How the setup or migration service works
Carillion Cloud Cover utilises the infrastructure within Azure and Microsoft 365 graph to obtain the information to support devices. Within this remote administration, diagnostics, and assistance is provided without any requirements for additional hardware or software to be installed on the customer equipment or network.
Configuration of the solution is through Microsoft Teams Room portal, initially. This then information is provided to Carillion through a support portal, which only Carillion have access to. This ensures that only rooms which the customer would like to be supported are within the Carillion support tooling completed in partnership with local IT management.
Carillion utilise cloud-based services; Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services. As your organisation continues to grow, the integration allows for consistent collaboration experience across any size meeting room estate. The tools used are built to support a growing number of Teams Rooms devices without compromising any performance.

How the quality assurance and performance testing works
Users require a Microsoft Teams account and compatible hardware to use the service. The service is dependent on an internet connection. Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro licenses are required, and onboarding of the customer and their rooms into the Microsoft Teams Room multi-tenant portal is necessary. Before any hardware is onboarded onto the platform, the device will require to undertake acceptance testing into support. Only known good working devices are supported from the onset.
During this process, various aspects of the system, including firmware, software level, wiring schematics drawings, and functionality, are meticulously checked to ensure optimal performance before support is provided.
Configuration of the solution is through Microsoft Teams Room portal, initially. This then information is provided to Carillion through a support portal, which only Carillion have access to. This ensures that only rooms which the customer would like to be supported are within the Carillion support tooling. Incidents are automatically reported through the Microsoft Teams solution and highlighted to tracks tests and incidents, assign a unique ticket number for easy reference and tracking. The team are well versed in troubleshooting Microsoft Teams Rooms and leverage diagnostic tools by hardware vendors and Microsoft to identify the root cause efficiently.

Microsoft Teams offers several environmental benefits that contribute to sustainability and can dramatically reduce our environmental footprint. Teams not only enhances productivity but also contributes to a more sustainable work environment by promoting remote collaboration and reducing unnecessary travel.
Even before the pandemic, business was shifting away from in-person travel to events and conferences due to an increased focus on carbon costs and the environmental impact. This was led by a need to reduce air travel.
A report by Cornell showed that by replacing in-person conferences to wholly online, not only reduced the total energy usage by 90%, but the carbon footprint might be reduced by up to 94%.
It also reduces the additional impact of print, food waste, plastic bottles, air conditioning use and energy not only venues but the associated accommodation and local transport.
The use of video also is better for the user. It offers full flexibility for when it is used, when you meet and for how long. Should an urgent business requirement or personal circumstance require a change, a quick face to face call can make or change arrangements without issue.
It suddenly becomes cost and time effective to use video than travel for 24hrs to attend a 4 hour event then travel back. The return of work life balance has additional welfare and mental health benefits.

Covid-19 recovery

In both the UK and Globally COVID-19 presented significant challenges to Governments, organisations and business alike. All needed to rapidly adapt and remodel services and daily operational management, without the need for staff to meet face to face in order to minimise infection risk and the spread of the disease.
This created a new and unprecedented communication challenge. We championed the use of Microsoft Teams, an all-in-one video communication and collaboration tool, which whilst well used in the corporate sector was unknown to many due to the reliance on legacy video platforms PSTN, H.323, and ISDN. We had been deploying it all over the world prior to Covid with departments such as DFID deploying video. We knew its instant scalability and deployment would be of use if implemented, by Government and business.
One of our customers National Health Service (NHS) Digital had been using Microsoft Teams, they acted fast and started using it at scale, with minimal resource. They knew it’s value and an innovative agile approach was used. They took a lot of the bureaucracy out of the decisions to deploy by empowering local staff to manage implementation across the country.
Teams brings many benefits in such critical times. It is fast, secure, scalable, accessible from multiple devices such as mobiles, desktop, browser and tablets and cloud hosted.
Adoption was rapid not just in Government, but in the corporate space and we helped lots of companies to get moving again within hours. Teams daily users jumped each night.
Satisfying the high demand for quality visual communication delivered at minimal cost at scale is something we bring to G-Cloud post Covid.

Tackling economic inequality

The problem of economic inequality in clear reference to the disparities among income and wealth was highlighted and dramatically brought to public attention in reality for the first time during the pandemic.
The lack of Governmental and healthcare preparedness in every nation and huge global shortages in personal protective equipment (PPE), even for hospitals and critical or key workers shocked all of us. However it was also evident that economic inequality made a bad situation much worse for many workers, not just in the UK but across the world.
Not only was PPE unavailable or too expensive for those at the edges of society or in low paid jobs, the chances of this same group having a variety of underlying health conditions like high blood pressure or asthma and in lower-income individuals put them at greater risk of exposure and more likely to be affected.
The use of Microsoft Teams will not affect economic inequality, but it has been made for accessibility and inclusivity in mind.
As a basic user there is no cost and it will work on multiple devices and platforms so should a household have a tablet, desktop, laptop, mobile or any type Teams is accessible.
This gives people the opportunity to attend virtual interviews, to take training and accessing content they may not have had access to previously.
Microsoft run many programs redistributing wealth to society in order to help address the balance and provide opportunities to those in need.
We employ local first and take associate team members. Working with local agencies who specialise in long term unemployed placements or those form disadvantaged backgrounds. We take in local people with no Audio-Visual experience and train them in returning to work or for the younger ones, what work is and can mean to them.

Teams uses Dynamic View which intelligently arranges the elements of your meeting for an optimal viewing experience. As people join, turn on video, start to speak, or begin to present in a meeting, Teams auto-adjusts and personalises your layout. With Dynamic view, attendees who are deaf can pin a sign language interpreter, fit the interpreter’s video to frame, and see the interpreter alongside shared content throughout the meeting.
With PowerPoint Live in Teams, presenters can feel more confident as they present, with their slides, slide notes, meeting chat, and participant video feeds all in a single view. The ability to see the facial expressions of attendees while also sharing slides may be particularly helpful for presenters who are neurodiverse and want more information about their audience.
For presenters with memory loss, having slides and slide notes in a single view will make it easier to stay on track, members who have learning or attention disabilities can privately navigate through shared slides at their own pace, jumping back to any slide for quick reference. People who are blind and low vision can privately both turn on a high contrast mode and use a screen reader to consume the shared slides.
Live captions now provides translation in over 50 languages and using AI noise suppression you can turn down background noise. This is especially helpful for people who are hard of hearing, are neurodiverse or have attention disabilities like ADHD/ADD.

Wellbeing

Remember, taking care of ourselves is not only beneficial for our personal lives but also contributes to a more productive and workplace. There are 5 main types an employer should address and help employees naviagate. Emotional, physical, social, workplace and societal well-being. Digital solutions though group sessions or very personal ones offer therapeutic approaches with positive behaviour change. Teams Apps are accessible at any time and from anywhere, providing help on demand without the delays related to in-person therapy and are convenient, simple to use, and anonymous.
Another advantage of digital solutions is that they allow the individual employee to decide how they engage with a therapeutic approach. A large number of Microsoft partners have now released Apps within Teams with Digital tools making mental-health support more accessible and have the benefit of a low threshold to start dealing with mental-health challenges. Many people still seem not to want to admit that they might be stressed or dealing with mental-health issues and this reluctance can be addressed with a thoughtful approach. Users are more likely to use solutions when they are positively framed, as a way to boost well-being and performance underlining the importance of removing any stigma.
Microsoft has especially since the pandemic fought to put mental health on a par with physical health promoting space to heal and a return to the office without fear of repercussions.
The platform also allows the user to arrange and join calls when they want to, build in time for themselves, switch off, exercise, relax or just be with family and friends, there is no limit.
Some Apps in Teams can create a flexible happiness and well-being plan. This can become linked to a person’s own activity or that of a group that you can continue to use throughout life.
