Social Value

Fighting climate change

Fighting climate change

Credera is committed to fighting climate change and share the Government’s desire to focus on sustainability to ensure, where feasible, that any digital infrastructure and associated supply chains utilised are responsible, resilient and create environmental, economic, and social benefits.

Credera creates internal targets to track and measure sustainability goals within our practice and alongside our clients. We have an environmental roadmap and consistently compare ourselves against competitors to ensure that we improve our environmental and social targets. We measure our ICT carbon footprint and waste reduction and apply learnings with our clients to drive effective change. We also consider any relevant supply chains and can work with the Buyer to ensure sustainable procurement processes are followed.  Our environmental mission statement is: "Reduce, and where we can't, offset”. We are committed to becoming a net-zero organisation by 2025 and helping our clients with their sustainability goals.

We have a deep technical understanding of moving our clients to Cloud and how this transition delivers optimal energy saving benefits. We can advise on wider infrastructure change, server utilisation and software design in-line with sustainability goals.

We understand the Government’s desire to focus on the role of the responsible digital citizen and the impact that Credera may have as suppliers in the digital ecosystem. Credera is committed to incorporating aspects of sustainability in our work with the Buyer, including i) data management and removal of unnecessary duplication to keep storage costs and impacts low, ii) guidance on device selection and how to use digital tooling, and iii) best practice solutions for energy efficiency in customer behaviour such as ‘think before you print’ and a ‘digital first’ approach such as online hosted video meetings. We understand that opportunities for improvement remain and will work in collaboration with the Buyer to work towards these shared goals.
Covid-19 recovery

Covid-19 recovery

From the outset of COVID-19, Credera has closely monitored the impact on our people, their families, and their communities. We moved to remote working full time before the Government lockdown, our management board surveyed all employees to understand how well they were set up to work from home, who would be impacted by school closures, and any specific concerns and support needs, including for vulnerable and/or shielding individuals. With an 97% response rate, we devised a firm-wide support offering which was then tailored to individual needs.

Credera has supported contract associates, delivery partners, and various suppliers to adopt new ways of working to maintain service excellence throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We have shared communications and advice to all our suppliers to ensure that everyone we work with is protecting themselves and their respective employees. This has included advising them on adopting remote working, collaboration tools, and virtually engaging client teams that are also impacted by restrictions.

Some of the key organisations affected were our facilities management teams which serviced our offices and a range of smaller suppliers that help us deliver company-wide events (i.e., venues, caterers). We have continued, where possible, to methodically book and deliver socially distanced and fully remote events with our existing suppliers to support businesses that have furloughed their staff or had to significantly downsize. We’ve also increased our supplier list to run events and other engagements in new, virtual formats, which has included small, independent businesses across the UK.
Tackling economic inequality

Tackling economic inequality

Credera will improve supply chain resilience and capacity by deepening our relationships with existing suppliers and onboarding new suppliers into our network. Though we are a smaller firm in the UK, we have invested significantly in growing our supplier ecosystem, specifically focused on engineering and technical specialists from small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Credera’s supply chain comprises of a diverse range of small businesses and contract resources to service our clients. We use our network to augment existing capabilities, deliver highly specialist project requirements, and meet spikes in resource demands. We prioritise diversity in our supply chain to complement our service offering, but ensure we can forecast and quickly deploy resources with the right blend of skills across the widest set of requirements. This ensures that smaller companies gain exposure to prestigious clients and large-scale, complex programmes.

Our collaborative approach to working with the supply chain means we establish ‘direct’ relationships and remove degrees of separation caused by large, process-heavy organisations. Our delivery teams frequently identify the suppliers they want to work with based on relationship, managing this directly throughout the engagement.

Credera influences staff, suppliers, clients, and communities to build a more resilient supply chain through regular communications, ensuring the right blend of skills, and (where appropriate) giving financial incentives to suppliers. We build teams based on the right blend of skills, experience, and capabilities so that suppliers are easily embedded into the project team. We communicate with them on a regular cadence to share progress, address issues, and propose new ideas. If appropriate, we may also seek to incentivise them to strengthen their respective supply chains and partner networks to ensure that smaller companies are gaining exposure to larger scale projects and building commercial resilience.
Equal opportunity

Equal opportunity

Credera will tackle economic equality by forming new relationships with charities that represent disabled or marginalised candidates, applying our equal opportunity recruitment approach, and create opportunities that best reflect the G-Cloud framework outcomes. As an equal opportunity employer, Credera embraces this as a key value in recruitment and contract resourcing strategies. Recognised as a “Great Place to Work” employer for seven consecutive years, one of the key factors is our approach to diversity and inclusion. We accommodate the needs of all candidates, and during the pandemic we re-engineered our recruitment process to reach a wider range of candidates.

Credera has a Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee that is dedicated to identifying initiatives that tackle inequality in pay, skills, and employment. The committee represents a wide range of D&I areas, including BAME, LGBTQ+, gender representation, cultural awareness, social inclusivity, and health and wellness. Diversity is important to us because we have observed many benefits to our firm, our people, and business performance when we fully embrace it.

Credera will support in-work progression to help people from disadvantaged and minority groups to move into higher paid work by further developing their skills. Our corporate training policy and recruitment approach includes specific objectives for supporting people from minority backgrounds. We’re growing our partnership with the Hebe Foundation, a charity working with young, disadvantaged people across London, by building a consulting function comprised of people that the charity helps. We’re training and mentoring a group of eight peers in business writing, consulting, and project management to professionalise their skills and enable them to advance in their careers. We also partner with LGBTQ+ charities for similar initiatives, including Trans in the City and Stonewall UK.
Wellbeing

Wellbeing

Credera is committed to continuing to create a workplace culture that promotes and supports the health and wellbeing of all staff. Colleagues have access to our Employee Assistance Programme, where free, confidential help can be sought if needed, and we also offer Private Health Care as standard.

Credera aims to support and the health and wellbeing of our people, both physically and mentally, to enable them to be the best possible version of themselves. To enable that we have split wellbeing at Credera into three areas: Physical, Mental, and Social.

Within the ‘physical’ space, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity for managing stress and maintaining mental wellbeing.

Within the ‘mental’ space, we provide a safe, non-judgemental environment for our colleagues to ensure that everyone feels happy and engaged both inside and outside of work. We also have 11 trained Mental Health First Aiders who are on hand to support our colleagues.

Within the ‘social’ space, we have a dedicated team who ensure that we stay connected as a firm. The team have organised a variety of different social activities throughout the year in order to retain an all-important sense of togetherness. Throughout the year, we run many initiatives and events to raise awareness and promote wellness. Recent events have included Stress Awareness Month, Mental Health Awareness Week, and World Mental Health Day, amongst others. We also offer a number of self-managed clubs including running, cycling, football, yoga, and encourage the awareness of healthy nutrition through nutritional talks and wellbeing gifts.
