Fighting climate change
At Ethical Healthcare Consulting (EHC), our status as an SME allows us to directly contribute to social and economic development within our community. Our small size enables us to provide personalised, effective services to our clients. This approach aligns with government policies that advocate for SME inclusion in supply chains, recognising our role in driving social value. Our commitment to community engagement and impact makes us a strong choice for projects focused on meaningful social contributions.
EHC prioritises environmental sustainability which guides our team to minimise their environmental impact. EHC operates entirely remotely, with all staff and associates working from various locations, eliminating the need for a physical office.
EHC aims to cut its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 by reducing operations emissions, reduced business travel, reduction in emissions by employee commuting and identifying low or no carbon alternatives. This plan, and our active pursuit of B Corp certification underscore our commitment to ethical, sustainable operations and stringent social and environmental standards. HC already focuses on digital tools like video calls, Miro boards, and SharePoint for internal communication, cutting down on staff travel and physical meetings. This approach also boosts our remote collaboration and project planning efficiency.
EHC is committed to achieving a significant reduction in carbon emissions by continuing to transition to digital platforms and services, thereby reducing the need for physical travel. Our strategy includes rigorous assessment and optimisation of digital workflows to ensure they are as energy efficient as possible, contributing directly to our goal of year-on-year annual reduction in carbon emissions.
EHC is dedicated to maximising the adoption of digital service delivery among our clients under this framework and within our internal operations.Tackling economic inequality
Ethical Healthcare Consulting (EHC) actively tackles economic inequality by focusing on equitable skills development within the workforce. Committed to ethical and sustainable practices, we aim to boost the average skill level through a targeted training ecosystem. This strategy not only meets current healthcare industry requirements but also prepares for future demands.
Our strategy to ensure our operations stay current and inclusive involves supporting our employees' access to top-tier training and professional development opportunities. We have enabled our staff to participate in specialised training programs, such as those offered by APMG. Additionally, we leverage our membership with the techUK trade association, which provides a platform for networking and access to industry insights, further enhancing our team's knowledge and skills in the technology sector. Our commitment to supporting diversity and empowering career advancement is evidenced by our investment of £15,000 this year into supporting the Minerva programme. These initiatives, tailored for women working in health technology or health and care data environments with leadership ambitions, are important to us as an organisation. Championed by Anne Cooper, former NHS Digital Chief Nurse, Minerva is a comprehensive 10-month programme that combines face-to-face and virtual learning, personalised coaching, and networking opportunities.
EHC has established a Skills and Competency Framework which is designed to identify and map the essential skills and competencies needed to support key business decisions, encompassing project planning, costing, and resourcing for both internal and external client projects. The adoption of this Framework significantly enhances our business productivity, elevates the quality of outcomes, and streamlines both our long-term and short-term planning processes. Furthermore, it plays an important role in pinpointing training and learning opportunities, enabling our team to recognise and address any skill gaps.Equal opportunity

EHC is committed to improving health and wellbeing, including physical and mental health, within its contract workforce and supply chain. At EHC, our status as an SME allows us to directly contribute to social and economic development within our community. Our small size enables us to provide personalised, effective services to our clients. This approach aligns with government policies that advocate for SME inclusion in supply chains, recognising our role in driving social value. Our commitment to community engagement and impact makes us a strong choice for projects focused on meaningful social contributions.
Poor mental health accounts for more than half of all work-related illnesses. With the challenges of remote and client-based work, EHC recognises the importance of regularly checking in on the physical and mental health of our contract workforce. We are aware that the absence of face-to-face interactions in our digital consultancy environment can make our team more susceptible to stress and feelings of isolation. Therefore, we are committed to creating more opportunities for connection and support, ensuring that the wellbeing of our team is always a top priority.
The Ethical Healthcare (EHC) Health and Wellbeing Policy outlines several strategies to address physical and mental health issues in the workforce.
EHC is committed to educating and informing managers, employees, and associates about mental health problems, their potential symptoms, and how to support each other at work. This includes raising wider awareness and understanding within the organisation.
EHC aims to create an environment where employees feel confident enough to discuss their mental health issues and seek support.
EHC acknowledges its obligations under health and safety legislation and the Equality Act 2010, particularly in making reasonable adjustments for employees with disabilities.
