- Data on the Kiteworks platform remains under the customers ownership at all times. Should the customer wish to extract their data from the platform, data owners can do this at any time up until the license expiration by simply logging into the platform and downloading their available data via HTTPS, SFTP or via the available plugins.

- A customer has their own dedicated Customer Success Manager (CSM) who checks in on a regular basis. When the customer nears the end of their contract, Kiteworks will provide a renewal quotation and the account manager / CSM will discuss with the customer whether they wish to renew their contract or not. If the customer wishes to end their contract the customer has the functionality to export all data themselves.

- Kiteworks is developed as a black box pre-hardened appliance. All customer data is encrypted at-rest with AES-256 bit encryption at two levels. Data is encrypted both on the block level and on the file level, and secure delete is also supported. Kiteworks also includes a WAF, IPS & IDS on every system.

The customer retains ownership & administration of the platform, and the platform requires that TLS 1.2/1.3 is in use at all times. Availability and resilience

- Kiteworks inherets a 99,9% uptime guarantee from our third party hosting providers (AWS/Azure). For customer hosted or customer on-premise systems, availability is managed & owned by the customer. If Kiteworks fails to meet the Up-Time Commitment, Customer shall have the right, as Customer’s sole remedy for such failure, to receive Service Credits pro rata to the amount of time Hosted Services are unavailable, subject to the exclusions above, after Service Credits are claimed in writing by Customer and the corresponding unavailability is confirmed by Kiteworks with the hosting provider. By way of example, if such unavailability is for twenty- four (24) hours, Customer shall be entitled to Service Credits equal to 1/365th of fees applicable to an annual License Term. Service Credits will be applied to any amounts due from Customer or if no amounts are due, Kiteworks shall pay Customer an amount equal to the dollar amount of Service Credits within thirty (30) days following the month during which Service Credits are earned. Service Credits shall not be awarded unless claimed within fifteen (15) days following the end of the month during which the corresponding unavailability occurred.

In the Kiteworks hosted model, Kiteworks is designed for resilience through redundant infrastructure deployment with mirrored servers across disaster recovery data centers using duplicate equipment and multiple internet feeds from different providers, high availability configurations supporting multiple instances in different locations with different IP addresses allowing seamless failover, and recommended architecture of three application database servers to maintain operations if one fails plus at least two file storage servers with replication between them to prevent data loss.

Variable authentication methods are supported, including username & password, certificate based authentication (CBA), SSO (SAML / Kerberos), MFA (TOTP, email, SMS, RADIUS) and SSH key pairs for SFTP based access.
