Sustainable Practices
Environmental sustainability is a core value at Sync. We actively work to minimise our ecological footprint by implementing energy- efficient technologies, reducing waste, and adopting eco-friendly practices throughout our operations.
Certification to ISO 14001
We have certified our operations with ISO 14001, an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. This certification reflects our unwavering commitment to proactively identify and mitigate environmental risks, demonstrating our dedication to sustainable practices.
Significant Reduction in Emissions
In the period (21-22), we achieved a 6.63% year-on-year reduction in emissions. This reduction is based on actual, absolute decreases in total energy usage, not just against an intensity factor. This reduction is particularly important given the growth in revenue across the group, totalling approximately £60 million in the same period. We are committed growing sustainably without compromising our environmental responsibilities.
Continual Emission Reduction Targets
Building on our progress to date, we are targeting a further 10% reduction in emissions for the period (22-23). This ambitious goal reflects our dedication to continuous improvement and demonstrates our confidence in implementing effective strategies for sustainable growth.
100% Renewable Energy Usage
All our operations run on 100% renewable energy. This is a pivotal step towards reducing our carbon footprint and underscores our commitment to transitioning towards a sustainable energy future.
Transitioning Company Vehicles to Electric Models
We have initiated the transition of our company vehicles to fully electric models. Presently, 23% of our entire fleet is fully electric (with this number steadily growing), with a further 23% being hybrid vehicles. Multiple charging points have been installed at our company HQ to support this transition.Equal opportunity
Diversity and Inclusion
We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce fosters creativity, innovation, and resilience. We are committed to creating a workplace where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives. We implement inclusive hiring practices, provide equal opportunities for career advancement, and offer diversity and inclusion training to all employees.
Disability Confident: Committed and Progressing Towards ‘Employer’ Status
We proudly hold the 'Disability Confident: Committed' status and are currently in the process of upgrading to 'Disability Confident: Employer'. This signifies our strong commitment to providing equal opportunities and creating an inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities. By actively participating in the Disability Confident scheme, we demonstrate our dedication to removing barriers and ensuring that disabled employees can thrive in our workplace.
Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Training for All Staff
We believe that education is a powerful tool for fostering understanding and empathy. We provide comprehensive Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) training to all our staff. This training empowers employees with the knowledge and skills needed to recognise and challenge biases, promote inclusivity, and champion diversity in all aspects of their work.
Action to Boost Representation of Under- represented Staff
We are committed to taking proactive steps to increase the representation of under-
represented groups across our organisation, and run periodic audits to understand if our practices are indeed effective at providing opportunities for under-represented groups.
By monitoring and addressing representation, we aim to create a workplace that reflects the rich tapestry of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that make our team stronger and more innovative.Wellbeing
Employee Wellbeing
We recognise that our team are our most valuable asset. We provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive work environment that promotes physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. This includes access to health and wellness programs, mental health resources, flexible work arrangements, and ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth.
Fair Pay and Working Conditions
We strive to offer our team a rewarding and fulfilling career. This starts with ensuring that each team member receives fair compensation for their contributions. We adhere to industry standards and regulatory guidelines to guarantee that every team member is paid equitably for their role and responsibilities.
We are dedicated to maintaining excellent working conditions across all our locations. This includes safe and ergonomically designed workspaces, as well as policies that promote a healthy work-life balance. We understand that a comfortable and secure work environment is essential for employees to thrive and deliver their best work.
Training and Development Opportunities
We are committed to nurturing the professional growth of our employees. In roles such as technical support, we go beyond the ordinary by not only covering the costs of training courses but also providing financial incentives and bonuses for successful completion. This approach encourages ongoing learning and demonstrates our investment in the continued development and expertise of our team members.
Mental Health Support
We recognise the importance of mental health in the workplace. To demonstrate our commitment, we have made the 'Mental Health at Work' commitment in collaboration with the charity 'Mind'. This commitment outlines our dedication to promoting mental well-being and creating a supportive environment for all employees. We offer resources, programs, and support access to mental health services to ensure that every team member feels valued, supported, and equipped to manage their mental health effectively.
