Reliable planning is a key part of Cross 8’s offering across all of our services.

Our extensive experience of leading and delivering change from strategy, through mobilisation, to implementation means that we can help you create plans where none exist; and act as a critical friend to bring a robust challenge to existing plans.

We work collaboratively with you to determine the best method to deliver your change, and then develop a stretching but realistic plan together taking account of your resource availability and change capacity.

Using real life examples from our wealth of experience, our change experts are able to use best-in-class planning methods such as reference class forecasting, to increase the accuracy and reliability of our plans.

We have successfully used these techniques across Agile, traditional waterfall, and hybrid delivery models, and in environments with multiple service providers / suppliers.

We believe that the planning stage is incredibly important and by investing time to do this together - and getting stakeholders across your organisation aligned with the plan - we maximise the chance of delivering your change on time.

Cross 8 do not sell dedicated training services, but a fundamental part of our offering is to leave our clients better off than when we joined them, and we see knowledge transfer and upskilling of your people as a key part of successful delivery.

We follow a structured Knowledge-to-Action framework. Taking a planned, structured approach means that Knowledge Transfer is practical and tangible. By focussing on action we evidence that the transfer has been effective.

We believe it is essential that knowledge transfer is an ongoing process. To that end, we use a variety of tools and techniques throughout our engagements, which can be run separately or fed into your existing training team:

In order to ensure standards are assessed without impacting delivery timelines, we have embedded these compliance checks into our process.

Our Test Management service provides end-to-end management of complex cloud system and process testing, to increase confidence in delivery.
BPSS screened Test Managers develop a Test Strategy and Plan in conjunction with operational and digital stakeholders, then lead execution.
It provides an independent but collaborative Test Management function focussed on testing the right things to ensure your implementation is defect free.

An account manager and technical lead are assigned to all engagements and will be available during office hours.

At Cross 8 we only appoint account managers who are themselves experts in change delivery. They take a close role in the accounts they are responsible for, challenging our project teams from a position of knowledge.

Technical leads are a core part of the delivery team and provide on the ground support.

Technical leads and account managers meet a minimum of weekly to ensure that everybody involved in the delivery is informed.

Fighting climate change

As an SME in the service industry the majority of our environmental impact comes from our Scope 3 emissions. Our Scope 1 and 2 emissions have reduced by 54% from 2019 baseline. Our Scope 3 emissions have reduced by 56% from the 2019 baseline. We offset all of our emissions through a Gold Standard verified offsetting project, for 2022 we chose a "Clean Water in Zambia" project. We are committed to achieving net zero by 2050. Our remote working skills have matured considerably through Covid since 2020. During this time, we continued to successfully deliver for our clients, and some have remained that way. We have experience working with online whiteboard collaboration tools such as Miro Boards, conferencing tools such as MS Teams, as well as using instant message systems e.g., WhatsApp to provide real-time collaboration. We also use Cloud based document editing and sharing via Microsoft Office for ease of sharing information with stakeholders remotely. This enables us to reduce our Scope 3 emissions when delivering for our clients.

Covid-19 recovery

Cross 8 quickly adopted a remote working policy following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although we have an office, we do not insist on attendance and allow our workforce the flexibility to choose where best they work from.

Tackling economic inequality

Cross 8 are highly motivated to improve the businesses they work in, especially through knowledge transfer. Our consultants enjoy collaborating, passing on skills through mentoring and training, developing the internal capabilities of their customers. We have mentored many apprentices over the years and our team volunteer at ‘Business in School’ days to support GCSE/A Level Business students.
To build these values into the service requirements our Social Value Lead will work with our clients to identify opportunities for our combined team to volunteer on any initiatives to help build digital skills either within a local community or within the client’s own workforce.

We have a purpose built office in a converted barn on the edges of the countryside but we don’t insist on attendance, we trust our staff to work wherever is most suitable for them. We like to think our holiday policy is unique. We don't limit time off to the contractual holiday allowance - it's better for our people, and for us, if they've had that break and recharged whenever it's needed - we trust our team to make the right decisions. We have at least four social events a year, which bring the whole team together. Events have included quad biking, paddle boarding, tree top climbing, cycling, BBQs and celebration dinners. To build this into our service, we will provide ongoing support for our team, through open forums and regular check-ins with their Account leads, providing extra support when needed.
