Fighting climate change
Adappt is committed to Fighting Climate Change and has made charitable donations to organisations supporting this. We adhere to Scope 1, 2 and 3 of carbon emissions across the business in compliance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. These are defined as follows: • Scope 1 are direct emissions we produce as a business • Scope 2 are indirect emissions we produce (e.g. our building’s electricity usage) • Scope 3 covers a wide range of indirect emissions including raw materials, logistics, business travel by the team and how employees commute to work. Scope 1) Adappt produces software and related software services, we do not manufacture and so the emission we produce as a business come from our computers. All our computers are low energy and energy efficient as they are all switched off when not in use. Scope 2) Indirect emissions are minimal; this is the electricity used by the business, where we have installed solar panels. The main use of electricity is by computers, lighting and heating. A majority of staff work from home and so lighting and heating are typically those used in their domestic situation. Staff are encouraged to have low energy lighting/light bulbs, and these are provided free on request we also encourage the use of Green/renewable energy suppliers wherever possible. All computers are the most energy efficient we can purchase. Scope 3) covers a wide range of indirect emissions along the entire value chain, including raw materials and logistics; Adappt does not have a supply chain, and therefore this contribution is zero. It also includes business travel by the team and how employees commute to work. We limit travel to a minimum and where necessary use public transport or electric vehicles. The majority of our staff work from home, using available online collaboration and productivity tools.Covid-19 recovery
Adappt are long term partners with the World Health Organization (WHO), for whom we supply a number of services, not least the detection and notification of anomalous disease outbreaks globally. During Covid-19 Adappt architected and delivered a suite of software applications, from a platform enabling the WHO to monitor the global spread of the disease, to providing live dashboards showing instant updates on hospitalisations, deaths, vaccinations, variants. Adappt are at the frontline in technologies looking for the next outbreak and as such Covid recovery is ingrained in our DNA. Adappt have implemented the following actions and policies to help the communities we serve recover from Covid-19. 1. Remote work enablement: We offer cloud-based platforms that facilitate remote work such as Timanage (www.timanage.com), ensuring business continuity and employee safety. Our tools support virtual collaboration, project management, and secure data access from anywhere, reducing unnecessary contact where possible. 2. Healthcare support: Our applications aid healthcare providers by providing instant access to latest updates and guidelines from WHO to tackle a multitude of diseases, increasing efficiency, but also maintaining access to data remotely. 3. Educational tools: We provide e-learning platforms and resources to support remote education, helping health-workers maintain learning progress despite disruptions caused by the pandemic, such as GOARN LMS (Global Outbreak Alert and Response Learning Management System) 4. Community engagement: Our platforms enable community leaders and organisations to disseminate critical information, gather feedback, and engage with the public on health and safety guidelines in a safe, remote environment, such as www.tbksp.org, for the TB community. 5. Economic recovery: We leverage the latest technologies such as AI and LLMs to automate processes and provide efficient solutions which help businesses adapt to new market conditions, reach customers online, and recover economically.Tackling economic inequality
Adappt are proud to boast a 55/45 ratios split between female and male staff, with female staff making up the largest percentage. As employers we encourage all staff to excel in their ambitions, and support staff both in and outside the work place. We reward against performance - not gender, age or any other metric. Our wage structure is firmly designed to tackle the economic inequality that exists in so many businesses. Simply put, there is no gender pay gap within Adappt and the wage differential between the lowest paid and the highest paid is kept to a minimum, with opportunity being available to all. Adappt firmly supports the reduction of the digital skills gap by supporting educational attainment and creating training opportunities particularly for those who face barriers to employment and/or in deprived areas. Whenever possible we use appropriate apprenticeship schemes. We have an equal opportunity policy which is strictly observed. We provide suitable hardware and software to meet diverse user needs examples are those whose first language is not English and/or those who have visual, auditory, physical, speech or other impairment(s). Fairness for all is at the heart of Adappt's ethos. Adappt gives a high priority to creating employment opportunities particularly for those who face barriers to employment and/or who are located in deprived areas. Adappt creates employment and training opportunities, particularly for people in the high tech Software and high growth Artificial Intelligence industry which has known skills shortages as it is a high growth sector Adappt supports educational attainment relevant to contracts, this including training schemes that address skills gaps and result in recognised qualifications.Equal opportunity
For our full policy document, please see https://adappt.ai/equality-and-diversity-policy An extract is shown below:- Equality and Diversity Policy 1.Purpose This policy sets out Adappt’s approach to equality and diversity. Adappt is committed to promoting equality and diversity and promoting a culture that actively values difference and recognises that people from different backgrounds and experiences can bring valuable insights to the workplace and enhance the way we work. Adappt aims to be an inclusive organisation, committed to providing equal opportunities throughout employment including in the recruitment, training and development of employees, and to proactively tackling and eliminating discrimination. 2. Equality and diversity at Adappt. We consider that equality means breaking down barriers, eliminating discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities and access for all groups both in employment, and to goods and services. We consider diversity to mean celebrating difference and valuing everyone. Each person is an individual with visible and non-visible differences and by respecting this everyone can feel valued for their contributions which is beneficial not only for the individual but for Adappt too. We acknowledge that equality and diversity are not interchangeable but interdependent. There can be no equality of opportunity if difference is not valued and harnessed. 3.Scope The rights and obligations set out in this policy apply equally to all employees, whether part time or full time on a substantive or fixed-term contract, and also to associated persons such as secondees, agency staff, contractors and others employed under a contract of service.
Adappt are signatories to the UN Global Compact to tackle workplace inequality, modern slavery and corruption. https://www.unglobalcompact.org.uk/about-the-uk-network/members-a-to-h/Wellbeing
Adappt is committed to providing a healthy working environment and improving the quality of working lives for all staff. The wellbeing strategy aims to support the Adappt’s mission and core values of freedom of thought and expression, freedom from discrimination and the recognition that Adappt’s staff are its greatest asset. The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) define wellbeing as ‘Creating an environment to promote a state of contentment which allows an employee to flourish and achieve their full potential for the benefit of themselves and their organisation.’ Adappt have hosted regular external mindfulness and relaxation sessions for our staff, employing Yoga gurus and meditation experts as well as regular companywide 'non work related' competitions, and away days. Through the integration of wellbeing in all work activities and practices, a positive environment can be created that is compatible with promoting staff engagement, performance and achievement. Working in partnership with all areas of Adappt with a common interest in promoting a culture of wellbeing is key to the success of this strategy. The wellbeing strategy’s ultimate goal is to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of the Adappt's staff and to prevent work associated ill health, for the overall benefit of staff and the organisation. This encompasses the physical, mental and social health of employees and recognises that employees’ values, personal development and work within Adappt contribute to their overall wellbeing at work. Adappt has a workforce that is geographically, culturally and linguistically diverse. The wellbeing strategy aims to reflect this diversity and to provide direction on related issues and challenges in order to support the development of effective solutions and outcomes. We have 'climbing' days to get people moving and their minds focussed on fun challenges and have yoga sessions and craft days in our development centre.
