical service provisioning, such as warehousing and configuration. Every new employee is provided with tailored training in the first 6 months of employment, to allow for settling in, probation and a full understanding of the role and employees wishes and skills. This will ensure full qualifications levels are reach in alignment to equipment manufacturer’s requirements, Getech’s professional service requirements, our quality-of-service commitments under ISO9001 and matched to their own personal drivers and career aspirations.
Currently Getech is supporting two Apprenticeships and has been so impressed with the experience and work ethics from these individuals, we will be offering them full employment at the end of their apprenticeships.
Getech has a broad spectrum of partners and solutions and we’re willing to include knowledge transfer and/or training programmes for all customers we work with. Within the first 3 months of any contract, to allow for a full understanding of the customer’s requirements and our portfolio, the Account Manager will work with the customer and our support teams to offer and define a bespoke programme of training, knowledge transfer and support. We are also willing to provide our Subject Matter Experts, who are experienced in multiple technologies, to organise and promote discussion groups focusing on new and emerging technologies and how our customers can benefit from these.

Equal opportunity

Getech is committed to a policy of equality and diversity, treating all employees and job applicants equally, promoting inclusion amongst the workforce and eliminating all forms of unlawful discrimination. Nor will they be disadvantaged by any conditions of employment or by Getech’s requirements, that cannot be justified as necessary on operational grounds.
