Fighting climate change

We are currently undertaking the ‘FuturePlus’ sustainability assessment as a sign of our commitment to implementing sustainable business practices – across climate, diversity & inclusion, social, economic and environment areas. Covid-19 recovery

Ten10 closely followed all the government advice for the duration of the pandemic, and utilised appropriate available assistance to ensure that Ten10 employees were looked after and as many jobs protected as possible during that time of uncertainty. We utilised the “Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme” both with current employees as well as actively re-engaging recent leavers pre pandemic who had fallen through the gaps between jobs. We kept in close contact with our employees on furlough with regular communications and as soon as we were able to bring them back, we did. We provided back to work support and refreshed on the job training that they needed to enable them to rejoin our workforce confidently and productively after their period of absence.

Like all office based businesses we adopted an instant move to remote working practices at the start of the pandemic, and Ten10 has now permanently adopted a hybrid working structure to support our employees. During the transition from 100% remote to hybrid working we have made sure that no employee has felt pressured to return to the office if they felt uncertain from a health perspective or if they have found remote working more suitable to their lifestyle; we also recognise that some of our team prefer to work from the office with other colleagues and we are glad to support them too.

Ten10 took all precautions during the pandemic to make our offices COVID-safe, including social distancing, extra hygiene, testing measures and staggered commuting. Following the change in government advice, we have now taken away social distancing measures but have retained the additional hygiene and staggered commuting, while also recommending testing if attending large events.

Tackling economic inequality

Ten10 is passionate about tackling economic inequality and creating new jobs for underrepresented and underestimated individuals. The Ten10 Academy programme is designed to attract graduates (with a degree or suitable equivalent) who are looking for a career in technology but who may not have previously considered their education suitable for a tech role. We know that women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds and people from lower social-economic backgrounds are statistically less likely to complete a STEM degree at university, therefore Ten10 does not dictate that a technology related or STEM degree is required to join our programme. Our three academy core principles are:

● Social Mobility: No one should have to take a loan or burn through savings in order to join Ten10 and benefit from our training programmes

● Academic Diversity: No one should be limited from having a career in technology based on a decision they made regarding their education when they were 14 years old

● Investment and Integrity: Everyone who successfully completes the core training should have a career in technology

Our 6-12 week training scheme is delivered by Ten10 ILM-certified trainers, who are experienced senior practitioners and covers academic theory and hands-on application of skills. Training is across various tools, technologies and approaches, is flexible to meet specific training needs and skills gaps, and requires no previous technology education or experience. Depending on the chosen pathway, individuals will exit the Academy with a recognised qualification - Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE8 Programmer certification (or equivalent), AWS Certification, a Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis (BCS), etc. Ten10 provides rent and bill free accommodation during training; if relocation is required, Ten10 supports financially and pastorally. We also have a dedicated wellbeing team for the academy, and mental health first aiders available around the clock.

Our current Academy cohort is a highly skilled and diverse group of individuals. 64% came to us from a non-STEM background, 37% of the group identify as female and 60% of our newest members are from ethnic minority groups. This is testament to our commitment to select people based on their aptitude and attitude, and our belief in the quality of our training to prepare all Academy Engineers for a career in technology.

We hold regular “pulse” groups to promote support and feedback from our people, a supplement to the annual employee engagement survey. Ten10 is committed to ensuring transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, as well as being consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Our Head of Compliance has primary and day-to-day responsibility for implementing our anti-Modern Slavery policy.

Wellbeing

Ten10 is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of our team. All employees are enrolled in a market-leading health plan (Medicash) that provides cover for virtual and physical medical advice, dental, optical and inoculation costs, complementary and alternative therapies, counselling services and a 24 hour Employee Assistance Programme. In addition, we have first aiders in all office locations, and mental health first aiders available to all team members.

We work hard to develop and retain our people, recognising the long-term benefits of utilising existing staff over and above recruiting from new. All Ten10 team members have a career coach to provide pastoral care and support their career development throughout their time with Ten10.

We encourage long-term physical wellbeing through the provision of a cycle to work scheme and gym membership.
