Fighting climate change

Practicus is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2035 and maintain our Carbon Reduction Plan annually. Customer Project sizes and locations can vary and we are committed to embedding environmental best practices in each. All activities can be tailored to Customers while remaining relevant to the service delivery and addressing core environmental practices.
Throughout our contracts, we monitor the effectiveness of the additional environmental benefits we deliver. Examples of these include:
• Ensuring supply chains are efficient as possible.
• Collaborating with Customers to improve efficiency and reduce wastage.
• Work with Customers to identify actionable methods to improve environmental protection.
• Raise awareness of environmental best practices and implement these through the delivery of contracts.

Our team will work collaboratively with Customers to influence and support environmental protection and improvement by working with the Customer to raise awareness and lead on managing any delivery models and procurement roadmaps. Providing more streamlined processes to enhance awareness of how to protect the environment and bring about a greater reduction in impact to the environment.

Covid-19 recovery

The impact of Covid-19 has significantly affected organisations and communities in the way they operate. At Practicus, it is in our core values to support people and the communities in which we and our customers work. Therefore, throughout the delivery of contracts, we will work to provide opportunities to support the improvement of working practices to help rebuild in the aftermath of the impact of Covid-19. We will:
• Provide access to online personal development training and information to develop in-work skills in communication, assertiveness, confidence, conflict management, active listening and time management to support the physical and mental health of people affected by Covid-19 in the workplace, thus helping to reduce pressures on health and care services.
• Working collaboratively with Customers to identify skills shortages within the team and offer access and information to further training and support for those seeking re-training or returning to work after the impact of Covid-19.
• Continuing to provide coaching & mentoring opportunities by the Practicus team to Customers’ colleagues seeking career progression.
• Offer advice on how to support a Customer’s workforce through the delivery of a contract to implement effective social distancing, remote working and sustainable travel solutions where practicable for the delivery of the services.

Tackling economic inequality

Practicus is committed to ensuring its workforce and partners provide an environment that embodies equality in employment, skills and pay. To monitor and action this we will:
• Conduct regular salary benchmarking against the market to ensure any substantive workforce deployed during a contract receive accurate pay in accordance with their role.
• Monitor diversity and staff retention and provide regular 1-2-1s for all staff and ensure access to training.
• Look to support a diverse supply chain to include a variety of sized businesses and entrepreneurs.
• Support flexible scalability of service delivery to expand and contract where necessary to ensure future-proofed and efficient delivery.
• Manage the Supply Chain collaboratively and in a fair and equitable manner ensuring adherence to our Code of Conduct and raise awareness of best practice.
• Ensure a varied and robust Supply Chain to provide continuous service delivery thereby supporting resilience and consistency of supply.
• Look to include innovative or disruptive technologies that promote value for money throughout the contract delivery and improve service quality.

Equal opportunity

Supporting people into work and to further their careers is one of our key business objectives. Training and development needs are reviewed bi-annually and we routinely organise workshops and offer wellbeing support to staff and Customers to assist in-work progression by:
• Providing access to online personal development training and information to develop in-work skills in communication, assertiveness, confidence, conflict management, active listening and time management.
• Working collaboratively with Customers to identify skills shortages within the team and offer access and information to further training and support.
• Continuing to provide coaching & mentoring opportunities by the Practicus team to Customers’ colleagues seeking career progression.

We will use our Diversity Equality & Inclusion (DEI) team to review the systems, processes, behaviours and active measures that are needed to ensure a fully inclusive workplace. This includes monitoring the representation of Disabled people within the workforce.

In addition, as part of our commitment for supporting disadvantaged and minority groups, we have made a number of changes within our business in order to become a Disability Confident Employer Level 2 (registration DCS026703).

Wellbeing

Practicus has teamed up with the Mental Health Foundation and The Resilience Factor to deliver a support programme for health and wellbeing within the workforce and to promote integrated communities. We will:
• Put in place a programme providing confidential and personalised coaching from The Resilience Factor to offer internal events and workshops around issues such as Mental Health and physical wellbeing in the workplace. Within Practicus, this programme has resulted in reducing our average sickness levels by 39% during 2020.
• Provide information about our online access to articles and guidance from the Mental Health Foundation offering resilience training, meditation short courses, and physical wellbeing such as sleep and exercise. This will be available not just to the Practicus workforce, but to the wider staff, suppliers, customers, and the community.
