Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
We provide a comprehensive range of services drawing on the experience of our network of over 500 independent consultants which allows us to offer planning support for implementation tailored to the needs of each buyer.

The plans we provide are based on data-gathering and underpinned by our core project management and skills transfer methodology. We have extensive experience of developing highly effective implementation plans in a wide range of situations and are flexible on delivery methodology. We work with each buyer to develop an approach that is appropriate to them.

We help buyers to ensure that the right resources are being deployed with the right focus. Some examples of the areas where we provide input to assist in implementation planning include:
• financial modelling;
• business case analysis;
• mapping best practice;
• resource optimisation;
• channel shift; and
• benefits realisation.

Crucially, we set out approaches for mitigation of risk and contingency planning and provide an unambiguous approach for change management to support the successful implementation.

How the training service works
We are an experienced training provider helping to upskill staff and develop knowledge in the public sector. We have been delivering international, cross-sector learning and development programmes via our own open programmes and bespoke designed programmes since 2009.

Our training is focused on helping people in the public sector to build the relevant skills and practice to deal with the problems they face. Some elements of our training support include navigating change, dealing with complexity, lean process improvement, agile project management, influencing and coaching, wicked and tame issues and systems leadership.

Our training offers specifically designed elements (experiential learning) for effective capability building. Client feedback from our formal learning sessions has demonstrated 91% ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ satisfaction levels, and over 70% report still using the skills transferred ‘daily’ or ‘monthly’ six months later.

Quality assurance and performance testing

Quality assurance and performance testing service
Yes
How the quality assurance and performance testing works
Buyers benefit from our robust quality assurance and performance testing approaches which heavily involve their input. Our prime aim is to ensure that the results and quality expected of us are achieved – or exceeded – within the engagement, and that the results extend beyond the delivery activity.

We work to ensure that our approaches complement and support the quality standards of our buyers. In doing so, we support their capacity building, help them boost their own quality assurance and performance testing, and ensure effective contract completion and handover.

Our work is documented so that, alongside the knowledge buyers’ staff will have gained, we leave them with a toolkit explaining the aims and objectives, methodology adopted, deliverables planned and achieved, issues identified and resolved and plan for moving forwards.

All of our work is assured and overseen by experts – RedQuadrant service leads and public service consultants use their specialist knowledge to underpin our quality and performance testing support throughout.

Support levels
We do not define specific levels of support in advance but flex the level of support we provide depending on the requirements of each engagement. With our clients, we discuss and agree support that is appropriate to their situation, timescale, and the outcomes they want to achieve. We use their input to design the best possible solution to meet their needs. The costs for our support are defined in our rate card and pricing document.

All of our work is overseen by both a project manager and quality assurance lead. As appropriate we will provide a technical account manager.

Fighting climate change

We advance environmental and sustainability concerns in all areas of work and are committed to following best environmental and sustainability practice. We go beyond the letter of laws and regulations to promote an environmentally conscious workplace. At the start of each project, we will meet to agree on aims, targets, and indicators for delivering the work in the most environmentally sustainable way possible. This could include: •Respecting our local and global environment by taking sustainable forms of travel, buying from ethical businesses, reusing, and recycling materials. •Making donations either financial or in-kind to support community projects or other initiatives. •Offering free virtual workshops to customers, the local voluntary sector and/or local schools and colleges on areas such as systems thinking and project management. •Bringing expertise into the project from our partners at the London Waste and Recycling Board. •Considering environmental issues for all the products and services we supply. •Regularly auditing our impact on the environment. •Offsetting all our email carbon through a donation to Carbon Offsets To Alleviate Poverty (COTAP) – www.cotap.org – and planting trees to offset all our online meetings: https://www.sustainable-meeting.com/how-it-works •Resourcing – our flexible network of associates means that often we can supply an appropriately skilled consultant locally rather than requiring travel. •Our commitments to partner with local businesses and local charities could also be tailored to promote local action on the environment.
We have also recently published our Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP – https://www.redquadrant.com/_files/ugd/12b1f3_906a43c5bba74473a04dae0c87d7114a.pdf) which is externally verified and further outlines our commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, in line with PPN 06/21. To accomplish our goal, we will increasingly invest in sustainable supply chains, products, and services.

Tackling economic inequality

Our support for greater economic equality focuses on objectives such as economic growth, job security, training, and work experience for residents. For specific projects we will offer, where appropriate, one or more of the following: •Dedicated day to identify potential areas for improvement in relation to equality, diversity, and inclusion. This can include targeted workshops with customers or partners. •Where additional resource is needed on a project, we will look to employ local people who are out of work or bring local people or local SMEs into our team. •Shadowing and work placements for local students or those seeking work in consulting, learning and development or related sectors. •Mentoring support, supporting mentoring programmes in local voluntary organisations, schools and colleges. •A two-month work experience opportunity for a local young person – our highly regarded consultancy business internship. •A free workshop which will be made available to staff, local voluntary sector and/or local schools and colleges on relevant topics (including systems thinking and project management). •A day of consulting on innovation and social benefits, agreeing on input with the client. This can include engaging with communities around projects and investing up to £500 in community schemes through charitable donations. •Improving staff skills – offering the first two modules of our own Leading Transformation programme for free (valued at £200 per module) and discounted access to the remainder of our programme. •Virtual engagements with community groups to capture their priorities in terms of environmental and social justice in prioritizing activities for improvement and savings.
