Operational security
- Configuration and change management standard
- Supplier-defined controls
- Configuration and change management approach
-
When new features and functionalities are implemented, they are tested
and analysed in our testing environment and go through a scanning
process to check security implications. We assign a version number to
track new changes to our system, alongside the modified date and time,
the person in charge of the modifications, and notes. After the
modification are tested and approved, the new features are uploaded to
our production environment. - Vulnerability management type
- Supplier-defined controls
- Vulnerability management approach
- Climate Essentials undertake vulnerability scans, keep track of vulnerability announcements and monitor information about potential threats from security mailing lists. Where any potential vulnerabilities are identified, patches are applied as appropriate in a timely manner. Incoming traffic to Climate Essentials is routed through Azure Firewall which automatically blocks IP addresses making requests at an excessive rate.
- Protective monitoring type
- Supplier-defined controls
- Protective monitoring approach
- Traffic between infrastructure components is routed over private network links and is encrypted where appropriate. Routing tables are configured to prevent inappropriate data egress and connections to internal components. All traffic is encrypted using SSL/TLS encryption and modern cipher suites to prevent common SSL attacks such as POODLE. The same encryption technologies are used to protect traffic between Climate Essentials and our users.
- Incident management type
- Supplier-defined controls
- Incident management approach
- Data can only be viewed by Admins. Unauthorised access attempts result in an account being locked until an administrator confirms the user’s identity/resets access. Security Groups, which block/allow traffic based on originating/destination IP and port, provide additional protection. In the unlikely event of an incident or breach, notifications are sent to administrators for investigation. E-mails are sent to affected users and communications continue until the issue is resolved. System data is secured against accidental/intentional loss.

Fighting climate change
Our platform measures greenhouse gas emissions from an organisation’s activity, guiding mitigation efforts by identifying emission sources and setting reduction targets. It enables informed decision-making, directing investments towards low-carbon technologies and sustainable practices. Additionally, organisations' efforts to reduce carbon emissions can influence supply chains and consumer behaviour, creating a ripple effect throughout the economy towards a more sustainable future.Covid-19 recovery
Our platform can aid COVID-19 recovery by guiding investments and policies towards sustainability, future-proofing an organisation's profits. There are also cost-saving benefits for organisations to reduce their climate impact, for example, to reduce energy usage is to reduce bills. By integrating climate, organisations can build resilience against future disruptions, ensuring a more robust recovery. Additionally, our platform tracks progress towards climate goals, aligning economic recovery with long-term sustainability objectives. This drives the development of clean technologies and practices, promoting economic growth and job creation in green industries, ultimately aiding covid-19 recovery.Tackling economic inequality
Our platform helps organisations measure their carbon emissions which can contribute to tackling economic inequality by fostering a transition to a low-carbon economy that prioritises inclusive growth. Through our platform, organisations can identify opportunities to invest in renewable energy infrastructure and energy efficiency projects, creating job opportunities in regions with high unemployment rates. Additionally, by implementing sustainable practices and reducing carbon footprints, organisations can lower costs, which could lead to increased wages or more affordable products and services. Transparent reporting of emissions data promotes accountability and encourages organisations to consider the social impacts of their operations, ultimately contributing to a more equitable economy.Equal opportunity
Through our platform, organisations can identify opportunities to reduce emissions and improve efficiency, leading to cost savings that can be reinvested into workforce development programs. Transparent reporting of emissions data fosters trust among stakeholders and enables scrutiny of companies' environmental and social performance, ensuring fair treatment and equal opportunity for all. Additionally, by prioritising sustainable practices, organisations can create a more inclusive workforce, providing employment opportunities and career advancement pathways for individuals from diverse backgrounds, thus fostering greater equality in the workforce.Wellbeing
Organisations measuring their carbon emissions through our platform can improve well-being as they are committed to prioritising sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and society. By reducing emissions and investing in renewable energy sources, Organisations contribute to cleaner air and water, mitigating health risks associated with pollution and climate change. Moreover, sustainable practices can enhance employee well-being by fostering a healthier and more productive work environment. Transparent reporting of emissions data promotes public awareness and trust, encouraging consumers to support environmentally responsible organisations, which in turn can lead to improved community health and quality of life.
