Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
Wire is designed for high availability using Amazon Web Services (AWS). The service is hosted on resilient AWS infrastructure across multiple availability zones, providing redundancy and fault tolerance. This architecture minimizes single points of failure and supports continuous service availability in line with AWS best practices.

For the managed cloud option we are also working with various European cloud providers, where SLAs are part of the individual negotiation.
Approach to resilience
Core components are deployed with redundancy across multiple AWS Availability Zones to avoid single points of failure. We use automated scaling and health checks to maintain service continuity, and we back up critical data with tested recovery procedures to support restoration in the event of disruption.
Outage reporting
Service outages are reported through established operational and communication processes. Service health is continuously monitored, and incidents impacting availability are identified and escalated promptly. Customers are informed of significant outages through appropriate communication channels, with updates provided during the incident and a summary shared after resolution where applicable.

Identity and authentication

Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels
Access to management interfaces and support channels is restriced by using centralized identity management and role-based access control. Access is limited to authorized personnel only and enforced through Single Sign-On (SSO) with strong authentication and multi-factor authentication (MFA). Privileged access is granted on a least-privilege basis, logged for auditability, and reviewed regularly to ensure continued appropriateness.

Operational security

Configuration and change management standard
Supplier-defined controls
Configuration and change management approach
Wire maintains formal configuration and change management processes to ensure system integrity, security, and availability. Configuration baselines are defined, documented, and version-controlled, with changes restricted to authorized personnel. All changes are risk-assessed, reviewed, tested, and approved prior to deployment, following the principle of least privilege. Changes are tracked through auditable workflows, with rollback procedures in place to minimize operational risk and ensure service continuity.
Vulnerability management type
Supplier-defined controls
Vulnerability management approach
Wire operates a continuous vulnerability management process to identify, assess, and remediate security weaknesses across its systems and applications. Vulnerabilities are identified through automated scanning, code reviews, dependency monitoring, and third-party assessments. Findings are risk-rated based on severity and potential impact, prioritized accordingly, and tracked through remediation to closure. Patches and mitigations are applied in line with defined timelines, with verification performed to ensure effectiveness and reduce the risk of recurrence.
Protective monitoring type
Supplier-defined controls
Protective monitoring approach
Wire employs continuous protective monitoring to detect, analyze, and respond to security events across its infrastructure and applications. Logging and monitoring are enabled for critical systems, with alerts configured for anomalous or suspicious activity. Security events are reviewed and correlated to support timely investigation and incident response. Monitoring controls are regularly reviewed and tuned to ensure ongoing effectiveness and alignment with the evolving threat landscape.
Incident management type
Supplier-defined controls
Incident management approach
Wire maintains a formal incident management process to ensure timely detection, containment, investigation, and resolution of security incidents. Incidents are classified by severity and impact, with defined escalation paths and response roles. The process includes communication procedures, evidence preservation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Post-incident reviews are conducted to validate remediation and drive continuous improvement of security controls and response readiness.
