- How the planning service works

PTS's planning methodology involves working collaboratively with the client across the following stages:
• Assessment: obtaining information about the existing environment, through stakeholder engagement (typically IT teams, estates, procurement, end users, head of operations, special business units, etc.) and documentation review, to then undertake a Business & Technical Assessment.
• Analysis – synthesising the discovery output, with urgent issues prioritised to support the Client’s future ambitions, incorporating PTS’ knowledge of the market, and feeding back to the client to confirm/clarify requirements.
• Reporting – following analysis, PTS will develop the planning deliverables, which could include strategy, playbooks (day-in-the-life user scenarios showing the benefits of smart from the perspective of different stakeholders), high-level design, target operating model, procurement/selection of suppliers/providers, programme/project plan, RACI matrix, RAID log and any other outputs that support the planning of the incorporation of smart systems into the client's cloud ecosystem. - Planning service works with specific services

Fighting climate change
PTS takes environmental responsibility seriously and is committed to developing our business towards ecological sustainability. PTS’s approach is on a group wide basis, embracing all of our group resources together with individual responsibilities.
PTS’ aim is to reduce, where economically and commercially viable, our environmental impact by means of energy, transport and materials efficiency, reduction of fossil fuels, waste and packaging. PTS is continuously improving its materials handling through waste minimisation and maximising recycling.
PTS commits to minimising its carbon footprint. As technology consultants, we champion video conferencing to reduce unnecessary travel. When required on-site, we advocate public transport use in all but exceptional circumstances. We only print when essential; documentation is primarily shared digitally.
PTS’ aim is to operate all our facilities within all applicable laws, regulations and permits and to seek cost-effective improvements.
PTS works to continuously reduce its environmental impact. PTS will work to build up experience and a good reputation with the environment regulators with regards to control of pollution. PTS will ensure that these objectives are delivered by:
• Continuous improvement through performance monitoring;
• Engaging with our Team and highlighting this Policy;
• Management reporting to the Executive Committee on an annual basis;
• Active Group initiatives to reduce waste and packaging as much as practicably possible and following a recycling scheme which records disposals by type;
• Actively seeking to reduce our carbon foot print by instigating flexible working arrangements and introducing a staff travel plan;
• Engagement with an electronic equipment disposal company for all our disposals, whom specialise in equipment remarketing, ethical disposal and environmental management;
• Use of environmentally certified datacentre facilities.Covid-19 recovery
The health and safety of our team and communities we work in is always our number one priority. We aim to demonstrate support of local events and activities which promote healthy living and wellbeing, and to encourage healthy living for our employees.
In order to help local communities to manage and recover from the impact of COVID-19, PTS will follow government guidelines and encourage remote working practices and in the event of on-site working requirement we will ensure that our employees respect social distancing rules and use all necessary PPE, i.e. face masks.
Even pre-Covid-19, PTS strongly promoted that “work is what you do, not where/when you work”. Whilst we appreciate the value of collaborative/in-person working, we see substantial benefit to the wellbeing of our staff in flexible working policies.Tackling economic inequality
PTS mentors and guides those in communities where we consult. When working with Universities, we offer Students interested in careers in technology the opportunity to shadow our consultants to understand how to apply their education in practice/the working world.
We run a “Project Co-ordinator Programme” that is open to people with different learning styles, providing they have a desire to learn and good work ethic. Many of these employees develop into project managers within our organisation.
We run apprenticeship programmes to provide entry points that develop technical knowledge/competencies for those who thrive with more hands-on approaches to learning.
PTS runs regular Summer internships for school-leavers in our HR, Marketing, and Professional Services departments. We continue to give career advice, coaching and help with studies post-internship, e.g. role-playing interviews.
Our graduate programme offers a more traditionally academic entry point into PTS, with many graduates developing into leaders within the business.
Where clients have indicated a desire to be involved in such programmes, we always accommodate/adapt schemes to suit specific requests.Equal opportunity
PTS ensures that recruitment, selection, training, development and promotion procedures for any assignment result in no job applicant or employee receiving less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, religion, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, disability, trade union membership or non-membership, sex, sexual orientation, marital status or part-time employment. Our objective is to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and otherwise treated solely on the basis of their relevant aptitudes, skills and abilities.
Our Service Delivery Managers have a primary responsibility for successfully meeting these objectives by:
• Not discriminating in the course of the assignment against consultants
• Not inducing or attempting to induce others to practise unlawful discrimination
• Bringing to the attention of all placement employees that they will be subject to disciplinary action for discrimination of any kind.
In addition to issuing the policy and ensuing that it is enforced, we also monitor the placements and recommendations of the consultants we make. We provide for all our consultants to voluntarily supply information on ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability and any additional information that they may wish to provide. This data is captured on our database but is not accessible by any placement or management staff when undertaking assignment selection. The information is available to the Managing Director and personnel staff, who can produce reports on legislation compliance. If a consultant has chosen to provide the information, then data can be extracted on, for example, age, sex, ethnic origin and the religion distribution of assignments made by a Service Delivery Manager or for a particular customer. These data extractions are made from time to time to underpin the enforcement of the policy and to ensure that we are meeting our objectives.Wellbeing
PTS aims to create a positive impact in society and improve people’s lives wherever possible. PTS supports local communities because we know that vibrant communities are essential to our success.
